I was wondering if anyone else here is engaged in working through Franz Bardon's "Initiation into Hermetics" ? Or perhaps there are astralpulse members who have completed this work.

I only started a month ago, & I am still practising the 3 thought control exercises at the beginning of step 1. I can honestly say that these exercises alone have given me a lot of food for thought ... I am looking forward to progressing through the coming exercises.

After reading through many of the practical exercises, I recognised many of them immediately. Take for example, Monroe's Wave 1 Gateway exercise. The initial breathing exercise is the same, though the intention differs slightly from Bardon's "Magical breathing". Another example that springs to mind is Bardon's Soul mirrors. The exercise requires one to ruthlessly identify every positive and negative facet of the personality. This compares with Rick Stack's instructions within "How to acheive an OBE in 30 days", and also Castaneda's description of contemplating one's own life experiences.

I guess that I'm slowly realising that the "magic" we refer to with different names, techniques, etc. is one whole, with varying interpretations.

Hello Clandestino
I have found that the methods and techniques that work are reproduced through out the ages. We are now using them with a twist for technology and so the Monroe Institute and other modern methods that use old methods in them.
It really gives one insight into how magic is an ongoing learning experience and discipline. The best thing about Bardons books is how he has all the old methods and his ideas set up in a coherent structured system.

Hi clandestino, Nita. Clan, i too am just starting to read Bardon's books, after finding references to them on Nita's webgroup (thanks Nita, and thanks for the A. Bailey too). I agree, magic through the ages, as i am coming to learn, has come in many guises and names according to practitioner, culture, and era. Most of it is the same thing, and i'm happy to know that one day, through dedication and study and eventual mastery, these techniques will become much more commonplace and understood among mankind. Hence, Magic becomes Science again.
If but we knew the power of our thoughts we would guard them more closely.

Hello Everyone
I have a magic discussion group upon yahoo groups. It is by invitation only but if anyone is interested write me at nita@astralpulse.com
Everyone is studying IIH and the discussion is about guidance for any problems with Bardon's Initiation into Hermetics. I also post up ebooks for people to read and discuss. It has no ranks and is there a group to help people find their path and what they are attuened to in this life time.
