Will I be affected by a cataclysmic event any time soon?
Will I be advancing much spiritually over the next year?
Will I be astral projecting more and more?
Will I find true love? ;) hehe, had to ask
How will my finances be?
Is there anything else I should know?
alright. ask away and when you answer, I'm going to see what the 'ol pendulum says :) Could be fun.

SomeBloke,
Thanks for offering a chance to test out your new deck... and build up some new skills... Tarot cards can be lots of fun. Be sure to mention to people that this is for entertainment purposes only, particularly if you ever get paid to read people's cards... this way you don't get yourself in trouble (and so people understand that they have free will and the future can change) I have the Ryder Waite and the Tarot of a Moon Garden (love this deck!)
Here's my question:
How will the events in my life unfold over the next 3 years in order to create the life I desire... with regards to my career, my marriage, my kids and my happiness?
Kerri
quote:
I'm not normally one for unsolicited advice, but a recent online Tarot course I worked through suggests that when forming questions for divination, it's better not to do the either/or types.
So perhaps instead of asking WILL something happen, they suggest asking how one could best deal with it.
So, how can I better attract a mate, or how can I improve my chances of astral projection, etc. is what lots of people recommend. Otherwise, the results can get pretty strange.
[:I] Thanks for the advice. Although, I'm not oppossed to getting strange results [:D]
Taking this into consideration, here are my questions:
How would I best deal with a catacylsmic event if it were to affect my life?
What would be the best course for me to take to advance spiritually?
How can I increase the frequency of my astral projections?
How can I better attract a mate that is desirable to me?
How can I improve my financial situation?
If the tarot deck is willing, I ask it to reveal any information that might be particularly useful for me to know to help aid me in my life.
If the last request is not a thing the tarot deck does easily, do not feel obliged to get a reading on it.
Many thanks
OK, here are the first couple of readings - it takes a while because I have to look all the cards up, and think a lot!
I used the famous Celtic Cross method, and the (original) Rider-Waite cards.
For choosing the 'significator' card, there's all sorts of rules about picking according to hair colour of the querent etc.
but I just turn the cards up until a suitable one comes up.
Good point about the phrasing of questions - I had to change yours slightly halfphased, and condensed some due to time constraints.
Hope to do MJ-12 and Lighthouse's readings tomorrow.
Halfphased:
"Will Halfphased be affected by a catastrophic event anytime soon?"
Just a quick reading for this one:
The significator is the heirophant, representing someone pursuing knowledge, but with a pre-established belief system.
Covers - the ace of swords, symbolic of triumph of force.
Obstacles - 6 wands, the triumph of the victorious, or triumph of man.
Crowns - the chariot representing providence, but also war and triumph again.
Beneath - the hanged man, wisdom, trials, intuition, sacrifice
Behind - Knight of pentacles reversed, inertia and stagnation
Before - Knight of cups, an arrival or messenger.
Self - 6 cups, Nostalgia good will
Environment - King of swords, Judgement
Hopes - The World reversed, inertia. fixity
Outcome - 9 swords reversed, worry or 'reasonable fear'
The issue of force and triumph predominates early on. The question of course implies force, and the cards suggests that
in this respect great opposing forces are at play.
Behind/Before symbolise moving from a period of stagnation and inertia, perhaps to a new era heralded by the messenger
represented by the knight of cups.
The last four cards are more about you - you bear no malice to anyone, but you are interested in the notion of a catastrophic
event as a form of judgement. Your hopes are ambiguous, represented by the world reversed. In some sense this means
wanting the world to be ok, and in another perhaps a secret thought that it would be nice to see it turned upside down.
This seems to be a common attitude. The outcome card, 9 swords, suggests that your fear of a catastrophic event is not unreasonable,
but there's no point in worrying!
Here is the spread, but reversed cards are not shown reversed.
http://www.bonkers-uk.com/tarot/tarot.php?c0=maj05&c1=sa&c2=w6&c3=maj07&c4=maj12&c5=pkn&c6=ckn&c7=c6&c8=skg&c9=maj21&c10=s9
I condensed your other questions to:
"What influences will there be on Halfphased over the next year, spiritually, financially and in lurve..."
The significator is the 7 pentacles - it shows a young man leaning on a rake looking at pentacles hanging from a bush.
Often a connection to money is made, but I chose this as it represents you considering what is important to you.
Looking at the card, one of these things may be right at your feet being overlooked!
The general forces at work are represented by the 2 cups. This shows a couple, not yet lovers, but the card is symbolic of
love, passion and friendship.
The 'obstacles' are represented by the queen of cups, here this very favourable.
The significator, 2 and queen of cups are placed on top of one another signifying their close inter-relatedness.
In fact I think here, the man in the 2 cups corresponds to you, and the woman to the queen.
The queen represents a devoted woman, someone kind and loving, spiritual and open to exploration of psychic phenomena.
She will like you, so love could certainly be on the cards...
The card of justice appears, reversed, as representing what you want to make your own but is currently out of reach.
This has connotations of The law, but also of excessive severity, perhaps being too harsh on yourself?.
Also of cause and effect, and karma, so you perhaps are about to reap the fruits of your past actions.
What you have to work with at present is represented by the 10 cups, which is reversed.
This card represents joy, and a sense of well being, but since it is reversed this joy is muted.
Another meaning is your home town, or where you live, suggesting you don't have to travel far to achieve your aims.
Past influences are represented by the ace of wands, again reversed.
This card is symbolic of using creative force. Reversed it is sometimes said to represent fall decadence and ruin,
but here perhaps it represents not using your creativity to best effect in the past, or in some ways vices that you
have given up.
Future influences are represented by 5 wands. This can mean a struggle, perhaps for material wealth, or even a fight.
In one interpretation the reversed 10 cups also has connotations of violence, so this can't be ruled out, but I would
be inclined to think that this shows you need to be prepared to work towards what you want, perhaps even 'compete' a little.
The 7th,8th,9th and 10th cards are all trumps major, which suggests you are likely to a certain extent to be swept along
from your present position, through the obstacles presented by your environment as you pursue your ambitions to leave you
at the outcome.
Your current attitude is represented by the emperor. Stability, taking control. In some ways this also represents
fatherliness, maybe even starting a family!
Your environment is represented by the star, reversed. Hoping for improvement, trying to think positively, looking for light
at the end of the tunnel.
Another interpretation says arrogance, haughtiness and 'impotence'. (The queen of cups would be most disappointed.)[:D]
Your hopes and aspirations are represented by the fool, which is here symbolic of new beginnings.
I think this is your hope to find 'true love', you mad fool.
And the outcome is symbolised by the hermit, reversed. This doesn't mean you end up on your own!
This symbolises spiritual progress, but perhaps not as quickly as you'd like.
It may be that other influences limit your progress in this respect. Perhaps a new relationship will distract you.

