Good and Evil

At the moment i think that good and evil are in the eye of the beholder. So if somebody thinks something is evil, it is, but if another person thinks that same thing is good, it also is.
For example, some extreme Christians (as an example, remember) may say that heavy metal is 'evil' and they truly believe that people who listen to heavy metal will go to hell. On the other hand, most heavy metal fans i've talked to would say that there is nothing 'evil' about listening to vibrations, no matter how heavy it all sounds, or what the context of the song is.
Sure there is a general agreement on what is evil and what is good. For example, killing a person would generally be accepted as evil, where as giving somebody flowers would generally be accepted as good. I'm sure that there are people throughout the world who don't see things that way though. That's why i say good and evil are in the eye of the beholder.
At the moment i don't believe there is any higher entity with rules on what is good and what is evil. Each individual person makes their judgement on that.
So you could say that i think 'good' and 'evil' do exist, but because no concequences of either has been proven to me, i don't know if there is any major difference in what might happen to me as a result of doing one or the other.

Some people argue that good and evil dont exist; That good and evil are 'relative' to what a person believes. Lemme tell u what I think.

When we get through enough experience in life to know what pain and joy is, to know what suffering and happiness is, that is when we start developing our sense of good and evil. When we get this sense, we avoid hurting others, because we know that we ourselves would not want to be hurt that way. Despite this, we are still created with a weakness of soul to take the pleasures of this life, while neglecting to help others. When we are arrogant and full of vain pride, that is when we lose our conscious and begin to hurt others while not actually realizing it. This is because we are so worked up about ourselves that we dont notice any pain that we may cause others. On the other hand, when we are modest and faithful in the unseen(God), we ascend to higher spiritual levels/higher consciousnesses and are very compassionate and caring about the wellbeing of others.

So my answer about the idea of good and evil is that it exists. Evil is that which makes u arrogant, prideful, and a worshipper of your desires. Good is that which makes you modest, conscientious, and in touch with God/higher self. I believe we are all born good, but we are also born weak to fall to evil. To develop our souls and become more in touch with God, we must constantly struggle against any arrogance/evil that is tempting us, and we must do good deeds. I believe that the meaning of life is to develop our souls, and if we succeed, we receive what we earn. But those who stunt the growth of their own souls are correspondingly put into Hell because of the deeds they used to do.

I believe that the revelations that God sent to man are to guide man onto a straight path towards a successful development of his soul.
