been watching Species 2? or any other poorly done B movies lately?

After each space mission the astronauts go through extensive decontamination procedures. Also, if an astronaut would catch something there is a good chance of them showing symptoms well before getting back to earth.

check out enterprisemission.com for info on mars and things they have found so far on mars.

What if Mars was our garden of eden, what if the ark was a starship, what if humanity is older than we realize.

If they(astronauts) did show symptoms, what do you think they would do to the pore people if they couldn't cure them? Kill them, worse,
what if all the astronauts showed symptoms, you think they would
commit suicide in space for the sake of humanity or would they still come back hoping for cure.
Never mind this raises more questions than answers.

Logic

how the hell would you expect a disease to come back from mars when everything is completly frozen?

First of all, the disease would have to make it through the space suit, which blocks out radiation (presumably) and I would think anything else as well. Because! if diseases could get in, air could get out, and they would die.

It would depend on the astronauts. If they showed sypmtoms on the planet then studying and waiting it out would be fine untill supplies started to run out, and even then we could send supplies there.

if they come down while in transit then the feasible thing would be ffor them to dock with the space station for medical tests and observation. If they got to earth they would be under heavy quarantine.

several things need to be done before a manned mission to mars. Having a decent space station tween here and the moon would be nice.

Okay, I went overboard a bit, with them getting a disease in space, but they could always bring something with or inside the samples of rocks.        Might happen in the future is what I meant to say, since
duh I know maned missions to Mars are impossible, yet.
I didn't mean they could catch it in space while they are retrieving it at that  moment, maybe
when they are studying it on Earth , or on the International Space Station.  What about that? Did you think about that Logic?

Actually NASA talked about this many years ago and they concluded due to the dramatic difference in DNA (kind of like a virus intended for a dog can't hurt us) the disease would not harm us.  This is due to millions of years of separation.  So, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea, I could see it happening from rocks. Its not to often you find bacteria on / in rocks from an environment without liquid water or an atmosphere.

I dont remember mentioning a disease coming from space at all. Also, you dont have to patronize me here on the forums just because I disagree with you in certain aspects of your beliefs.

Other reasons why it hasnt happened yet, is because no one has made it to the moon yet. There is more than enough substantial evidence to prove that it was all staged, its just that no one wants to admit it.

It doesn't seem necissary to be so worried about an event that (A) is something you will not likely see in your lifetime and (B) only a probability if man ever DOES walk on mars.  Don't take this the wrong way, but why in the world are you stressing about diseases from mars?

Still talking about this.  Jeez, I thought I ended this already.  Well here we go, END.

Sorry Logic, I had an argument with my dad about some stupid card game and it ticked me off, so it kind of infuenced me to patronize you, again I apologize. I'm not a bad person. I hope you understand.

AGAIN WITH THE FOOD REFERENCE!... I should weigh a ton after reading all these posts with food references. [xx(]

Mars.....I think it is fantastic that, we (being mere humans) have accomplished this feat.  I will admit I thought "hmmmmm, will they show us something cool, or keep it to themselves?".  Then I thought, who gives a flying crap?  We will never really know until we depart from this crazy plane...and then..sheesh..I don't think I am gonna care.

Have to admit tho...What if........?

Nay.

I hope you are done with the soap box Logic because other people need to use it now.

Thanks

What if WE bring a disease to Mars? What would that do to the martians? Do you people always think about yourselves?

Yea, got a little angry myself, sorry.

The latest project for sending a probe on Mars was acomplished! (some of you who heard about it, NASA succesfuly landed a space probe on Mars with no complications at all.(past probes faced failure,
some were close but failed due to minor complications, pictures were still taken)
>please be openminded about the following<
This worries me for many but one main reason, what if on a mission in the future an astronaut goes to mars, while exploring it, he either gets or pics up a sample of something unusual without knowing what it is.He brings it back here on Earth,
and this thing turns out to be a disease, and soon it turns into an epidemic spreading and destroying life as we know it.
Now I know this sounds like something from a science fiction movie but
didn't  man sending probes into space on different planets sound something like a twilight zone episode in the 60's.
