Title: help with .....
Post by: Jeff_Mash on December 11, 2003, 11:49:31
Hey Dark...sorry but I moved this back to the Magic forums where it belongs.  You may not feel that this part of the forum gets that much attention, but posting it where it doesn't belong is like trying to sell shoes at a pet store.

Now to address your question, I see you're from the UK, and I don't know if things work the same over there as they do here in the USA, but do you have  Yellow Pages book or anything?  It's basically a directory most homes and businesses have where you can look up certain things (like plumbing, movies, magic, etc) and they will list all the businesses in your area which cater to that.

Another thing...even though your mom doesn't want you to get help from her, is SHE able to suggest places to look, or is she against doing that as well?

You may also want to check local book retailers for information on Magic.  I know that the 'Barnes & Noble' and Borders book stores usually have a pretty good "New Age" selection, which is where you'll find the books on Magic Arts.

Finding smaller bookstores which only cater to magic and new age literature may be harder to find.  Unless they are listed in some sort of online directory, or local yellow pages.

Hey all,

I'm from the UK. Although magic shops aren't exactly on the A-list of directories, they sure are out there.

Firstly try looking up on the Yellow Pages like Jeff suggested (This is easily done at www.yell.com )

If you have no luck there then try an internet search engine. The nearest City geographically to yourself should have a portal site on the internet, listing all the different shops and services it has.

If you still have no luck then i suppose you'll just have to find one manually. I reckon that there is at least one magic shop for every major City in the UK, at least (Theres definately a higher concentration of magic shops in the South West, cornwall area). Go on a scouting mission in your city and hopefully you'll something.

Last but not least, you could try mail order off the internet. For texts and research books popular online stores like www.amazon.co.uk is very popular. To get actual herbs and equipment i don't know exactly where to go but i would be cautious in making sure the site is legitimate before you buy from there.

Hope this helps. Good Luck in your search.

Cheers,

Mo!