I will preface this post by saying that you should go directly to MJ-12's and Lighthouse's readings before responding to this. It is on my mind now, so I do not wish to wait to post it.
Good show! I must say most of what you write is already self evident in my life or makes sense / I feel it is true.
Your answer to my first question about a catastrophic event rings very true. You have stripped me of my covering for all who care to see. Right on! I shall take your reading to heart. It is pretty much what I have felt to be true.
quote:

Funny, the question on love is one I threw in just for the heck of it and the result is somewhat surprising. I will go directly to the hermit. Indeed, I do live very much like a hermit. I am not oppossed to going through life without a mate and currently it feels like the best thing for me to do. Monastic life whether it be in an ashram or monastary holds a certain appeal for me [:)]
At the same time, I am not oppossed to meeting a mate. A part of me longs to find my true love, but in opposition to this, the desire to advance spiritually using the age old method of hermititude (new word?) also pulls at me. If anything, I am currently more inclined to pass up love in order to progress. But perhaps it is best for me to find a way to incorporate both into my life.
It is a fear of mine that a relationship would distract me. woe is me hehe
As to this queen, is there anyway to tell if it is someone that I know currently or if it is someone that I have yet to be introduced to?

Also of cause and effect, and karma, so you perhaps are about to reap the fruits of your past actions.
Could this mean that what I want to make my own is only out of my reach because I am being to harsh on myself? Is the comment about cause and effect and karma to mean that my efforts to make it my own are about to bear fruit? or is it to be taken independently of the statements before it?

I do believe that my aims can be accomplished in my current city. I also experience a sense of well being and joy, although my joy is muted somewhat due to circumstances that are not exactly how I desire them to be. My job / financial situation being the most prominent factor in this and following that is my rate of spiritual development.

hrm, this certainly makes me think. In my consideration of what is important to me, money most definately looses out. I know I could easily make money if I were to finish my training in computer science, however I have given this up to pursue philosophy and religion studies. The life that a career in computer programing would offer me just does not appeal to me any longer.

I certianly have not used my creativity to best effect in the past. I have also had some issues with old vices creep up, but I have conquered them for the time being. I can see that if I were to give into my vices, I would certainly fall into decadence and ruin.
quote:

If I want to pursue the path in the way I am currently, I can certainly see that seeking material wealth would be a struggle. I am not a violent person, so a fight would not seem right. The thing I want most is to progress spiritually. (perhaps, my biggest stumbling block?) So, I am having difficulty seeing how competition would aid in that pursuit. However, if it is talking of my want of money, then needing to compete a little would seem to apply.

Whoa, I feel like I am being swept along while reading this and not being able to grasp onto its meaning. [:D] I do tend to just get up and go places without looking over my shoulder... Is this statement to mean that any obstacles I encounter will be unable to stand up to my ambitions and that I will be successful in my ambitions and end up at the desired outcome?
quote:
Your current attitude is represented by the emperor. Stability, taking control. In some ways this also represents
fatherliness, maybe even starting a family!
How true! At least the first part [;)] I am very much at a place where I am stabilizing and taking control of myself. It has been a long time since I felt this stable and in control.
I do not see myself starting a family any time soon and I am actually oppossed to this currently. But who knows, maybe that queen will work her magic on me [:D]
quote:
Your environment is represented by the star, reversed. Hoping for improvement, trying to think positively, looking for light
at the end of the tunnel.
Another interpretation says arrogance, haughtiness and 'impotence'. (The queen of cups would be most disappointed.)
