Permanently Grounded

I had my first (and thus far only) OBE when I was about 18 (I'm now in my 50's) inspired to try it out after reading a series of books by authors Lobsang Rampa and Yogi Ramacharaka, both of whom I subsequently discovered to be so-called 'fakes'. Regardless of that fact, their OBE-inducing techniques certainly worked for me and the results changed my outlook on life completely after my one and only successful 'projection'. It happened like this:

I was alone in my grandma's house at around midmorning one day and decided to try to induce an OBE by following some relaxation techniques I learned from the authors above. I hadn't made more than 3 or 4 attempts prior to this day and wasn't really expecting much to happen to be quite honest. I went thru all the muscle tightening/relaxation exercises I'm sure most of you are already familiar with and basically I guess I fell asleep at some point while laying in my granny's bedroom. Suddenly I came back to full consciousness and found myself in the dining room which was the room immediately next to her bedroom. Maybe I should say I came back to "hyper-consciousness" instead of just plain old consciousness because I really can't remember ever having been so AWARE and FOCUSED. However, and here comes the truly amazing part that has forever changed my outlook on life, as soon as I 'came to' my vision was 360 DEGREES in all directions! I found myself 'floating' as if I were somewhere centered in the dining room yet I was capable of seeing everything SIMULTANEOUSLY! Specifically, I was able to focus on EVERY SINGLE object in the room at the same time, unlike normal vision where you really only 'see' the things you focus on directly whilst everything else kinda just fades away towards the periphery. In this experience there WAS NO periphery. No forward or back nor even upside down really even though I understood during the experience that I was viewing things mostly from the "correct" perspective (i.e. meaning upright, from what would equate to the viewpoint of a normal standing person). Absolutely every knick knack in the room down to the smallest detail seemed to be equally in visual focus simultaneously: ceiling, floor & all four walls too! The label that best describes the experience would be 'hyper-vision' IMO. Moreover, my vision was COMPLETELY unobstructed. Usually when I look at anything (and I only came to notice this fact AFTER my experience) I can see a bit of my own eyebrows and nose yet during this experience there was absolutely NOTHING obstructing my view in any way. Somehow I kind of WAS the room, while still remaining me. Hard to describe.

The experience was so powerful I immediately thought to myself with amazing clarity while still in the "dream": "This can't be a dream because I know I'm here plus you can't 'dream' in vivid 360 vision, an ability I never even IMAGINED existed!. BUT just in case maybe I should look for something unique in this room that I can come back to look for afterwards as 'evidence'".
So I allowed my attention to focus under my grandma's old fashioned record player, you know, the old bulky ones that look like a little table and that you could also actually store vinyl record LP's inside of.  I saw that there was an old burnt wooden match lying underneath there covered in dust and I made a mental note of it. Very shortly after I did that the experience abruptly ended (I have no idea how long it lasted BUT I would venture to say it couldn't have been more than 10 seconds perhaps) I 'woke up' from my grandma's bed and immediately RUSHED straight towards the dining room to look under the record player: lo & behold, there was the burnt match lying in the dust! For the record, I had NEVER looked under that piece of furniture ever before.

Needless to say, this experience provided me with UNDISPUTED PROOF (at least for ME) that life certainly continues outside the body, hence there is NO DEATH! The sad part is that I never ever tried to repeat the experience because of all of Lobsang Rampa's & Yogi Ramacharaka's dire warnings that "fools dare go where even angels would never dare tread" etc. I was afraid that I was delving in issues WAAAAAaaaaaaaay beyond my league and that I might possibly run into 'evil entities' and such.  What a dumbass! I wasted DECADES of valuable research time due to my stupid fears. But you have to understand that back then there were practically NO resources such as Astral Pulse to consult regarding these matters other than some dubious New Age authors and such. So I turned to religion/s, studied each and every one of them, then dumped them as soon as I sensed that they had no f'ing clue what they were talking about. For me it was like they all had a little kernel of truth wrapped up in centuries of BS piled atop and I eventually abandoned them ALL as being childish toys.

