Just a quick hello and thanks for accepting me :3 I'd like to recount something that happened a couple of nights ago and what prompted me to join this forum. Here goes...

Early about 3:30/4:00am on the 15th of this month I had the weirdest experience ever. It started out me going to sleep and suddenly becoming conscious I was dreaming while asleep. I saw my hand reach for my e-cig (which I leave on my bed next to me at night along with my phone) but instead of picking it up my hand went straight thought it. Like I was a ghost or something. I tried to get up but it was so difficult to do that. I remember several times struggling and shuffling to the edge of the bed but still feeling attached to the space I was struggling away from. Every time I thought I'd broken free and woken up I'd suddenly be laid right back on my side where I'd fallen asleep. This went on several times, all the time totally aware that I was dreaming. I began to panic because I was in a constant loop of thinking I'd woken only to find I was still asleep. This I think turned into sleep paralysis because suddenly I was trapped on my side but conscious and trying to wake up. I began screaming at the top of my voice, "Get off me! Let me go!!" After doing this I had a terrible headache in the front of my head and as I finally woke (for real this time) I still had the headache. I got up and had to touch things to make sure they were real, I still felt like it was a dream for a bit. I sat on the toilet for about ten minutes making sure I was awake. I was... I was then scared to go back to sleep because I was worried I'd get trapped again. I didn't though :) But the next night I was aware of sleep paralysis coming on again. I opened my eyes and saw a faded, almost see-through little boy staring at me by the side of my bed. In my head I said "Nope!" and woke up almost immediately. Last night I didn't have anything like that but did have very vivid dreams. The few nights previous to the 15th I'd had very little sleep so it's possible that all that was the result of sleep deprivation. I've had lots of varying degrees of sleep paralysis in the past but this one on the 15th really shook me up. I've never meditated on it or tried to induce this kind of thing (never knew you could!) I don't particularly believe in the spiritual aspect of it but don't dismiss it either. I came here to tell my tale and see if it fits with anyone else's experiences.

Anyway, thanks again and for reading this. Take care xxx

There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Welcome shmoo.  :-)   I've experienced all that you posted.  It's very typical stuff around here!  With some knowledge and experience it gets easier.  The fear leaves and the fun begins!

Thanks to both of you for the warm welcomes and thanks, Szaxx for the article on sleep paralysis. It's actually cleared quite a bit up by explaining things scientifically about the processes the body and mind go through in different stages of sleep. I'm not so scared of it now heheh :D The biggest fear is you'll be trapped in this never ending loop or trapped physically but still there mentally. Now I know this won't happen and is a perfectly natural part of the sleep process and it's little malfunctions.

Thanks so much. Gonna go have a look around other posts now and find out some more on the spiritual side of it xxx