Very true indeed! The entire statement here. I do very much try to think positively and I have much faith that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My life experiences have proven as much. I am always seeking to improve. However, I do know myself to have feelings of arrogance, haughtiness, and impotence in the sense that I sometimes feel helpless or powerless [V] All of these are attitudes that I see diminishing on a daily basis. I know these are problem areas and I am always on guard for them. Perhaps, I am being too hard on myself. However, I do not want them to overwhelm me.
quote:
Your hopes and aspirations are represented by the fool, which is here symbolic of new beginnings.
I think this is your hope to find 'true love', you mad fool.
ahahahahahaha! I have seen the fool before! I oft take him the wrong way. I have been the fool and I fear being a fool and I know that just makes me a fool. In this case, I will be optimistic about it. I do like the way you interperet it.
This is my second reading ever and out of the two, I find that this is the better of them. I must add tarot to my list of things to learn [:)] Thank you very much for your reading and I would post follow up questions if you feel like enertaining them. If not, no worries [8D]
I said I would break out my trusty pendulum to see what it has to say. I will try to do this tomorrow as my pillow is beckoning me.
Thanks again!
MJ-12 asked: "Any insights/comments regarding the challenges facing the new Canadian parliament?"
I know nothing about current affairs in Canada, so I took the trouble of looking up a picture of the prime minister
Paul Martin to get a feel for this question, but that's all. I was really expecting to have a hard time interpreting
the results, but I got a really clear reading I think...
The significator I chose was the King of cups, which represents a 'wise/fair man of business' or in this case politics.
The card representing the general context of the reading is the queen of swords, reversed. This represents a woman
familiar with sorrow, one who faces the truth even if unpleasant. It can also represent malice, prudery and deceit.
The obstacles are represented by the high priestess, a card of secrets, and mystery of the future. Also it can
represent 'a woman of interest to the querent', or here a woman of interest to a member of the cabinet.
Perhaps someone biding their time.
I'm already getting a sense of a possible scandal here, and I have a hunch this reading refers to a specific member of the
cabinet, or perhaps a general theme that will affect this government.
The foundations of the people concerned are represented by the 9 wands. This is a card of strength in opposition -
they will fight to defend themselves if attacked. Also there is a suggestion that they may be expecting to be attacked.
The card representing the ideal (solution) is the 3 of swords. This is a card of vigilence, but also of exile, taking a
break, removal. It also has connotations of death.
Past influences are shown by the empress, reversed. This relates to 'unravelling of involved matters', public rejoicing,
also giving birth. These may be symbolic of the election and formation of the new government, but I wonder if the birth
was a literal one, perhaps someone's love-child?
Future influences are shown by the 3 swords reversed. This again symbolises removal, also alienation, error, loss,
disorder confusion and betrayal. The picture on the card shows this to be related to affairs of the heart.
The attitude of the government and perhaps towards the government is shown by the card 'the last judgement'.
This could again refer to the recent election, where they were judged victorious, but more likely I think that someone
in the cabinet is to be judged on their personal life.
The environment is symbolised by the 8 of pentacles reversed, which means attention to detail in work matters is essential,
it can also mean voided ambitions. It suggests the cabinet is under close scrutiny.
Hopes are represented by the 2 of swords. This has connotations of courage and friendship, but I think more relevant
is 'concord in a state of arms', or a hope for unity within the party in a crisis, and also since the woman in the card is
blindfold, it shows a hope to hide the truth about something.
The outcome is represented by the 6 of swords. This primarily shows a journey, leaving with an air of sadness.
Other interpretations are: being uprooted, a declaration, confession, publicity or a proposal of love.
I would interpret this reading as a whole to mean someone in the cabinet will be judged on their private life and may be
forced to resign. Perhaps the government's term of office as a whole will be beset by a series of scandals in the media
to do with the private lives of the politicians.

