How can I tell an aura from the scientific thing they said about two contrasting colors meeting?  An article said it was some compensation the brain made.

James S

There are a couple of things that people can confuse with auras.

The most common is an afterimage type of haze that will appear around objects if you stare at them too long. this is caused by a  bleaching of the light sensitive chemical in your eyes called Rhodopsin.

The way to tell if your looking at an aura is if you see the following things: a "light" around someone within about 5 seconds;
distinct colours in front of or around a person;
colours around a person that appear alive and are moving or swirling.

Some guides to seing auras don't make these distinctions enough for you to know whether you really are looking at an aura, or if it is just physiological reactions in your eyes.

Kind regards,
James.

Would the afterimage appear around everything if I just stare at one thing, or would those be auras?

I'm no expert, but I would *guess* (Not really).  In effect, the light rebounds differently on different surfaces and the pattern of light that is allowed to pass on the edge of a surface is different depending on the surface, thus in a physical sense, I would go for no.

What matters in the beginning is to just have some kind of experience at all to practice with. The purely physiological will give way as you find yourself genuinely using clairvoyance to see auras. It is only at first that it is a question of to what extent it is really seeing auras and to what extent it is not.
