or for that matter believe in the magick of Aliester Crowley?

You seem to really be fascinated with this Aliester Crowley guy, lol...

This is the second or third time I can think of you mentioning him.

He seems to have created his own homebrand of Wicca. I guess that I can say it is worthwhile to try to make sense of the subconscious and potentially mystical experiences humans sometimes have in the way he seems to have attempted, but that it is also dangerous to pattern your beliefs after the writings of one person, without reading other sources, and trying to work out the likely truth for yourself.

I can't say that  I have read any of his works, or even knew who he was before wikipedia today, but I have read some from Charles Tart, Robert Bruce, Robert Monroe, Gopi Krishna, and some of the classical texts like the Bhagavadgita and Dharmapada, and I can tell you that none really offer a balanced and caprice-free view of the truth, but that much can potentially be learned from them individually. The danger comes when you feel that one person has an uplink to the final word, and that is the same danger in words like "believe".

"Believe in thelema ... " [sic] "believe in magic ... " [sic] Isn't that like asking do you believe believe in UFO's? When, after all, UFO's are simply that - "unidentified". Extrapolating an unidentified object with explanations of aliens and abductions is a quantum leap.

Those adherents who practise thelema wouldnt practise it if they didn't believe in it and those who don't probably aren't interested.

There are many practitioners of thelema and I suppose it works for them / us / whoever ...