I'm confused, is it Halfphased or SomeBloke, that started the thread, that is doing the readings?
Just need to know. [^]
Nay
Hi Lighthouse, yes these readings are definitely for fun because I'm new at this, but I'm learning!
Lighthouse asked:
"How will the events in my life unfold over the next 3 years in order to create the life I desire... with regards to my
career, my marriage, my kids and my happiness?"
I picked the queen of pentacles for your significator. It represents safety, success and capability among other things.
The card showing the general factors surrounding your reading is the knight of cups. This symbolises an arrival,
perhaps of a messenger. Maybe a proposal, but you say you're already married. It also symbolises someone who idealises
love.
The obstacles are represented by the hanged man, reversed. This indicates trials and sacrifice, but not major ones as
the card is reversed. It also has slight connotations of selfishness and one interpretor says:
"This card reminds us that when we want to force our will on someone we should release."
Past influences are shown by the 9 of cups, reversed. This is a card of satisfaction and of 'having a wish fulfilled'.
Also truth, loyalty, liberty. One interpretation is imperfections.
The card of the sun, reversed, represents future influences. This represents material happiness, contentment, good marriage
also being the center of attention perhaps due to some special event.
That which supports you is represented by the page of cups. It indicates a fair young man connected to you,
(perhaps your son?), someone perhaps who is studious. Some say it represents meditation.
Things that you wish to make your own are represented by the 10 of swords. This is rather curious, because this card
is said to signify pain, affliction, or sadness.
Your present attitude is represented by the 4 of cups. This can signify intospection and, again, meditation.
But also there is a sense of 'weariness of worldly things', perhaps feeling stuck in a rut.
Your environment is represented by the 7 of cups, a card of imagination. Other interpretations say 'fairy favours'(!)
In some ways this may indicate you are trying to picture the future you want for yourself, but I guess there is a
hint of warning that you don't set about building 'castles in the air'.
Your 'hopes' are represented by the 8 of swords. Again this is curious as it represents bad news, crisis or maybe sickness.
There is also a suggestion that you are the damsel in distress, waiting for a knight in shining armour to come to the rescue!
I really don't know if this indicates any sort of discontentment with your partner, if so perhaps the knight of cups and
the sun show the likelihood of a re-strengthening of the relationship.
In any case, the outcome looks good, represented by the empress, reversed. This represents fruitfulness - light, truth
and abundance of all kinds. Also mothering and public rejoicing... The knight and page of cups form a pair that represents
a child. Also a child is depicted on the sun card, representing future influences. The knight of cups also signifies
an arrival, and one other interpretation of 7 cups is given as 'a fair child'. I wonder is perhaps the pain represented
by the 10 of swords is the pain of childbirth? If you're trying for another child perhaps one is on the way!
Alternatively, maybe these cards just show that you are very focused on your family.

