I'm a witch, and at the moment my day job is building and configuring Unix and Windows servers.
My path is now taking me in a spiritual direction, away from the computer industry. I know I will soon find myself "employed" by my dreams and passions, and becoming a teacher of metaphysics and possibly healer. I am already attending certificate courses that will put me in a position to be able to teach, and I've recieved more than just a few confirmations from Spirit that this is where I am meant to be.
After 19 years in the computer industry, I'm really looking forward to the change. [:)]
Why not use magic to win the lottery?
The universe can have a perverse sense of humor. You can ask for a lottery win, or cast a spell accordingly, but you really want to be very careful of what you ask for. The concept of "a slap in the face with a wet fish" is something the universe knows very well. [:)] Lottery wins can come with their own sets of problems.
Material abundance is there for the taking if we just put forward our requests to the universe. It will always provide if we let it know what we need, and then surrender our requsts in trust and not hold on to expectations of how the universe will provide. It has ways and means of providing that go way beyound our comprehension.
Well, those are at least my thoughts on the subject.
Regards,
James.
I am a cost analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense. I have a security clearance and all that. I used to be bothered by serving the Death Force, but not anymore. I understand the creation/destruction dynamic so much better now than I did when I was a newbie witch.
I'm dating a very wealthy man, so of course I fantasize about what it would be like to be able to quit my job and work on my magical and psychic abilities 24/7. But there is something powerful about a woman's financial independence! It enables me to say and do what I want. Which sure beats a slap on the face with a wet fish, yes?
dentist + bmw and ford dealer
Just curious Aryanknight....which dealership do you work at?
I ask because I build servers for Reynolds & Reynolds, and there's a good chance your using our gear.

James.

They're one of our larger customers, running on one of the big IBM servers. Those IBMs are the one line of server I don't build. That privelage is reserved for my boss - the head guru (or head nerd) of our company.
Funny, my boss is also a witch, as is his wife, but he eats sleeps and breaths computers. Part of my job is to translate for him. If any of our sales people come in to ask him a technical question, I translate between High Nerd and normal english for them [:)]
Sorry Rastus,
Getting caught up in a bit of "small world" here.

James.
I live in pymble though. Where are you?
Melbourne.
My company's head office is there.
I did live in Sydney (well, Camden) until 5 years ago. Change of wife, change of life....
You're at Pymble? Not far to travel to work then. In Sydney traffic that can only be a good thing! Where's your dental clinic?
That's a rather diverse combination of jobs you've got.
That's okay. I'm the technical guru for a bank. If it uses energy, it's my problem (interesting choice of phrases?).
Well, I don't call myself any of those, but other people like to call me by those names, so ... *shrug*
Day job: research assistant at a university behavioral research institute.
Night job: indie record label operations manager (not that I can count that as "generating an income")
I consider myself a "mage", and I am currently a student, and I work with landscaping along with a little computer work on the side.

Hey, me too Naiad! In fact, i'm at work right now "researching online." No, it's not a career, just pays the bills until i figure out what i'm supposed to do with my life. Sigh. Guess i'll keep working on energetically creating money for my higher good...

Um, two stops away from pymble on the trainline.
Heh...camden sucks! [8D] did you ever know anyone by the name hodson, mconie or buckley?
Sorry, no.
When I first moved to Camden it was a semi-rural town. It wouldn't be to difficult to get to know a lot of the people there, but when I left, it had become just another surburan sprawl.
- James.
It's still semi-rural I'd say
I have a question for avowed Witches/Druids/Shamans out there. What's your day job? What do you do to generate an income?
I have the standard answers for the old "why don't they use magick to win the Lottery" question, but I'd like to know if there's some common callings?
