Title: Solopsism and existence
Post by: PissedOff24 on March 08, 2009, 19:42:35
Hello,

I have been thinking a lot about this lately. What if nothing exists, except for what is all in my mind? What if this is something I created? I have also been thinking about the no mind states I have been having lately. I can put myself on autopilot for days at a time, with absolutely no thoughts. Seriously. I will have a plan to go downtown the day before. The day comes, I wake up on autopilot, go downtown and do my errands with absolutely no thought involved. Nothing! It's almost like pure consciousness.

Now I don't mean lazy mind state, I mean pure consciousness state. And the thing is, I can remember everything that I did while in that state, when I'm back in my normal state.

I really encourage you to read as much philosophy from the contemplative traditions as you can. Investigate the sense of self, the perception of me, mine, I, etc. Here is one teaching which I am just now reading myself,  http://www.happinessofbeing.com/, which has the teachings of Ramana Maharshi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramana_Maharshi).

--  reality is dreaming about being awake ... to the  few who are active or  "alive" with Self/Kundalini this dreaming is obvious ...  the rest take the dream about reality to be real.

Your "normal state" is the deception the Hindus of old called Maya.
