Title: path working/guided meditation
Post by: mindflood on August 22, 2012, 20:22:08
I have a book on celtic myth & magic with three written path works included. It says it is best to have someone read it to you but i dont have that option. So I am wondering would it be better to read the path work while in a relaxed state? Or record the path work and play it back?

Recording it yourself should work OK. Another person's voice might be better, but you've gotta work with what you've got.

I also think record it and play it back is a best option.

true, I cant be too picky. I read it is distracting to use your own voice, and ive tried doing that with self-hypnosis. I might try making my voice lower than it really is and play some ambient music in the background.

I tried self hypnosis a few times, in terms of audio recording and playing it back.  Mostly, I wound up rolling around in a fit of hysterical laughter... it was just too funny.

Well I dunno, if you want too, get ahold of me through the PM system here, and send me the text, I can read it, figure it, and record it, then send it to you via email.  I'd be willing to help that way, even though I feel like I'm just about eaten up with something 'bad'.

What is it anyway?  Do you like, visualize something and go through the motions of cupping your hands, having a drink, letting the drink flow back to the waters through your fingers, and things like that?  Prolly is helpful, gets the mind away from the 'death trap' of what we perceive in this reality.  After today, and how horrible I feel, I was just doing some 'vertical projection', and it took the pressure off of my head a little bit.  If at all possible, send me a copy of the guided meditation, and I would like to try it for myself.

Its almost like a short story but instead puts you in the first person. For instance "he woke up and went outside" would be "you wake up, you feel the sun on your face, you get on your feet, and walk outside".

Before being read the pathwork you are put into a trance and given suggestions that will help you play out the pathwork. And once you are there so to speak you do not have to continue following it but may want to because the pathwork achieves a particular goal.

Different traditions have different pathworks. For instance the book i was going to use was on celtic magic so it used celtic deities and mythology in it.

If you can type well enough, make a copy and load the text file into a tts engine (text to speech).
You then have a choice of voices accents etc. I have the Ivona system and would rate it at 99%. The pico system is nowhere near the standard I expect. Ooooow.  :-)

Are either of those systems free?

Yes, both. You get the pico on mobile phones as standard, thats a quality smart phone. The Ivona is an app and has advertising as payment but these are hardly noticed.
Search for 'Mantano Reader'. You can purchase it but its expensive. I chose Amy as the reading voice and use it at work. The guys there who heard it on loudspeaker asked "who's that girl recording all those books for you?"
I typed an answer in a witty response... Some photographed pdf texts can't be read however, these are 100+ years old and difficult to read anyway.
