Hello, fellow travelers.

I've only been looking around your forums for a short period, but I feel there is much that can be learned here, so I decided to become a member.
A little bit about myself is in order: I've tried out many spiritual paths and practices until I found it is best to make my own path.

Right now I am focusing on mastering constant awareness of my surroundings in both my waking life and dream journeys, Mental stillness/peace, Pranayama, Lucid dreaming and recall, and various energy work.

I have only had one astral projection in my lifetime, and that was several years ago, and very short. However, I have experienced the vibrational state before exit many times, and had not felt it in many years. Recently, I have been practicing spiritual journeys through the use of drumming, and although I have experienced many internal journeys with this, I found that the drum beat is slowly starting to enter me into the vibrational state, starting from my legs. It has always started from my midsection, or upper body.

I hope to learn much and have many good conversations with you all.

This is my focus right now too.  Except Pranayama, though I do practice belly breathing now after taking a yoga class.  It's starting to become a habit.  Have any tips on constantly staying mindful in the present moment?

Oh, it takes some practice. I've been going at it for about three years, and I still have my moments where I get caught up in the old flows of thought streams and highly energized moments.

I would suggest breathing deeply and slowly. This calms your body and mind, allowing you to be more alert and aware. It also brings fresh oxygen to your blood and brain, which helps in being alert.

Focus intensely on your surroundings rather than the internal. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the feel. You know you are mindful when you have very little internal dialogue, and are in a constant state of peace and calm.

For those moments with high energy that seem made to drag you out of awareness, take some time out of the situation, meditate, and re-center yourself. If you have to return to the situation, you can do it for only a few minutes; just "catch some air", and again, focus on sensation, and clear yourself.

It's hard at first, because most of us are not brought up to be mindful, but eventually, it gets easy, and is your natural state of being.

I think I was very mindful when I was very little.  The thing that stands out most in my memories from then is my state of mind.  It was so different from what it is now.  My focus just gradually got distracted by my mind and turned inward as I got older and had to think more.
