Many of the Bible's oldest tales draw origins from ancient Sumeria, and were passed down through the generations through many different ways, including written documents and at times by simply word of mouth. That was a good long while for those stories to be passed down, leaving plenty of room for many edits and changes by many, many different people. So up until the time of Jesus the Bible had already been tampered with and edited many times since the original forms of the stories (though the original forms of many of the tales were polytheistic in their Sumerian versions).

Then Jesus pops up. Jesus never claims to be the messiah from what I understand, and when he taught his pupils, he used symbolism. The church, however, took the things Jesus said literally. When Jesus's brother tried to explain to the other cult members (as the Christian Church was a cult back then) that Jesus was simply being symbolic in many things that he said, such as the statement that he was the son of God (when really he meant everyone is the son or daughter of God), they took Jesus's brother out of the picture to make it easier for themselves. Around 350 AD, the church had a meeting to basically decide (by vote) what Jesus did and did not teach or mean.

Opinions start here - - - - [;)]

To Jews, the messiah is supposed to be someone who comes to bring peace to the Earth. After the coming of the Messiah, warring stops, etc., etc.... well, maybe at the time Jesus seemed like the messiah, but now, after all these wars, the Holocaust, WW1 and WW2, and even after the cult was gaining power, the empire in which the church resided was on its downfall and would soon fall apart! It doesn't seem to me like Jesus was the messiah after all.

In Sumer, there was a certain date referred to as the 'Day of the Lord' when someone or something would come and bring peace. This, as is pretty clearly apparent, was transferred into Judaism as the Messiah, and then into Christianity, which states that Jesus was the Messiah. Well, if you've read a lot of my posts.. you know where I'm going. The Sumerians were referring to the return of Nibiru (Nibiru is Sumerian for literally "Planet (or Celestial Body, etc.) of the Crossing"), and Nibiru would bring world peace. Nibiru is what you can call 'Planet X', and it has an orbit that allows it to near Earth via the Asteroid Belt every 3600 years, on what was called by the Sumerians as the Day of the Lord. So IMO, Jesus was mistaken for Nibiru, which should really bring peace upon its return, on the Day of the Lord.

Hello

In my thoughts/observations, In a room full of people now one thing can happen or be said and everyone has a diffrent story. I belive in what Jesus was quoted as saying but in study the bible it contradicts it's self too much. God changes his mind to much to think God is even a he how could a human like me understand what God is. Why would an all powerful being change it's mind? Why would it have a mind at all?
The bible was writen 3 generations (new testament) after Jesus's death. If we cant get a story straight today being in that room based on our perseption how could we get a story straight 3 generations later.
The bible also negates the fact that Chines writen history is far before the bible allows for the world to be created. And what about science? Why is it some of the bible is "litteral" and some interpeted or not litteral.
Did you know Psalm had 16 wives? Why would God punish one man and not another for this?
So much is up for interpitaion so much is incorrect historicaly the Romans crusified people on a stick or poll if you preffer no cross.
I dont want to change your oppinion these are just the questions I had and besides what is wrong with "Love" that is the main message of Jesus in my interpitaion that is.

Thanks
Liz[:I]

Speaking of Jesus on the cross.  Did you know that the crosses made in China are described as "Man on a Stick"? LOL.  You know why?  It's because they're all Budhists.

Oh yeah, speaking of contradictions.  Hasn't anyone thought yet that having jesus on the cross is a sin.  Isn't that an engravin image.  If you follow the Bible it says plainly that you can have no engravin images.  So all those people with baby jesus in front of their house, during christmas, take that excrement down or you will be cast into hell.  Just kidding.  I can see the angry grimeses already.

To take the bible literally is the act of a fool. To say the bible "is the devil" is also the act of a fool. We must not look in the bible for exact religious teachings (as so many do) but for moral principles, and guidelines for a healthy lifestyle.

Of course it is. That's why I put more emphasis on it than I do anything else I post.

Settle down, I'm just being difficult because I'm persuaded to buy into it myself. You put up a good argument. A lot of the proofs of nibiru could be interpreted as metaphors though, instead of literal physical happenings, so it's really a tough call. I think I'll just wait around for it to come and prove that it exists :/
C'mon, I've said before, something like that would be damn cool if it did exist.

1. Jesus Christ is God.
2. The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are in COMPLETE control of all creation.
3. The book entitled the Holy Bible is the Word of God and is infallible and True to the most extreme sense of the word.

Period.

Once again, Allanon, you obviously haven't looked much into the Bible or any other older Christian document for that matter, because not only does Jesus not match the Jewish description of the messiah (Jews predated Christians and the only big difference between them, besides great bickering and schisms among Christians, is the fact that Jews have been around for a long time and don't believe Jesus was the messiah, who was, btw, supposed to bring an end to all wars, among other things), but Jesus being God is ridiculous and isn't backed up by anything other than your preaching and the preaching of others like you.

Read the Gospel and you will see the Truth clover. The Truth is the Truth is the Truth is the Truth. The Jews rejected Him and crucified Him because of their pride and ignorance.

I beleive the testimony of the apostles and beleive Jesus is Lord from the ressurection. Your Budha, Confucious, Muhamed are all dead in there graves.

ok, ALLANON, WTH?
I dunno where you've been for the last 2k years, but I have some bad news for you. JESUS IS DEAD IN HIS GRAVE TOO. :/

Trust me, you won't see jesus walking around any more than you will mohammed, buddha, and any other dead guy.

