It reminds me of another trick where you have to choose a tool and a color quickly.  Statisticaly, it would be a red hammer..

I ate alot of carrots today haha maybe that's why i chose it also. I never even eat carrots also that's the best part.

I do not know where it "originally" came from, but I got it from an open forum on another web site.  I think the person that posted it there mentioned that somebody e-mailed it to them or something.  I suspect it is just one of those things that is interesting enough that people keep passing it around?  :)

Humans....Predictable animals at best.

I think the test is based on how we access memory, using different neurological pathways to recieve stored thoughts and images.

But why a carrot! How does 6 connect with carrot.. Maybe cause we say the X part in six, if you think about it that's the longest sound you use in six. Maybe that's why a c sound vegitable comes to mind.

I thought carrot too. Pretty simple why the majority think of a carrot - when you are told to QUICKLY think of something you think of the most well known thing - the most well known vegetable in existance is the carrot.

i was thinking of a tomatoe, then i relized that a tomatoe probably isnt a vegetable then i thought of a carrot.

I thought about a green hot pepper. Didnt think about carrot once. I knew before I took this test that my mind was different. If I find something in my mind thats arbitrary, like 6-->carrot, I usually delete it. Only things that have a purpose can stay in my mind.

I couldn't even think of one until about a minute.  Then I chose potato, carrot didn't even cross my mind, I knew I was strange.

You have to do it fast. Everybody will get random results if they think for a minute.

Yes but then there is the arguement that what does all fruit have in common? all fruit or at least the high majority have seeds in the centre og them which is why even a tomato is a fruit - peppers have seeds in them, therefore if peppers arnt fruit then its the only food thats not a fruit with seeds in them.

I think a potatoe flashed into my mind but then I came out with a carrot. I think this may have been because I learned my 6x table from a song about growing carrots in a garden.  I was also thinking about feeding my rabbit before I did the test.

carrot possibly because it is the first one coming up to the mind.. with its orange color it springs easily within the neurones...

The other explanation was from Nay, a Freudian explanation, when you repeat six, six, six, six, ... very fast, you get almost sex, sex, sex,... and so one has a tendancy to chose either "carrot", or "cucumber", or even (weird) "celery", or (by mistake) "banana",..

as to the red hammer, red is the strongest color of all.... the hammer comes very "handy" as a tool, it is the one everyone would think about when you think of "tools", especially if you chose red before, then of course you need to have a "strong" tool that goes with the "strong" color, and there you go... as to the number it did not work as well. ....

how about what color would you give to the numbers ...? from 0 to 9 say?

Why would I choose Celery like I did? I was sitting there with the image of a freshly cut one in my mind and I was like what friggin veggie is this again? And like 5 seconds later it came to me...reason why is I relate to both yellow and green at the same time a lot, and I hate it so much and scream when they're always in my soup...so I've payed more attention to celery recently than carrots. But by astral I hate bell peppers more than anything! Moo is for milk, and yes cows drink milk when they're young!

Just coz it grows in the ground, that doesnt mean its a vegetable... does it? Isnt the requirement whether or not it has seeds? I never really understood how those classifications come by, because some fruits/vegetables are weird.
