I am reading a book written about him at the moment, it's called "There is a river" by Thoman Sugrue. It is a fantastic book! It explains how his "Association for Research and Enlightenment" came to be today, and everything in his life from when he was a kid. I would recommend it to anyone!
That was the first book i read that mentioned reincarnation. I loved his take on the whole thing. I read "There is a river" when i was about 15 (over ten years ago) and i kind of mark it as the beginning of my awakening to these types of things.
goingslow: Yeah, i just finished it yesterday, it really was an eye opener, big time!
One of my favourite lines was:
"The soul is about to take flight; do not grieve".
That to me, shows logic that the person is about to die, but it also shows a higher entity, or intelligence coming from the superconsciousness or universal consciousness.
Since the beginning of my exploration into psychic abilites i have always debated that there was a God like the chritians said etc, if God was anything to me, it was energy itself.
But, before i started the book, maybe a week before, i became aware inside my mind of a power, something bigger than us, something that almost dictates what we do spiritually. Then reading his book made me think even more about it, and as much as i would of hated to admit it a year ago, i am edging towards the belief that there is a God.
Also, something else which occured to me while reading this book was that Edgar said that when we make a decision consciously (with the conscious mind) it gets passed to the subconscious mind for evaluation, until eventually, this decision will be passed up to the superconsciousness. So, gathering that that was said, suppose that we did believe in a God, this idea would filter through all of our consciousness's eventually opening a tunnel between all 3 consciousness's to a higher power, like Edgar did, except in a waking state!
Interesting thoughts...
What i really liked was the idea that our higherself puts us in a situation in each life where we learn lessons we need to learn. I was born and raised catholic, even went to catholic school. But the idea that God would put people in situations where they see nothing but war and pain and hurt; then put another person in a situation where they are raised in a good home.. never see any death etc. Then send one to burn eternally (out of love) and one to heaven if they did what he said and could see the "beauty" of religion to be a terrible thought.
It still amazes me people think you get one shot then god decides one lives with eternal torment and the other eternal bliss. Its such a human characteristic.. i wouldnt even respect a human who wasn't able to forgive and give another chance. And here they are painting god that way. One christian said its like a father that wants to punish his kids. No father i know no matter how bad their kids have acted would ever want to see them suffer for eternity. Its illogical and wrong.
Anyway since then reincarnation really makes so much more sense because our lives are so incredibly short. And people have such vastly different experiences.. plus with my experiences over the years i realize its way more complicated than anyone knows.
Edgar cayce was amazing too because he was a devout christian before he started having these visions. People are quick to put him down but I think he was completely legit and i really think reading that book at that time in my life changed my life and how I thought of things thereafter.
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone was near Virginia Beach, VA? The reason I ask is that we have the Edgar Cayce foundation. If anyone is in the area sometime you should definately check it out. It has the largest library on metaphysical material in the states, 2nd only to the Vatican in the world.