The Messiah was supposed to end all world wars, among many, many other things, NOT die for peoples' sins. Before 'Christ', the Jews were the only 'people of God', and their documents must've been the 'word of God', or else God lied to them simply because their messiah was yet to show up, which is ridiculous. Keep all that in mind.

Now.. why does the role of the messiah suddenly change when Jesus pops up? Is it because he never did any of the things the messiah was (or is) supposed to do, or because God lied? It has to be one of those things.

Clover you miss the point here. Jesus is the Messiah but before He ends it all EVERYTHING THAT IS IN THE PROPHECIES OF THE BIBLE MUST COME TRUE. Read the following verse if you are open minded enough. Verse 17 in particular.

15Then the angel said to me, "The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages. 16The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God's words are fulfilled. 18The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth."

You see once all the prophecies of the Bible come True the Lamb is allowed to finish the war. Otherwise if the Lamb finished it early than God's Word would be a lie!!!! Do you see??

14They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."

You see this is a difficult time for us beleivers. Lies about God are allowed to be spread about Him because the Authority rests with the Beast. Those that cherish the True Word of God will be delivered on the last day.

ok first- I like the bible because it is a very, very good source for teachings.  Such as love each other, treat others with respect, and don't bash others, eh-em...anywho...does every topic in these forums have to go back to the bible?  I would like to say that arguing about god is pointless, and age-old.  Who cares? And Allanon, I know you want to reply with your "jesus said" and "the bible says" crap but stop acting like your five years old(and i hope your not, because this is grown up stuff)  and grow up!  BTW: 1 thing I'll never understand about the bible:  Why does it say that god loves all who accepts him, but then goes on to tell that it is ok to kill a man if he sleeps with a man? (Nasty I know but killing is a SIN, this is just for example :) )  Does that make sense to you Reverand?  May I remind you killing is a sin, which is punishiable by eternal hell-right?

Allanon, are those quotes pre or post-Christian? If it's post-Christian, then you can safely assume the church was just covering its own butt. I'm pretty sure the Jews never had anything like that, and Jesus was a Jew.

He said, "Go and tell this people:

" 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving.'
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
make their ears dull
and close their eyes. [1]
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed."

If you reject the Word of God you will be allowed by God to be deceived from your own fallen natures. The Word makes no sense to you because you have turned your hearts from the Truth too long.

The signs of the Lord and His return are approaching and the manifestation of the Word will be a testament to God's unalterable Law.

The Fulfillment of the Law

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus came to fulfill the Law, All of it!!! That means whoever beleives in Him and His Word will have his portion of the Law fulfilled.

You never rationalized your denunciation of other gods due to their being 'dead in their graves' when Jesus is just as dead. Don't give me any of that Jesus is still alive crap, fact is he's not here on the physical, nor is mohammed, or buddha. Your arument makes no sense.

Jesus had many, many eye witness accounts of His ressurection.

IT BOILS DOWN TO THE FACT THAT NONEOF THE OTHER RELIGIOUS FOUNDERS EVEN CLAIMTO HAVE RISEN FROM THE DEAD.

Oh yeah, Beavis? I think I can claim ownage over both you and Jesus. I have died over 50 times so far in my life, and I have came back to life every single time with some 300,000 witnesses each time. Unfortunately, these witnesses were on their deathbeds, and they all died and turned out to be less lucky than I've been. But no one needs the testimony of these now-deceased witnesses, because what I say is the word of NLC, and the word of NLC is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH!

Now all I need is a group of people that are good at convincing masses of people to believe ridiculous things and a few hundred years. I'll be the next Jesus (but only as far as Allanon portrays such a character)!

Oh, yeah.. I almost forgot I'm going to have to tell everyone that I'm the REAL God and that I'm dying for everyone's sins. Jesus never said he was dying for people's sins, or that he was God, so I'll be one step ahead of him. [;)]

Maybe, T_K, but that wouldn't fit very well with this statement:

Jesus is just as alive as Buddha in whichever interpretation you take on that.

PHYSICALLY, PHYSICALLY, PHYSICALLY. Jesus Christ rose physically!!!! You must believe that in order to be saved.

19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
21Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."

this is the question everyone asks to everyonelse, do you believe in the bible, when you go to church and you listen to the preacher preach about what happened  and what its causes and effects were in it, by my oppinion i have a no and a yes belief, is it that jesus wrote it or his deciples or a follower, i mean i believe in jesus and the all mighty creater of us but what about the bible? the author i have no idea who, but are we to believe every word that it says by the authors understanding, and im not saying you have to believe or not its just a religeous question. in it i have heard from many people that say ghosts are not real and that they are simply all demons who appear to be good and they feed on on you not in literal terms but kind of pull you in to blieve what they say so they can find the right moment to drag you in, in where i dont know but thats just what i have heard, and others say that ghost arent real and that when someone dies and goes whereever they go cannot return to earth in means of visiting, but thats where they are wrong because what about angels, in my oppinion angels are ghosts they are from another world and that they can even protect by calling them gardian (angels), well im kind of off the subject but i have my oppinions as well as others, im just curious to hear others oppinions and thoughts too so thank you reading this awful long post and i hope for many replies on this matter good day everyone[:D]
