i was just washing my dishes and had this strange idea
that adam and eve story makes no sense.
if god is a perfect beeing then the accident with an apple was already seen and expected by god
adam and eve are happy in the garden just chillin kickin it, watcing the sky and chasing birds and all the fun stuff
that sounds like an amusement park, they were created in his image for what purpose?
why would a perfect beeing create someone in his image without a purpose.
what other purpose is there to create male and then create female that they can reproduce but dont give them knowledge to do so.
kinda like a car without engine control module(useless)
the idea i had is the
adam and eve is the begining(parents)
the first peoples
the apple is the seed giving knowledge to them
is the birth of god on earth or the begining of new god
we are all part of the "god" here on earth
not that we have pieces of god in us but we are the pieces of god
and thru our personal pain and suffering and joy and happiness we develop the knowledge and understanging
the common knowledge to all of us
if you follow the timeline from birth of civilizations to now it seems that we are progressing towards a better "enlightenment"? of all pieces of god
but from the begining of civilizations it seems like there was some advanced stuff goin on back then, maybebecause the"god" was young and still had the memory of his parent's wisdom.

im not religious but to me this idea makes more sense than what i understood from religions in general.

The story of Adam and Eve is archetypal- it can be applied to many situations- it can be used to describe the evolution of societies as they move from nature-centric to male-oriented, it can also be used to describe the individuation of the soul, using the images as symbols- it can be used many ways and it seems to fit well, showing that it is not meant to be taken literally- that it can be called 'true' in a metaphysical way, not a 'badly-translated-literal' way.

The bible was written by people, keep that in mind.  It was written from verbal tradition.  Maybe the author didn't get it.  Most holy books are like that.  Not that they don't have legitimate information in them.  But it's important to remember that these texts are humans trying there darndest to explain in human language the ineffable.  That is a very difficult thing to do.

It's all about symbolism.  Symbols (or as CFT said, archetypes) are the way that pretty much everything in existence communicates besides us.  We like to rationalize everything, including communication.  So take your most enlightening moment and tell me about it in words.  That's also what makes OBEs so hard for so many people.  What's being done isn't a rational or logical thing.  Its not linear, its abstract, no definite shape.  That is a very difficult thing to put in words.  Think about all the subtleties of feeling that are left out of even the best of OBE stories.  Religious books and religions are the same way.

I always saw the adam and eve story as a depiction of the manifestation of consciousness into the physical.  You've got the pure beings just living free in the garden of eden (paradise) but then fruit is eaten from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil".  Now they have the experience of duality or me and not me.  This causes the separation we feel from one another which then turns into pain, longing and attachment.  Until we vomit up the fruit we're stuck.
be awesome.
