In general, 'aura' is the term used to describe the energy field around the body, and 'halo' is the term used to describe the energy field around the head.

My definition: A Halo is merely the Aura that is visible in the head region.

well from a slightly educated guess... everyone has an aura, and a halo is usually connected with those who have acheived nirvana/enlightenment/etc...

Well, If you speak of a Halo in a Angelic Sense...
Oval rings around or over the head.

for me I when I see an aura it seems to be more condensed and slightly look like a halo with out the hole in the center.

Well... then this is merely a Aura that you are viewing in the Head Region, and not a Halo.
Images of Enlightened Individuals are usually painted in this manner, Such as Jesus, and/or Buddha.

well no I am seeing the whole aura around the body but what  I saying it is just more pronounced around the head which leads me to believe this is where the concept of a halo began.
