Yes. I have a few times. Are you interested in summoning? For what purpose?

Some books that can help you get a grasp on it are.

Pacts With the Devil by Christopher Hyatt
the law is for All by Crowley
Angels, demons, and gods of teh New Millenium by Lon Milo Duquette.
Crowleys Illustrtated Goetia.
The Middle Pillar by Israel Regardie.

Anything related to OTO or Thelema. Find your HGA before you play with the Goetic demons.
Smoke is NOT a good medium fo manifestations. Use a black mirror to skry. Or use a regular mirror flanked by two candles. Do a LBRP before and after summoning.

P.S. I'll try to answer specific questions or at least point you in the right direction[8D]

Recalling that Arc is only 14 I should add that one should have a firm head on ones shoulders before summoning. Study some jungian psychology, study some various philosophies both political and religious. If you cannot find something less troublesome that can help you then so be it. Treat teh entities with a bit of caution, a good helping of courage, a lot of respect and yet have some boundaries. You will get what you expect or you will get nothing. Be patient but firm. Read some myths, do some research on teh demons or entities before you summon them. Many are abused gods.[V][B)] Do not curse them, for they are happy to be contacted and at times wont want to leave. Astaroth is the goddess Ishtar and her breath will not kill you. Consider the source of all you read and hear. for example, an aescetic monk will see sexuality as a threat[:O] thus they will conceive sensual entities as threats. So too can one inadvertently overblow their ego and project their own shadows onto the screen. Read some stuff on chronozon as to ensure avaoidance of megalomania and other such destructive behavior.

Sorry to be preachy...just don't want ya to hurt yerself[:D]

Ekron

"Summoning Spirits" by Konstantinos is a wonderful book to guide you to the path of magical evocation.

Please, please do not tred this path out of idle curiosity but use it as way to spiritual enlightenment[:)]

If you are just wondering if summoning spirits is real. It is. If you at 14 years of age (or any age for that matter) are hoping to try it out, I think you should first do a few months or research as to why you'd want to do this, not to mention how. But I'd focus more on the why part. If you are going to be summoning anything, I'd start with friendly spirits such as elementals and not with demons as was suggested. Further, it is safer and easier to meet spirits in the Astral planes than it is to evoke them into the physical plane (easier for you to travel there than to prepare an environment on Earth to allow them to manifest here). Safer even, is to view them via skrying (using a magic mirror/crystal ball etc), but this requires some level of clairvoyance.

If you are just wanting proof that spirits exist, why not procure your own spirit and try to OBE? That's a much safer and simpler approach and one you will likely have a much higher chance in succeeding at in the near future.

Also it should be mentioned that if you think evocation is as easy as just following the instructions you can decipher in some grimoir, like saying a bunch of foreign words in latin inside a pretty and complex illuminated magic circle - That will have only the result of you standing around in the middle of a forest, or wherever you do it, and feeling a little foolish when after days or weeks of preperation and executing some elaborate ritual  - absolutely nothing happens!

Unlike Harry Potter, magic isn't as easy as learning a bunch of latin rhyming words that produce some effect - because they don't ;-).  Theurgy, or high magic (which among other things involves the practice of summoning spirits), has as one of its main purposes the ability to allow the magician to learn about other planes of existance by communicating and gathering info from spirits of those planes.

So it is not just for entertainment or curiosity purposes like trying to prove to yourself that spirits in general exist. Further, it serves little purpose for a magician to summon a spirit to the physical plane unless he wants something (other than information) from that spirit. And believe me, it is no easy task to do this. By that I don't just mean that you have to organize some complex ritual and purchase or create fancy magical items. What I mean is you will have to likely spend *YEARS* of practice in acquiring the necessary power to actually be able to perform any summoning ritual and have it actually work for you.

At 14, I'd suggest try to OBE and perhaps start reading some books if you are just curious. I would also recommend the Konstantinos book, but I feel much of the method in that book is a highly condensed version of what is already found in "The Practice of Magical Evocation" by Franz Bardon, which by the way, explains in great detail the ins and outs of summoning spirits, not to mention how to do it safely. The "Middle Pillar" book is a good book (but not so much on summoning spirits per se), however the English is fairly complex and the author tends to wander off topic at every oportunity like he does in most of his other books -although to his credit, he does seem to know what he is talking about, albeit his view of things is a bit biased.

Reading "Pacts with the Devil", *if* that is any kind of an instructional manual (hopefuly it is not - I haven't read it yet), is about the last type of book and especially the last type of practice I'd recommend!!

No, wait, let me rephrase that... it is not even the "last" type of practice I'd recommend. It is the type of practice I'd *NEVER* recommend! Summoning demons that you are 100% in control of, is one thing, entering in a pact with one is a whole other ball game.

Tread carefuly out there and be wise, not just curious,

Excellent replies xander, Adept_of_Light

For years ive had a passing interest in high magic. I have found that recently (for whatever reason) that passing curiousity has grown. Your book recommedations have certainly helped me research the subject better.

Cheers,

Mo!

Arc

i didnt plan on doing any of this, as i would just stick to a more direct magic. I just wanted to know what your experiences were, and if you even summoned anything before.
