End Times?....

As a scientist [or rather "an academic"] involved in politics, economics, etc I have come to a depressing conclusion [at age of 29!]: this world stinks--the systems and people that run it are pathetic.
We have allowed ourselves to be duped into a system that has no mercy, no tolerance, no loyalty and no emotions towards the people that live in it.

Now, the sad part is--the system will NOT crumble nor will it allow itself to be supplanted with something new, better, more optimistic.

I'm currently participating in a research project on "possible futures of Europe" and while the various scholars write amazing tales, I KNOW 1 thing--a change will not come willingly.
They smile down at me whenever I argue that without a calamity befalling Europe, the system will NOT change, but they have no guts to look that realistically into their "prophecised" future, for through calamity comes loss of control, and without control there is spontaneous EVOLUTION, which all scientists KNOW--cannot be measured and analysed.

I'm currently working in a country where War [if it comes] will arrive a bit later. It is a poor region, filled with unemployed GOOD people, underdeveloped technologically and removed from most centers of...well, everything.

I don't know WHAT I'll do in case of War, but I know that I cannot remain silent.

The world is leaning towards organised and sanctioned dictatorships, the issue is--will many [notice that not all] be BENIGN dictatorships for the benefit of the subjects?

PS. with war and global upheaval--will GOLD come back into value once again??

i agree with you the_demigod that many countries, especially the supposedly "free and democratic" ones, are becoming dictatorships simply because the people don't care enough to stop it.

in canada, for instance, Jean Chretien seems to be TRYING to take canada to the brink of destruction. he approved the kyoto accord WITHOUT ANY CONSENT OF THE PEOPLES OF CANADA. he didn't even ask if we wanted it. no polls, no discussions. he just told us he was going to have it signed and that's what he did. despite the MANY MANY MANY MANY protests against it and the seeming complete desire of the canadian people to NOT sanction it.

and that's only ONE thing he's done recently without approval or consent of the citizens of this country.

the sad thing about it though is that, even when everyone was grumbling about it and saying they thought is was stupid, very few of the citizens did anything to try and stop it from being passed. and once it was passed, people just forgot about it. they just let it happen, then forgot. they don't even care, and won't do anything to change it. as you say the_demigod, it will take a great calamity to change the way things are.

Hey all,

I wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on the Christian Apocalytpic interpretation of current world events. It's been a while since I studied anything like Revelation, and although I like to think I am well past believing the Bible literally, I just can't shake the fact that so many events unfolding today were already predicted in several books of the Bible. The problem is that it doesn't look good, eg. the fact that a war in the Middle East is predicted within the next 2-5 years, that the Jews will destroy the Dome of the Rock and rebuild the Great Temple (has anyone seen the "Red Heiffer" thing - people got crazy over it), the implementation of barcoding/chipping technology, and specific signals for timing that point to the next 15-20 years for the emergence of an AntiChrist figure.

It all sounds very far-fetched, but I had a Benedictine brother sit me down and explain a number of predictions in detail once, and many of the events are already occurring. Just don't know what to make of it. There are so many psychics and so many versions of Prophecy - anyone can make a claim these days, but I put stock in something written thousands of years ago and verifiable today...

Anyway, I'm not gonna go out and horde food and ammo (just yet
) but would love to hear if anyone has a good understanding of it...
