about good and evil

Good and Evil are human concepts, born out of man's religions and philosophies. The spirit world does not make such distinctions.

I tend to agree that there is no universal good or evil, but there are actions which are defined as good or evil by everyone, including non-physical beings I would say.

A destructive action (doing harm, for example) of Person A against person B is defined as evil by person B, but not by person A. Possible bystanders (person C, D, E ...) can define the action of person A as evil, good or "neutral" (neutral means they just don't care), depending on their world view.

If person B does the _same_ action against person A, person A will define this action as evil.

A destructive action against someone is defined as evil by this someone. This means, the action itself will be defined as evil by everyone if the action goes against them. Ergo: The destructive action is evil.

The Majority defines stuff, that's the way it is.

I know that doesn't prove that evil or good exists, but if everyone thinks that something is evil or good, then it will be evil or good ... even if it isn't. Confusing? Indeed.

At one point on my journeys I was so far in the Dark, I very nearly didn't make it back to the light.  Was I 'Evil' at the time?  Don't know.  Was I capable of great Evil?  Oh yes.  Did I do great evil?  Not really.  Did I do 'bad things'?  Yes.  How bad?  You would have to ask the people affected.

And now?  The light shines very strongly in me.  Am I 'Good'?  I would like to think so.  Do I do 'Good' things?  Yes.  Am I still capable of 'Bad Things'?  Yes.

What does that mean?  It means I'm willing to do what needs to be done.  That is the path I've chosen to walk this time.  And who defines what needs to be done?  Not a who but a what, and your standing on it at the moment []

I agree with what most people have been saying here. There is no good and evil duality. There is no light side and dark side. There are no purely good spirits and pure evil spirits, each with the task to do either good or evil.
There is free will, and the free will in turn to define what is "good" and what is "evil", usually harming someone without that person deserving it is considered "evil".
I don't beleive paying attention to the self is "evil". Self-centeredness is an undesirable mindset and can be quite annoying, but denying the self is even worse.

How do you understand love? I understand it as something experienced between two people, it is an emotion, which also carries with it other emotions and experiences, alot if not most of which can be painful, and I define this as love. Love is one of the greatest attachments, the buddhists beleive that Love is actually the biggest obstacle in cultivating, and if there was something greater then love, then it would be impossible to cultivate.
Loving everyone and everything, obviously, is dangerous.
And it shouldn't be too hard in seeing the danger and irrationality in loving your enemy; someone purposely looking to attack and destroy you. If you love them, what good does this do to you?
Yes love is essential to human happiness and it is a good thing it also sets up alot of vulnerability and weakness in humans and potentional for pain and it makes for easy manipulation.

Oh wow, no wonder.

ArianKnight.  Wrong, completely wrong.  You've confused joy with love.  Common mistake.  Love has nothing to do with sex (or the opposite sex).  Love has no opposite, whereas the opposite of joy is hate, both of which are mental constructs of the mind, and not something you'd find in a soul.  Love is a transcendant emotion.

Asking me a question then answering it for me by putting words in my mouth and accusing me of something seems somewhat out of place and unreasonable, considering I was only offering an opinion, which you obviously don't understand.

If you understood the principle of what I said, then you would know that your hypothetical scenario makes very little sense. The concept doesn't work, unless everyone lives by it. But, if everyone did live by it, there would be no need to kill anyone, since no one would be taking the lives of 50 innocent people in the first place.

However, the predictability of human behavior shows that this probably wont happen anytime soon or at all. But a change for greater good has to start somewhere, and it most likley wont happen over night.

love (pure love - if not pure can't say that is love, i can call it affection...more must be talked about this) to "everything", not expecting for anything in return, no condditions, no "madness" involved, if they wanna hurt you, if they hurt you u don't stop loveing them...you can defend yourself in any way that you need but the cross the border...love them (after all they help you in your evolution, helping you to know yourself better....................................................................................................................................

But isn't love also the "ether", that fifth element that holds all the others cohesively together? (yeah, it sounds like the movie, i know). I sort of thought as the God/Oneness/Isness AS Love, and everything we experience in "reality" is just that love broken down into smaller experiencial pieces. Even hate, for one must exist to have validity for the other.

i believe like many on this forum that threr is know good and eviel (dualaty)...and i think that this meen (pause, read lower) evolution.

bad, eviel, black, dark (whatsoever). selfcentred

light, good...just "pure love"
