Most of that stuff sounds like people snoring loudly into a microphone, and then they tell you it's a ghost saying "Comere!", or "Hi now!", or something totally random, like, "What are you!"

You can understand that I think most of that is people playing up nonsense to seem like something it surely isn't.

That is not to say there isn't a whole other category of EVP's that I have heard, where they have whole conversations about the other side. At least this second type, there is no doubt at all about the clarity, and you can focus on figuring out whether or not it is a hoax based on its own merits.

I believe it was some group calling it Instrumental transcommunication or something like that (ITC) that brought out all the better ones of the second type. The recordings have a late 19th century spiritualist ring to them, talking about seances, ectoplasm, and the "summerland", so this places doubt in my mind about them too, but who knows, it is certainly interesting. It was years and years ago I listened to them, but I can find some for you!

Here are some samples of this "Second type" I mentioned, which tends toward clarity and conversation:

http://www.worlditc.org/ (http://www.worlditc.org/)

(the way this odd site is setup does not allow a direct link, but from the homepage, go to the "sample contacts" sidebar, then to the "extraordinary contacts" sidebar after.)

The world ITC group was involved with the production of a device they claimed allowed them to have lengthy conversations with their contacts- they called it their "Spiricom".

Samples of the tapes they produced in the 50's/60's:

Have you ever tried Ouija boards? My brother has and he says he's had some impressive experiences with it. I think I'll give it a try tonight, let's see what it's all about.

I am almost tempted to in that, "If everyone is so scared of them, they must do something really cool really fast" sort of way, lol.

I think it is the silly irrational fear that I have that if I do something like that the harm cannot be undone that stops me. Same thing that stops five-year-olds from saying "bloody Mary", lol.

haha I think that's what happens most times. Actually, after reading so many comments on such boards I believe we are afraid of them because they might actually provide us with nearly hard evidence that there is something else going on around us. It makes for a great concept changer.

Ended up not trying it out yesterday, my brother didn't feel like doing it. Let's see about tonight.

Ouija boards attracts lower astral beings/elementals that get a kick out of physically communicating, and it's not good for them or you. You're allowing them access to your subconscious. They LOVE to tell you what you want to hear. If you want to talk to your dead uncle, they will pretend to be him. They will tell you basically ANYTHING that will keep you interacting with them. It's mostly a simple form of mediumship that attracts the lowest beings.

As a teen I messed around with one a lot. I probably had over a hundred working instances with it (very few that didn't). None of which ever taught me a single thing or gave useful information.

Towards the end it got really nasty. The last time was me and my best friend at the time in a dark, closed room with 2 candles burning. It kept telling us that people we loved were going to die soon (naming names), going "666" over and over, and culminated with both candles going out simultaneous and us running out of the room like little girls. Yes, it was funny afterwards, but I've never touched one again. I know the information wasn't real, it was probably subconscious fears and junk, but this isn't the way to go about it. I wouldn't risk any type of mediumship, especially if you already have AP skills. I doubt this will stop anyone who is determined, but as someone once said here, "is it worth summoning the devil to find your car keys?".
