I belive getting the sences mixed up is called syntesti or something . like someone will see any instances of 5 as blue . or feeling colours. or even tasting with hands or feet. To me it seems more dibilating than helpfull(though some impressive tricks can be performed).

Scientists belive its caused by some information leakage between brainhalfes but are unsure if it is damage or a natural prossess of sence creation. Also apperantly some pshycotropic drugs can let one experience this on temporary basis (no info on what drugs).

Synesthesia is what you're aiming at.
Seeing sounds, hearing colours etc.

No, no, I know what synethesia is, a condition of the mind which select individuals are born with.  What I'm talking about can be learned by the average person, whom has no signs of the synethesia disorder.

Again, does anyone know what this ability--the ability of feeling colors--is called?  I would like to know so I may procure more information on the subject.

No responses for three days?  Okay...

Again, does anyone have any info one what I'm asking?  Thanks.

THere is something about a german anthropology professor who taught his students to read and sense a 360 degree area without using their vision.  The paragraph is in a TK article on psipog by not_important.  Unfortunatly there is no more info than that. If you can find out who the professor is I would love to know

I was reading in this book, The Mind and Beyond, that it is possible to learn how to differenciate between colors just by feeling them.  For example, the colors Red, Orange, and Yellow may be on a piece of paper.  One would say Red feels like sandpaper, Orange a bumpy texture, and Yellow a little slippery.  Advanced individuals are even able to tell which color it is which just by hovering their hand over them.

Does anyone know what this ability is called?  I've searched the web and have found zero information on the subject.  Thanks.
