Chiron,

I also do Tarot, and although I have a collection of decks, I'm always more confortable with Waite's classic. Yesterday a group came to visit for the first time, and somehow the conversation turned to the Bible, and I mentioned that The Book, the way most local preachers use it, is magical. So I pulled out my deck, shufled, and spread them all down on the persian carpet in front of my altar. I asked one of the visitors to pull one out, and low-and-behold!, there it was: The Devil.

Then I pulled out my Bible, and read a few random versus, each time giving my interpretation, to their hearts content. To pull random verses from the Bible or cards from the Tarot and 'reading' them is a magical act.

Mirador,

Thank you for your response.  I suppose that if one is seeking guidance, then tarot cards or the Bible can be used depending on one's spiritual/religious/or otherwise inclinations.

A cool thought [8D]

I have recently switched divination techniques when it comes to the tarot. I used to make use of a method suggested by Donald Kraig which had two triangles pointing to a central card.

but recently I have switched  to  a variation of the celtic cross, described in a book called "the secrets of high magick" by something or other, Melville. the celtic cross has brought me much more accurate readings, I still only tend to use the major arcana but I am going to begin integrating the minor as well for more in depth readings.

i've been with Tatot a good number of years, while working with three different Orders.  There is a fine point often not given the public regarding Tarot.
What you focus attention on, helps create that object of attention.  This is a widely read "principle" but not the whole story.  When you focus attention on a key (or anything) you do create it...but you create it in your own body mind complex.  It will take root, so to speak, and grow.
The symbology of the Tarot was systematically designed by the inner school to create things in your system that later exercises (IF you are part of a school) will bring to fruition.  Look at any deck and ask yourself "What have I created in my system with this key?"
I suggest that if you don't know...leave it alone.
Real Divination is a vastly different thing from "reading" keys based on some memorized things out of a book.
Waite's deck is not a very good one to use.  It alters some important symbols.
Briefly, if you study with a real school, the correct keys will be built into your system very methodically.  In time the energy behind the key will make its presence known quite distinctly.  THEN, if you attempt real Divining, the energy behind the keys will select the keys and that energy, when you focus attention on the key, will flow through your system and the resulting intuitive grasp will be the PRINCIPLE (s) behind your answer, and from applying those principles to your life you gain a very deep understanding that affects all your bodies and minds.

I use a Toltec deck bestowed through synchronicity.  Have any of you ever done a reading for yourself while dreaming or astral?  Very intriguing results.

Hey,

Just thought I would send out this message in order to find some fellow astral pulse tarot readers.  There must be some of you out there!!!!

If so, which deck do you own?!!  And maybe we should start a tarot discussion around here?