Now finally I've resumed exploring the possibilities of inducing another OBE after so many years because I finally realized what an excellent opportunity for learning/advancement they can provide! Also, after living on this planet for 50+ years, I've come to the realization that the WORST, MOST EVIL & DEGENERATE  DEMONS THAT EVER EXISTED are actually inhabiting THIS PLANET RIGHT NOW in the physical form. Moreover, many of them are politicians, lawyers, judges and others whom most 'normal' people regularly look up to and regard as their "leaders". Hence all my fears of what 'evil' I may encounter while out of body have become meaningless!
I've been at it for about 3 weeks now making multiple attempts per day to 'project" (I put the word project in parenthesis because I'm still not utterly sure if one is going OUTWARDS or INWARDS during an OBE!) but NOTHING HAPPENS! Sure, I get some vibrations and swaying sensations but other than that I invariably end-up falling asleep. I do have interesting dreams sometimes BUT certainly not 'realistic' enough to be considered 'lucid' in any way shape or form. My greatest conundrum is WHY? Why was I able to have such a powerful experience back then after only a few tries yet NOW I can't repeat it? That's precisely why I chose the screen name "'Permanently Grounded" BTW, lol.

Anyhow I'm glad to have found this forum and likewise all you kindred spirits! I look forward to learning much here from all of you! Best regards!

EDIT UPDATE: Fixed a few grammatical errors and added a few more details that came to memory after posting about my experience up above. I never really shared my story with anyone other than my wife (she seemed mildly amused with my "creative imagination" at the time  ..lol) nor given it much thought in recent years so some details took a while to come back. Also, there were NO DRUGS involved in my experience above, either legal or otherwise. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Permanently Grounded

102 views so far and not ONE single commentary/response to what I posted. I'm not surprised though. In all my research over the years regarding OBE's and astral projection I rarely if EVER hear anyone mention the topic of 360 degree vision during out of body experiences. William Buhlman and Tom Campbell among a very few others mention it superficially in passing but don't really delve further into the subject, which leads me to believe that VERY few people have ever experienced it.

I'd sure like to hear from others who have had this experience and their opinion on what kind of OBE experience it constitutes, i.e. in comparison to the more traditional OBE versions wherein this visual effect doesn't happen.

Welcome to the forums Permanently Grounded!
This is an interesting experience that you lived there,
Some people on the forums rather stay silent about their experiences, they lived it and someone posted about it, this will act as a confirmation for them, but they won't reply to your post or they'll reply to your post but won't give you a clue if they had the same experience as you lol.
But it doesn't mean that you are alone to have lived it.

I hope you make good progress with us in the future!
However I noticed something very common and a misconception of what most people call evil.
This can slow down your progress or stop it completely.
Evil is just a concept of someone letting the desires take over their mind.
Money, technology, sex, etc....
Any desires can make you do crazy things in order to accomplish your goals.

If a man learns to live in happiness with very little, he will not seek happiness elsewhere.
Most people give up to their desires and that's what makes things bad. Not the people themselves.
Everyone is at a different stage in their spiritual progress, some just barely started and don't understand.

If a politician give up to his desire of wealth he will agree with different people and might come across a company that wants to put more publicity on TV. The company gives him money so that he may agree with the contract.
There's more publicity on TV and now everyone want their product. Desires.
Some people can't afford the product so they steal it from someone or do bad things to get it.

Same goes for sex, or anything else. Desire push people to do stupid things.
It's not the people who we should be angry at, they couldn't resist their desires.
Obviously, I find it very sad that a lot of bad things happen everyday to people.
But I think it's the only way we can learn. By making mistakes.

The best way to see it is to pray that people resist their desires.
Have hope for them.
When you can meditate with that in mind, then you can meditate without having crimes and other stuff bugging you.

Let everything go, hope for the best around you and hope for a sign from god that you are on the right path.
He will show you eventually.
Don't expect too much tho :P he can be busy sometimes hahaha.

Have fun on the forums and if you have some issues about anything you can PM me!

And I was in the same situation PG. and I'm about the same age. I can relate to the frustration. But I see emotional clues here that may be obstacles to remembering what your doing. you are projecting but your blocking the memory possibly because it conflicts with your beliefs and emotional state.

Anger... big obstacle

I've been at it for about 3 weeks now making multiple attempts per day to 'project" (I put the word project in parenthesis because I'm still not utterly sure if one is going OUTWARDS or INWARDS during an OBE!) but NOTHING HAPPENS! Expectations. ..... another obstacle You are projecting your not remembering. When you fall asleep your out. your heart is asleep and you have to wake it up.

FEAR  a big one. your describing quite an extreme fear of people in leadership positions. Are you afraid of meeting God if you go out. ....   There's not thing to be afraid of out there. you logically rationalizing it but it's still there and is readily apparent it takes some work to get past the head and into the heart.

These patterns are entrenched. I think it takes a lot more going inward and cleaning out the junk when your 50 than it does when your 20.  I would suggest going over a couple things first Kepples files are good and they can help you learn to do that inward look. Second the divine connection. Actually I found it to be the most effective thing. I recommend Edgar Cayce's work on this. He talks about the divine connection quite a bit and he was a projector par excelance. He was at 80!!!! projecting 7 times a day using self hypnosis to do readings to help people with their health problems... oh yes if you read his description of how he did it .. it's definietly projection. he didn't remember anything though. Shows how varied the experiences can be. The material to look over is on psychic and spiritual readings... forget the earth change stuff.

