Hello everyone, my name is Rob. I have been "into" all things metaphysical and "alternative" pretty much all my life. I have always believed strongly in the paranormal, and even have experienced things myself which I can hardly explain but understand, if that makes sense? I have also alot of research on eastern philosophies, and tend to identify with Taoism more and more everyday. Along with that, as a musician, and I'm sure any other musician will tell you too, I've experienced "the zone" many many times. very much looking forward to exploring and benefitting from all the great info here!

lol shoot in my zeal to join and post I left it out, sorry! Anyway, I've been reading so much about OBE that I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the information and different techniques. I've read books by Buhlman, Don Degracia, and a few by Robert Bruce. I think I have confused myself, because I am able to get the relaxation, the trance, the "headrush" and rush of energy, even the feeling of floating, but at that point I don't know what to do! I know I'm not separated because I can still feel being in my body but using for instance the rope technique I'm not sure what my etheric arms are supposed to be. Do I try to actually force my arm up and then it won't move but an etheric one will? Or do I just imagine my arms grabbing rope (or anything else). I have the same misunderstanding about rolling out or sitting up to get out.

Maybe you just need a little more time in trance how long do you practice for?

Sounds like you can get into the trance state fine, which is the hard part for me. My past few experiences I have "rolled out." I was confused at how it works too at first, but it really is effortless. Once your in that state where you feel the vibrational energy rushing through your body, move it around throughout your body. For me it would just surge all over most of the time. Then I imagine myself rolling to the side. It all happens so quick I may have actually tried to move as if I was still in the physical. hehe Give both a shot.

Thank you for the advice and the welcome guys. I usually try it 3 times a day (because I work from home and have the time). Once in the morning once late afternoon, and one at night. It usually goes 25-30 minutes I would say from start till when I "give up" lol. I am able to get in trance fairly quickly it seems, I think part of that is because I have been doing that much for a long time with meditation and such. One thing I'm not too clear on is if there's a "now or never" type thing.. Meaning when I feel the trance take hold, do I have to get to it or can I wait until I'm ready and go? I've noticed when the trance induces my heart rate shoots wayyy up and I feel a huge pressure in my forehead, but after a few minutes they both calm down. At that point I can still feel the vibrations or energy surging through me. I can deepen the trance (I guess that's what it is) and the heart will race and the forehead pressure will start again, and I've read that that point is when the body is creating the energy-double to expel but it's all guesswork at this point! Thanks again!

Heya! I'm new too :)
I've found some solid energy work (half our to an hour) before meditation really boosts my experience.
Robert Bruce has some really powerful techniques in his Energy Work book - just be careful with em' they can cause weird side effects and be painful if you're not in a good mental state when you do them.

Hey there Kaul, welcome to you too! I really like Robert Bruce's energy work book. I incorporate his techniques of body awareness up and down each leg and arm as part of my relaxation or induction technique. Usually that alone after my normal relaxation starts the beginning of trance induction. I didn't think much of it at first, but in practice a few times I can really feel the results.

My biggest problem is I just don't know when to try and separate, or what separating by "rolling out" actually means. I tried tonight, and from start to (unsuccessful) finish it took 17 minutes. I would say around ten minutes in the "vibrations" or tingling started throughout my body, heart began to race, intense pressure in my forehead, and rapid eye movement began. At that point, my body felt heavy as a rock and I tried rolling out and successfully rolled over in my physical body lol.

Hey there Rob,
Just read your post. I too am a musician and second that feeling of "in the zone". I think improvisational soloing was as close as I came to anything truly spiritual Before conscious astral projection. There are undoubtably many avid projectors here with much wisdom so take all you can! Haha
I myself have studied and managed the art of conscious separation over the last few years and share a course with others here in south Florida. If you have any specific questions or just want to chat I'd love to hear from you. Keep playing whatever you play and stay connected!
A wonderful day to you brother!
Joseph Kenneth.
