Hello finally! I have been trying to join here, and it turns out this site is not a fan of Hotmail!

Anyway, I would tell you a bit about myself but i'm sure there is an introductory thread somewhere? Just trying to get this out
before my partner comes home from work. They think i'm weird enough already :p

The first experience I would like to share happened when I was very young, but i've always remembered it. I must have been around six
or seven. I sat up in bed and hopped on the floor. Looked to my right. There were people there, they were dark and I couldnt see them too
well but I knew they were there. Three men and one woman talking heatedly among each other. I was frightened and went to my light switch, I felt the plastic. Before i could turn it on the woman turned around and urgently told me to go back. So i ran back to bed and woke up straight away.

I have always thought this was a nightmare, but now i'm not so sure?

The second experience happened the other night. I sat up in bed to hear loud machinery, like my neighbours were drilling outside. I looked to my curtains and there was an orange yellow light from outside. I couldnt remain sat up in bed, i felt drowzy and couldnt fight it so i lay back down. Then to experience sleep paralysis. In which i saw (or imagined?) my partner moving quickly about the room, felt her stroke my face. All the time i couldnt move. Of course then there was panic, I havent experienced sleep paralysis since I was a small child. I wish i diddnt and could have tried projection willingly!

Help?

Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse!

Check out this Sticky here, it should speak volumes to you. Bedeekin is quite knowledgeable when it comes to this topic.

Actually, while you are at it, check out all the Stickies found on this website, they are highly informative!

Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Sorry I posted in the wrong place. Thank you for the link, very informative.

I guess I could tell you guys a little about me?
This is not the type of message board I'm used to
but I guess this is how it's done lol

I'm a 25 year old female from the South of England.
I'm a care worker, currently of the Elderly. I love music,
Photography and my Xbox!

I found this site ages ago when I woke up from a dream
That I had full control over. I flew! It was so amazing! So
I discovered it was called lucid dreaming. This leading me to
Astral PRojection. Then I recalled my experiences and became
Very interested.

I'm finding it quite hard because I suffer from insomnia which stems
From anxiety. So relaxing is not something I'm used to without medication.
Quetiapine - for anyone who knows their meds. This drug would make it
Harder to project right? I should probably try the lucid dreaming technique.

Sorry if this post is disjointed and poorly written, I'm on my iPod.

Nice to meet you all, forgive my lack of knowledge. I am here to learn :)

xx

Hello Sabriel. There is no need to apologize. I just thought your introduction would get more response in this section. No harm, no foul!  :-)

There seems to be a number of members here that suffer from insomnia or anxiety. Could this be some kind of link? That's a good question. Possibly it has to do with the fact that some people with insomnia and anxiety problems don't really let go totally when they fall asleep. That all those interruptions cause them to awaken even in their Dreams and that once they do, they are as anxious or easily disrupted as they are in this reality.

I would love to see some kind of Research results on this. I'm sure someone has tested this theory.

Like I said, no harm, no foul. We are all here to learn.

Reading another thread here just now, I found that my question was answered yesterday by Bedeekin. Here's his statement.

"Over the years I've studied SP in every way but the academic route. I still might pursue that.

This method was actually reproduced (in it's original protracted form) in Ryan Hurd's book 'Sleep Paralysis: a Dreamer's Guide'. I still haven't bought the book but apparently it helps some people who 'suffer' from SP avoid it... by not napping.

It's interesting to note that the largest group who suffer from RISP are narcoleptics. We all know what narcolepsy is and that its main symptom is that the afflicted will fall asleep at random and inopportune times. This sets up the perfect conditions for them to experience SP. After reading a few statistics about Narc sufferers who experience SP it reveals an interesting pattern in their frequency of when they nap which correlates closely with what I have learned and how I do it.

The other group who 'suffers' from RISP is those who are stressed. It appears that this is brought about because of the same sleep schedule I accidentally imposed on myself. They would lie awake worrying at night while their body went to sleep.... and the cycle would begin."