Nay, the thread is SomeBloke's baby [:D]
My long post was just a response to his reading. I thought it would be interesting to give some feedback.
Thanks Somebloke...
Good Job!!!
It makes lots of sense to me... it makes not much sense to you becasue you are not privy to my personal situation but it makes perfect sense to me... Thank you.
Kerri
Halfphased -
Interesting, maybe I was trying too hard to set you up with the queen of cups!
She appeared in the position of 'obstacles' and you say you fear a relationship would distract you from spiritual progress.
Without her, you still get the hermit, representing spiritual progress which is what you say is most important to you.
But the point is, someone special could be there as part of your life, but perhaps you choose to avoid this as you see it
as an obstacle. This would mean the fool represents a new beginning of a different sort, maybe some element of your spiritual path.
No idea who the queen might be...
Could this mean that what I want to make my own is only out of my reach because I am being to harsh on myself?
Is the comment about cause and effect and karma to mean that my
efforts to make it my own are about to bear fruit? or is it to be taken independently of the statements before it?
I would say, in light of what you've said, it perhaps means that the spiritual advancement you desire will manifest without
you needing to impose an excessively harsh spiritual regime on yourself. (But what is excessive?)
Whoa, I feel like I am being swept along while reading this and not being able to grasp onto its meaning. I do tend
to just get up and go places without looking over my shoulder... Is this statement to mean that any obstacles I encounter
will be unable to stand up to my ambitions and that I will be successful in my ambitions and end up at the desired
outcome?
I meant more that events, and your own personal traits, the factors in your environment, your hopes and desires and the
actions that you take because of them, together these form the path from cards 7 to 10, your present position to the outcome,
and they are all major arcana cards suggesting strong tendencies to direct you along this route. Because it ends up pretty much where you want to go, with spiritual advancement, that's a good thing.
Lighthouse, glad that made sense to you, I must've picked the lucky pack!
Sweet. Thank you for the elucidation.[:)]
Interesting.... well Im always up for good advice.
Soooo, In a general sense. What does your deck say about me? Ive got some unresolved issues im working out right now. Maybe your info can help.
xx
OK Sentential, I'll do your's tonight and that'll have to be the last
one for the time being...
Sentential wanted a general reading that perhaps could shed light on some 'unresolved issues'.
For your significator I picked the page of swords, representing vigilence, but also analyzing a problem.
The general factors affecting your reading are represented by the 10 cups - a good card. It signifies contentment and joy.
It also represents your home town, and a possible end to hostilities. When it appears with several trumps major
as it does here, it can represent a person who is taking care of your interests.
The obstacles are represented by the magician, perhaps signifying that a lack of skill or diplomacy will be an obstacle to
you. It also reminds you that sometimes it is necessary to take action to overcome your obstacles.
As an Astral Pulse member I suppose I should also mention that it can indicate a person interested in occult matters.
The nine of swords reversed, shows the things you have to work with at the moment. It's a card of doubt, reasonable fear,
worry. I think this is really just confirmation that you are worrying about these 'unresolved issues'.
It also has connotations of imprisonment that connect it to the 10 wands which also appears -
Past influences are represented by 10 wands. This indicates oppression, or feeling heavily burdened. Perhaps you have been
through a rough patch, or maybe over-extended yourself financially or otherwise. One interpretation says:
"If followed by 9 of swords, it represents success stultified, or if it is a matter of a lawsuit it indicates certain loss".
I guess this would tie-in with the 10 cups as meaning someone taking care of your interests, as a lawyer perhaps.
The card of strength appears, reversed, in the 'crowns' position. This indicates that you may find yourself in a situation
where you have power over someone, and the fact it is reversed reminds you not to abuse that power.
It can also mean that you will require patience. Other readings say that strength reversed indicates you will find yourself
in a position of weakness, however I prefer the other interpretations.
The 7 of swords appears in the position of future influences. This represents 'running away', perhaps avoiding your
responsibilities. Also it may indicate a plan you have made that may fail.
Your current attitude is represented by 8 of pentacles, reversed. This is a card of skill, employment, diligence, also
attention to detail. Reversed it can also represent a voided ambition.
Your environment is represented by 4 of cups reversed. This can represent weariness of a situation, or self-absorption.
Since it is reversed, some interpretors say it represents a change to this, i.e. something novel or new company.
Your hopes are represented by the moon. This could indicate that you wish to perform some kind of minor deception,
perhaps tell a few 'white lies'. But also, this card can represent the path to mysterious realms, and this may be your
desire to explore them. It is the path between the towers shown in the card. Perhaps it represents your hope for a way out.
The outcome is appropriately enough represented by the card of Judgement. This could be your own judgement in the matter,
or more likely it is someone else passing judgement.
I think from the outset, with the 10 cups, the cards say there is a possibility of an 'end to hostilities', or an amicable
resolution to your issues. You may have felt burdened in the past, and have current worries, but there is a warning that
if you start to come out on top don't abuse that position. If you take the reversed strength card as a sign of finding
yourself in a weak position, you may find the temptation to run away or avoid your responsibilities. But the final card
is judgement, and I suppose if you're going to be judged it would be best to behave in a way that does not leave you open
to someone finding fault with you. There are connotations here of loss of a court case, but I suppose it could refer to
an impending judgement of a less formal kind. I think the 10 of cups says you can avoid the hard road through this
situation through skill, diplomacy, self-confidence and taking appropriate action.

