To begin with, I don't know Homeworld.

I guess, someone trying to alter the quantum ether around him to travel through a quantum wormhole would just mess up our part of the galaxy.[]
Charles Choi wrote an interesting article concerning this which you can find on New Scientist Online.
According to him this operation would be very delicate. Any matter travelling through a quantum wormhole will add positive energy to it and would collapse it into a black hole. As a solution you might be able to make use of ghost radiation, a negative energy field or ether. This could be used to offset the positive energy of the travelling matter. With the right amount it should prevent the wormhole collapsing. But add too much negative energy and the wormhole will briefly explode into a new universe that expands at the speed of light.

Another problem is the place you are going to travel to? Is there air? Is there the right gravity for survival?

Ok, these obstacles shouldn't prevent anyone to strive to do space journeys. Just try to do it in a more sophisticated and comfy way.

that's interesting that you bring that subject up.I've never played the game homeworld, but I think I know what you're talking about.I've been reading some stuff lately about quantum physics, and its relation and commonalities to eastern philosophy-a book called "the tao of physics" by fritjof capra,also one called "holographic universe" (I forget the author).It's true that everything is a manifestation of a universal energy all around us.A physicist would call it quantum field theory.I think buddista might call it pranaor chi(?).A toltec such (from Carlos Castaneda's writings) might call it the eagles emanations.Castaneda often writes about extremelybizzare events-such as the physical body completely transformed into pure energy and light, and trans-dimentional travel.It's highly conyroversial whether any of it is true (the author insists it is),but it doesn't diminish the impact of his work.I've also read about a yogi in india by the name of Sai Baba (in holographic universe) who is apparently able to do these things.I'm not saying everyone should instantly believe everything they read,because obviously there are many frauds everywhere, but in order to discover the truth about anything in general, it's important to maintain a balanced point of view of non-judgment,non-belief,and objective investigation, fully taking into consideration the vastly different thinking and perception of different cultures.It should also be remembered that these eastern and middle-american cultures are to spirituality, as the western society is to science,in terms of levels of advancement.I don't believe we understand a fraction of what humans are capable of.Taking all this into consideration, what you are talking about is a worthy subject of investigation, one that I am also intrigued by.I think a good place to start is the spirituality of world cultures.I'm thinking buddism,hinduism (I think that's where the word chakra came from),and zen.Also tribal cultures from around the world.The most important thing is to keep an openmind.non-judgement,non-belief,and perceptually objective investigation,which is the knowledge and attempted grasping of alternate ways of thinking.A state of fluidity.

I am a student maojoring in physics.  I have taken quantum I and quantum II and must say that unfortunatly it would not predict that you would transport your body.  Or more correctly that the probability that you could transport all the atoms in your body is miniscule.  So small in fact that if you tried a million times a second from the begining of the universe to the end of it it still would net be very likely of happening;.  But quantum mechanics isn't well understood so the possiblility remains;.

I'm not familiar with this game either. I did however many years ago have an experience which I have never been  able to fully understand. This trip to the astral was not initiated by me but from a high spirit or spirits that visited me while sitting in my chair.I was attempting my first meditation.I went through a sudden and quick life review. This shocked me. I stood up feeling weird, almost in a dazed state. I was then escorted to my back window by unseen enities. I was then put thru a regression.A regression which placed me in some non existent state yet I remained physically standing there. A powerful voice (sounded like God) told me this is a small part of his power. I got a look at the universe, and a very powerful wave of energy leading somewhere in a circular or arch like fashion.I then become encased in a gold firery capsul.While seeing the energy wave and while being in this encapsulated space my mind could connect with anything.It was a sense of being able to know anything I wanted. It frightened me and I began wondering what all this was about. I also was concerned with my physical ability to return to my regular life again.I chose not to think anything for the fear it would send me too far to return. I declined, I was afraid not to do this as well, in case this was truly God. The experience ended immediately.I did all this in the physical.
After the experience I had a very real and scary physical effect of this celestial trip. For about a year I required many more calories a day to maintain a steadfast weight of a hundred pounds. Once I had stabilized my metabolism the only weight I could weigh was 100 pounds, even. I required a minimum of 3000 calories a day to keep from dropping below this weight.If at anytime I dropped below a hundred my weight would plummet at an extremely rapid rate. So fast in fact, it was a matter of life or death. I made sure I ate  large amounts at frequent intervals through the day.No matter how much I ate, I never exceeded this majic number of a hundred pounds. I also carried back the ability to see two worlds or two dimensions, something I had never experienced before. The added visual side effect I attributed much to my early unknown need to maintain proper energy intake. This took a little while to discover and required vigorous effort in order order to stabilize it for survival. This increase energy need was three times what I usually needed to maintain normal weight which is actually above a hundred pounds. After a year the increased energy need ended as did the visual acuity(now seen as awareness) that went along with this bizarre happening. I've never in my life ever had a weight problem or an eating disorder. I have religious beliefs, but this experience did not totaly convince me this was that kind of spiritual experience. Upon return from this place I did shortly thereafter have a religious experience. It also involved this walked through regression process by spirits. I know this all sounds far out but I experienced it and lived it for a year. I'm better for having had the experience I believe.I had to also work seriously at reorienting myself on the fact I had a material body that required my active attention to to keep in existence.I utilized a common yoga technique to help with the physical awareness issue.  
I have been working on increasing my intuitive skills the last year through dreams. The two dimensions I experienced way back then is similar to the intuitive skills I've been achieving the last couple of years.I believe there is definitely a way to physically travel the astral. But like I mentioned, my experience involved unknown outside spirit assistance.
An added note. The powerful enity who spoke to me may have been God since it sounded like the universe as we know it has another dimension beyond. I am also always on the the alert to not believe everything I hear so I was cautious.
I did not leave my house from this place I went, my feet also did not leave the ground except during these two regressions that were done to me.I shrank to nothingness during this process, like a physical regression from the present until the time before I was born.Does this sound like quantum physics?

one aspect that directly relates to quantum physics is the idea of a multi-dimentional universe.I don't know much more than that,but I do remember that many physicists say that the only way any of their current observations would make any sense is if we were part of a multi-verse,instead of a universe.I also know that our knowledge about ourselves and the multiverse is only in its infancy,so we shouldn't judge ourselves, and say "wow,thats crazy".To use an analogy-our complex technology and physical knowledge is absolutely incomprehensable to any animal species, yet their world view is just as real and valid as ours.the difference is that thierperceptual interpretationcomes from a different area.our world view is based on the workings of our own mind and brain.I believe the only reason we are unable to access our true conciousness is because our self-importance gets in the way, and we place limitations on what we can achieve.This has direct relations to modern physics in that we now realize that the old idea of a separate observer/observed phenomena is a false construct of our own ego-our need to interpret and classify everything.in other words-our potential to realize our true conciousness is unlimited,because we are beginning to understand that the universal beauty,order and power that seems to exist in the universe is actually within ourselves.

If anybody has ever played Homeworld then you should know that they have a little mentioning of quantum physics in it. Quantum physics is basically the only scientific way of trying to explain energy, the only difference is they don't believe in chakras and everything is too scientific and not enough spiritual.

The way you "hyperspace" in the game is when a Quantum Generator in anything capital ship class or higher charges up and creates a wave form. This wave covers the ship and creates a doorway to a kind of tunnel that undermines the space-time continuum and opens up on another side.

This made me think. If you can move energy all around your body, turning your body into a kind of energy wave, would it be possible to do such wonders? It would be kind of like astral projection, except that your physical is carried through a sub-dimension of the physical plane.

Any thoughts?
