Hi all. I'm happy to get back into an online community such as this, as I have been having LDs and OBEs for 10ish years now, but have not belonged to a forum for some time indeed! As my name suggests, I am a SKEPTIC, lol. Despite the overwhelming experiences I have had (which I am sure I will share soon enough!) I am also a lil too rational, and believe my brain may be a very VERY powerful organ indeed... all that aside. I found myself in a very conducive place for OBEs (for me) today. For me, it is that time when I am tired, but not enough to go into deep sleep. I stay lucid. I almost can't HELP but "leave my body" during these times. Back in high school, when I first started experiencing "astral phenomenon" it would even happen when I would lay my head on the desk at school! It's funny because I worked so HARD to make it happen for YEARS, before the skepticism of of course ;) then, once I figured out the best method for me, it's TOO easy. So, ANYWAYS, my biggest roadblock, and honestly, the biggest reason for being so skeptical is my astral blindness. I read about it in the FAQ, but it didn't really answer my questions. It only confirmed it is a COMMON problem. That's where YOU all come in! yea! I can't see :( As in the FAQ, sometimes when I try to open my eyes, I affect my PHYSICAL eyes. No good. I have trouble getting very far away from my body as well. When it comes down to it, I am quite a beginner, despite the fact I can't even count the number of experiences I have had. I can elaborate on anything pertaining to these experiences if you all would like, but I figured I would start with this, and see what you all want to know about me and my OBEs to best help me out. I'm tired of bouncing around in the DARK!!!! lol. BTW, I do have SOME sense of my physical surroundings, but not with complete confidence. It's more like, I think I am about at my door or, I have reached the ceiling of my room... if that helps. Today, I managed to get A WEE WEE bit of sight, but through the slits of my eyes I think, and I think they were the wrong eyes too. The tangible ones :( Hope to hear from you all soon! I also have some good knowledge and exp. with LDing. Hope I can add to and help the community here! Thanks!!!!
First, allow me to welcome you to AP! :-D You've come to the right place.
Next, I feel it would be unfair to give you any advice without first telling you a little about myself, but feel free to skip this if you feel it unnecessary. I'm one of the few that started trying to project before actually having any type of conscious experience, be it OOBE, LD, AP or anything of the sort. As of recent, I consider this to be a blessing as I have learned that it is actually quite fun to learn to walk before I run and my progress is amazing as I am ecstatic about every tiny milestone. My biggest achievement, in my opinion, is reaching focus 10. (Mind awake/ Body asleep) Some would argue that what I've done during my F10 state is an achievement, but I'm counting milestones, of which my next hopeful is full blown OOBE or AP.
Today, I have been meditating more than usual and focusing on creating a scenery much like the typical rundown, a happy place if you will. This has done wonders for my visualizing and I hopped into the scene more than once, but as you are more interested in RTZ OOBE's, I'll just leave you with what I can. Try to engage all of your senses, rather than sight alone, and you may very well find yourself in a more vivid and sustainable state. Also, looking at your non physical self is said to work wonders, but I find my tactile sense works better to bring my other senses to par. Happy travels and I hope you stay active in the community!
Welcome to the Pulse 8-)
i would say your lack of vision is a low energy problem if i was you id do some NEW energy work or some purple flame energy raising like this

to gain vision
:NoY:
Thanks for moving this, I thought I looked for an introduction thread, but I must not have looked very hard!
wow. I went and looked at those energy exercises. Maybe I def started running before walking. you see, I can reach a state where i can leave my body so easily. i will tell you a bit about my process, and maybe that will help give you all a bit more framework here. i usually don't set out to have OBEs anymore. Usually, i am just laying down for a nap or something of the sort. It starts as a very strange sensation (energy?) that I can only think to describe as starting to feel slightly detached from my physicality. At this point i've done it enough, I just focus on maybe freeing my "feet" or something first, until I only feel like I am in my head, then, I will try all "roll over". Instead of actually falling out of bed, I free my astral body. At that point, I have had many different levels of control. The time I accidentally projected in class, I felt like I had to literally drag myself away from my body, the first OBE I ever had I had no control and bounced around, continuously floating to the ceiling, and more recently I have some control of where I go, but I feel so "blind" and overwhelmed I don't usually make it far. I will ABSOLUTELY check out some more info on the forums here, as it seems step one is to take a more methodical approach, and get back to actually educating myself about exercises I can do. I guess I am silly for thinking well, the hard part is over, I can leave my body, so there must be some instant switch to make me a better projector. *sigh* I dunno. Thoughts???
Greetings Skeptic and welcome.
I am curious what you are skeptical about? A lucid dream is simply an experience where a person realizes that they are dreaming and/or can control that dream. That is relatively straightforward and since you have had been have to lucid dream for many years now I assume that you are Not skeptical about that (?)
An OBE is an experience where a person's consciousness (soul, spirit, or astral body) separates and exists apart and independent of their physical body. Are you skeptical that there is an actual separation of consciousness from the physical body? (Many people are skeptical of this BTW). Or is there some other aspect of the OBE that gives rise to disbelief?
Regards

yes, i am skeptical about whether i am really leaving my body or not even though it certainly feels that way. i'm not a skeptic about lucid dreams. i have had plenty of em. :) my lucid dreams should make me less skeptical about OBEs though, really, i have had discussions with "spirit guide" types in the dreams. however, at the time these convos occured, i was deeply interested in all of this type of subject matter, and can't help wonder if that was contrived as well. i don't like being a skeptic. lol. i want it to be real (i know i am going to hear about that statement!), but i am just too rational. i can't have "faith" in the reality of it. i tend to dismiss it as the power of my mind etc. arguments i am sure you have heard many many times. i am willing to, and would like to, believe it if it seems the most rational explanation for my experiences. and i think i mentioned before, if i could fix the astral blindness problem, i think i would be more convinced. the fact i can't see makes it seem more likely i, and my consciousness, are still laying in bed and that's why i can't see! lol, but if i can work on that i don't think it would take more than a little nudge to convince me i am not in a physical state of being during the times i feel i am having an OBE.
It's simple really... Keep having experiences, and eventually you will be able to answer your own skepticism.
It's the only way as nobody can answer it for you.
Welcome to the astral pulse. :-)