Somebloke
I have a question, what type of class did you take? I took an on-line course and was way too busy to concentrate on it at that time. Can I maybe read to you so that I can have some practice? I have the Rider Waite cards. I have them protected but I haven't picked them up in quite awhile.
I'm still kinda rusty.
I sometimes do the one card on http://www.facade.com and they seem to give you a reading of sorts but you still have to interrupt it.
I'd appreciate any type of advice. Thanks
Hi IntuitiveOne,
These are basically the first readings I've done, (I wanted some practice), so I had to look everything up. I found that if I wrote down keywords for all the cards in a reading and looked for patterns that way I could maybe compensate for my lack of knowledge [:)]
I used this online tarot course:
http://www.learntarot.com/top.htm
and the little book that comes with the Rider Waite deck.
Also I read somewhere that you should really try and use your intuition sparked off by the images on the cards and relations between them, so I tried to do that. No idea how successful I was though...
The site you mentioned is pretty good for online readings, (much better than the one I had tried), but it's much nicer having a real person do a reading, so if you want to do one for me that would be great!
I would like to know about how successful my pursuit of spiritual disciplines will be over the next year. In particular, I'm thinking of taking up a form of meditation that requires a lot of commitment, and I want to know if I am making the right decision with regard to the teacher etc.
Anyone have a question for the mystic tarot?
Mine are fresh out of the pack, and so am I :)
