seeing faces in a mirror

ive looked at my face a certain way in the mirror so that it would look like it would change form sometimes looking like it is someone else. and  the same can be done looking at someone in front of you. it can be kind of funny to start noticing the changes as they are happening, but do you mean you see another face over your shoulder while looking in the mirror?

no, really. i have before. but i took him out because he was getting creepy. my dude was a dead guy, old dead, the kind that know's they're dead and admits that they are here for a reason....
then again,i could talk to mine and he talked back.....who knows.

I have a question for anyone with experience in this stuff. Has anyone seen faces appear in mirrors? I'm not talking about black mirrors or special magic mirrors. Just the plain, buy at Target, kind of mirror. And to see these without trying? Does anyone know what/who they are?

I've done some research and some say they are past lives. Others say they are the deceased. I'm not sure that either one is correct. I think both are possible, but I'm sure that there must be at least one other possibility.

Has anyone had any experience with this and do they have any opinions other than these two as to what they could be? I have my own thoughts, but I have no experience on which to base them. They are simply thoughts/observations based on limited experiences.

I had read somewhere (I think it was one of Robert's articles) that you can practice seeing auras on yourself in the mirror. That's what started this. I would begin seeing a sky blue band around myself. But I would also notice that my face would morph or change into other people. The faces don't move or talk though. Of course, I really haven't tried to talk to them. But I wasn't sure what they were, as I wasn't trying to do anything like this. THe faces appear direclty over top of my face, almost like a holagram. I don't see them elsewhere in the mirror.

Michael_E, do you know what the faces are that you are seeing? They sound like what I was seeing. I stopped because I wasn't sure what they were and didn't want to unintentionally 'invite' anyone/thing in to my house until I figured out what these things were.

  Mirrors have a long history of being used for scrying and it does not need to be any special sort of mirror. I have also found that when people are looking at me through a mirror I will see them in mirrors.
  I have read of a number of superstitions concerning mirrors also. I know that in some sections of Mexico at Halloween they place the table where it is reflected in a huge mirror. The whole family sits down and believes that everyone who has died and passed on sits on the other side of the mirror to join them. It is their one special day to be a part of the family again.
  A lot of people will see spirits in the mirror if they are around them also. Mirrors are used as a focal point for scrying so a special or consecrated mirror will work better for that and focus the energies clearer. It does not mean that you can not use any reflective surface as a focal point.
  A way to stop people from looking at you through mirrors is to take to small mirrors and coat the reflective sides with marigold tea made from marigold petals. You then glue the two sides together and pray that the focal points make it so they look at themselves. Hang it on a ribbon in a window or somewhere it can be made to look decorative. You can paint designs upon the dull sides or glue designs on them.
  It works and makes it so when the person focuses on you or tries to access you through the mirrors all they see is themselves.

So it sounds like these faces could be other living beings or deceased spirits.

What are your thoughts about them being past lives? I guess that sort of makes sense to me, but I have no experience at this at all. So sorry if these are really dumb or simple questions.

  They could be past lives but most of the time you do have to be looking for past life information. I had a past life regression at 16 where I was hypnotized and they actually recorded the language I was speaking. They asked me to change the description to the language I was used to speaking in this lifetime and it worked.
  It fascinated me and is really part of what caused me to study all the occult books and explore magic. I do see lifetimes easily now but the last thing that was done in that session was to state that I would be able to remember all of my past lives. I have not met or talked to anyone who has spontaneous memories of their past lives in mirrors without doing a lot of work to make themselves remember.
  Dead spirits or spirits of others that you knew from other lifetimes would be easier. A lot of times we link to people that we truly cared about in other lifetimes. They will always be the people that it feels like we knew them before or where they are so easy to communicate with mentally. They will look like the person looked in the past lifetime in the mirror.
  You can normally tell if meeting someone has triggered these occurrences by thinking about who you have met. What did their energies feel like and if they triggered a lot of energetic reactions in you.

In response to your original post, I have experienced something similar. I also tried viewing my aura in the mirror and when focusing on my heart I can see that my face flickers and changes form but as soon as I look up my face is normal again. By focusing on my head my entire body becomes a shadow and almost like it is invisible. It's quite interesting. I wasn't sure about what this was either and no-one has really provided a clear cut answer yet, but I did come across a site that said this had something to do with accessing images from the superconscious.

When your eyes go out of focus, your Third Eye will kick in, and it will start to show you other faces. Other aspects of yourself, past lives, faces from the collective, aliens, faeries, people of other races and other times

I don't have a problem with them disappearing at all, and I stare right at them. Well, actually, I don't stare. I do loosen the focus of my eyes a bit and that's when they appear. But my focus is through my face in the mirror, so I'm seeing them very clearly.

I have also been "playing" with the mirror deal lately. As in your case, I just look at my face and let my eyes sort of unfocus. Then I start seeing my face change. I've seen a few different people faces, but the one that hangs around most strongly is a Cougar (Mountain Lion). I much prefer wolves, especially if it's a past life I'm seeing, so I tried to "will" the figure to turn into a wolf. It seems to be pretty strongly convinced of its own identity however!  

Nita has given me some advice as to what this is, and recommends putting shields or wards in place before doing the practice. Last time I put Obsidian and Celestite in front of the mirror and surrounded them with quartz crystals. I am not getting a sense of evil from the face though. It's just watching me watching it.

I am not totally convinced this is anything more than optical illusion, but it is interesting!

By the way, have you perchance been reading a book by a guy named DeLong that deals with this topic? If so, I would advise against doing the channeling section of the book. Whether this is a real phenomena or not, I am extremely wary about inviting "something" to share my mind!

Nope, not reading that book. And definately not into inviting anything in my mind, body, house or anywhere near me or my family. So no worries there.

I haven't had any animals. The faces I see are always people. Sometimes women and sometimes men. And I don't sense anything from them, which is the strange part. I can normally 'read' something instantly. But this is more like looking at photos or something. I don't feel anything from them. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

Novice, Yes, my experience is much like yours. I have seen other faces, people, along with the Cougar, and none of them with emotion.

Nita, You raise an interesting thought -- hadn't occurred to me. But why would my power animal be a cat? I am most definitely a dog person! Although, come to think of it, I think Cougars are pretty neat!

NodesOfYesod, It could well be you were seeing glimpses of something more than imagination. My meditations have given me some interesting pictures. Mind you, I have no idea what any of it might mean at this point.