Basically you have to meditate looking inward and keep doing so til you get through.  It's not so much making something to happen as letting go ... of everything that your clinging so desperately to... including your body.  We talk about awakenings here on this thread. It might be helpful in developing the ability to remember.

Hi PG, same age or close at least lol.
The 360 degree perception is normal. I went through lots of experiences where my centre of perception was moved away and when you think you're moving forwards you're travelling sidewards. It is confusing to say the least but once you get the familiarity with it  you realign to the centre and everything goes back to how it should be. I did this in '69 along with a host of lessons in the NP.
More recently it hasn't been an attribute of my experiences.
The thoughts you have floating around should be pleasant in nature. The reactiveness of the NP will influence these thoughts and that's one major issue to deal with. Fear being the most prominent followed by doubt, removing these issues will greatly increase your success.
Planet Earth does have some nasty guys upon it. These are few and the barrel of apples may be rejected by one bad one. Is that a good reason to reject all? Nope, remove the cause of the badness and the rest will be seen as good. The way you percieve things may need a little adjustment in this respect. You have far more ability to see trouble once you're out there, it's instinctively known and in many experiences its easily removed. A simple recognition of something that grabs your attention is enough to remove anything that could be seen as negative.
In 50 years there's been nothing that trapped me or scared me enough to return. I can't count the experiences, I've had far too many in a myriad of environments from dark to total light.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

"FEAR  a big one. your describing quite an extreme fear of people in leadership positions."

I have absolutely no fear or anger whatsoever towards people in leadership positions. A slight disgust, maybe. I merely acknowledge the reality that most of them are corrupt and evil. The fact is that we live in a country that has legalized torture, legalized financial fraud, it drone bombs innocent children every day as they play soccer 7422 miles away from here, it invades foreign nations under false pretenses consistently, it has legalized kidnappings, it operates secret courts, it destroys the environment, it persecutes truth-tellers & whistleblowers, it purposely destroys education, it encourages racism, it commits acts of terrorism against itself and other nations, it rewards the criminal elements of society and it is currently in the process of morphing into a full blown Police State. Yet I am not "fearful" of any of this because I understand that I am immortal and that my passage through this planet is temporary. My guiding philosophy is that I am NOT here to set things right but to SEE them rightly.

Patriotism & misplaced confidence in so-called 'leaders' is yet ANOTHER belief system trap that all people will sooner or later need to abandon if they expect to make any spiritual progress, this much I know.

Best Regards!

Go inward and go deep see what's down there. Something is stopping you.. going deep inward the only way to find it. At our age there's lots of time and reason for garbage and walls to come up. Anger expectations, fears.= baggage. Projection isn't something you make happen.. you allow it to happen. Letting go is the only way and strong emotions tend to hold you back.

I'm just looking at what's there and interpreting what I read. I'm glad your not afraid. There are nutcases out there for sure.

Agreed. I recently came to the realization that my approach to 'projecting' was simply too demanding, almost as if I was trying to force it to happen. But then I heard a very wise comment made by Tom Campbell in a Youtube video where he says that you don't need to project in order to expand consciousness. Spiritual growth according to him can be obtained in any venue as long as that (i.e. growth) is the underlying intent. I tend to grant Mr. Campbell a LOT of credibility due to the calm lucidity of his logic which so effectively ties traditional science into the 'paranormal'.  Hence I truly believe that my conscious 'projection' will come to me when I'm ready for it and not one second before that. But in the meantime it won't matter, because growth is what it's all about, isn't it? It's certainly perhaps the ONLY thing I'll take with me when my physical existence is over!

Maybe my one & only OBE was a kind of 'freebie' I earned in some past life or something. A reminder that this world is not the be-all & end-all of life and that there are MUCH bigger realities at work all around us. In that sense my one & only OBE sure did the job! Lol, looks like the freebies are over now for me ...I'll have to EARN my next experience!

Best regards.

The growth/wisdom and knowledge/memory is the only thing that you will carry after death.
To me helping people around me live a better life and find peace of mind, and being zen is the only thing that truly drives me.
Personal growth and to see others find that meaningful truth, that path to the mystery is the only real thing you can experience in life.

Uh, actually NO ONE mentions experiencing 360 degree vision in this link you provided. Did you read thru them? For the record; 360 degree vision is seeing in all directions simultaneously.
