I also happened to have taken up the pendulum.  I completely agree that the answers can be found inside.  However, the pendulum offers the thing that most people use to confirm their existence and that is physical manisfestation.  

I've never became comfortable using the pendulum.  It was hard for me to not overshadow it with what I wanted.  I could clearly change the answer the pendulum gave by wanting a certain answer.  I also had problems asking it questions, perhaps for a lack of things to want to know.  Also, when I'm meditating I like to sort of talk things out and let it all be very fluid, but with the pendulum you have to break things down into small chunks.  Maybe that is best...  I don't know.  

I would be interested in starting to use it again, but by the time I stopped bothering with it, I was ready to chunk the thing in the ocean.  I found it more stressful than anything else.

Haha, halfphased, maybe it was never meant to be? []  But the pendulum, or as i like to call it, pendy, is pretty choppy, and can be easily influenced by what you want to hear.  That's why it's really important to keep a clear mind, else you'll have your desires influencing the damn thing.  

Mayatnik was supposed to come out with a new course, but it seems that won't be happening...haven't heard from the old man for a while now...

hehe, that is what I told myself.  I felt much happier after giving it up.  Though, I think maybe I just was not ready for it.  The keeping a clear mind thing is something I'm working on...

I don't believe Mayatnik will be posting a new course on AP either.  However, I'm sure if you really wanted to talk to him it would not be so hard to get in touch.

But to keep things rolling and to offer us the possibility of breaking out the 'ol chain and ball [] (as I so lovingly like to refer to my pendulum as) again, what purpose would you use it for?

Maybe we can ask it about some of the topics in the prophecy & communication forums.  Haha, I never asked it if I should throw it into the ocean.  Of course, if it answered 'yes' maybe it just wanted a nice salt bath [}:)]

Hi to the both of you. Am very new here...this is my first post and I haven't really lurked about to see how things go here but I wanted to say something about my the relationship between my pendulum and I.

I can't do any "real" pendulum work because of the ease with which I can affect it's movement. It's kind of funny really. I just give it a "push" and it pretty much goes wherever I want. So that is what I use it for...to exercise that part of my mind so to speak. The thing is, there are days when it wants to play and days when it doesn't and I have to be extra specially careful to ask it ahead of time if it would like to work with me. If I don't, then it gets po'd and won't cooperate in the least. *sigh*

The strangest thing about it, is that when I went to the store to purchase a pendulum out of all the ones that I asked if they wanted to come home with me, this one almost jumped off the display...it was wriggling with excitement...so maybe it was meant to be like this for me...maybe that's what it's purpose is for me...to help me exercise.

I'm curious if anyone else has had this kind of "relationship" with their pendulum - as though it were alive. And yes, I do believe that everything has a spirit. []

Spiritkitty, I'd have to relate to your relationship with the your pendy.  Mine is makeshift, a silver chain and a jade ring.  It was a gift from one of my grandparents, so not only is it part of me, but it also has some sentimental value, which is why i chose it.  

Right away, when i decided that this necklace would be my pendy, there was some kind of connection, some kind of love between me and it.  I still love the thing, but at the moment it's gathering dust in my drawer...[]

It really is love of the silly thing. Some people have their invisible friends...I have my pendulum...it thoroughly enjoyed going to Hungary with me last month.

One more thing about my penulum and then I'll go back to the subject and please forgive me for having gone tangental...I eventually get back []

When I exercise with my pendulum, I get the distinct impression of a feeling from it akin to the feeling of a child when they are on a swing being pushed by an adult. It's kind of like a "Weeeeeee...Higher! Higher!" thing. It gives me kind of a warm fuzzy feeling...of course it could end up being a baby demon possessing it and boy when it grows up am I in trouble...LOL

As for divination, I use both runes and cards...they seem to work best for me...though I went through a period at the beginning of the year where I couldn't get anything out of either runes or cards except that they were all in a fluster about deceit and deception with no real clarity to them. It was okay when I was reading for someon else, but if I asked anything from them for me...everything said deceit...deception...no matter what I asked. I still don't know what it they were talking about...I'm sure I'll find out eventually, but they've stopped talking about it now. Either they figure that since I'm not listening anyway what's the point or I seem to have dodged a bullet.

For both the runes and the cards I like using the Norns...having born on a Saturday, I feel closest to the three sisters. I've come up with my own way of doing it for the cards. After shuffling them, I cut them into three piles and turn over the top card in each pile...is a very simple little thing but then, I don't do this for anyone but myself and very close friends and I ultimately believe in the KISS principle.

Hey All,

I just wanted to bring the prophecy and divination board back to a revelant topic, divining.  Personally I use the pendulum, and started when Mayatnik was around.  I guess i was seen as a follower, but hindsight reassures me that there definitely was no following going on...

Anyway, I haven't been doing much divining, partially because I realized that the answers can also be gotten through oneself, via meditation or contemplation. Hopefully, I'll break it back out, and start using it for whatever purpose.

I'm sure there are plenty of other diviners out there.  I just wanted to get you all to talk about it []
