How chi fits in (not DBZ or anything)

Here is my understanding of this.

Qi-Vital Breath Energy, (physical) This energy is gained through the breath exercises done in "soft" Qigong or the physical/breath exercises done in "hard" qigong. These ways are not the only way of gaining Qi however, as regular exercise will gain Qi though not in quite the abundance as Qigong. "Qi" literally means "vital breath." This energy is stored in what is called the Dan Tien Located near and partially in the power chakra (note- these are not the same things, for one they are in slightly different locations and for two the energies of each is different.)

NEW energy: basically, this is etheric energy gained from spiritual practice. Normal sleep will gain you this energy though not in abundance as with NEW or Hermetics systems (Initiation Into Hermetics-Franz Bardon is a good and probably the best example of these practices. You can nab that book here: http://www.obza.net/Library/hermetics.pdf) Etheric energy exists in between or sometimes singly in the physical and Etheric planes (3d and 4d for some, or the earth sphere for others ways of looking at the planes of existince.) There are two kinds of etheric energy and two what might be considered sub-kinds of etheric energy. (Again, read the beggining of Franz Bardons excellent book. The section is easy to find as it has elements in the title.)

So no, they are not the same thing. Qi is physical energy, good for physical exercise and not magickal, while ether is very magickal in nature and while it can be usefull for physical endeavers it takes training to make use of such endeavers. (Franz bardons book again ;))

Now I have been going on about Franz Bardons book. Both systems are highly suggested (Qigong and NEW/Hermetics) And it is my belief that you should practice both. Here are some good Qigong books I and my friend picked up:
The Art of Qigong-Wong Kiew Kit
(anything by that author actually, though I do warn that he is heavily traditionalist which holds people back a lot and he has a bit of an ego, as do most "masters" as they are called)

Anything by Yang, Jwing-Ming.

Now I have mixed Qi and Ether together to get interesting results....

Interesting...

I'm not a super-active type of person who would normally have a lot of chi, but I have been toying with the idea of doing something like qigong or xing yi. The motivating factor would be to feel for myself the differences between the chi and etheric energies.

However, I also believe that the NEW system enhances chi flow and potency, and so could potentially be useful for enhancing endeavors of that sort as well.

Anyone else?

Hey everyone. I just thought I'd post a few thoughts that have been rattling around in my head, here.

Specifically on the difference between the subtle energies raised in NEW and the chi force. I've been pretty curious for quite some time now on exactly how chi fits in with the NEW system. For example, is chi the same as these subtle energies? Is it made of the same, let's say, vibrational material? This was something that I had trouble with when I first started NEW... I was familiar with the concept of chi from some martial artist friends of mine, so I naturally wondered if NEW could be the same thing.

After some deliberation I decided that it could not be. Why not? Well, for one thing, chi is fairly physical. By that I mean it can be stimulated and strengthened by physical exercises far more than other subtle energies. Also, I have never seen a discharge of subtle energies with my eyes alone... However, I have seen chi discharges when two of my friends are sparring each other... It looks like heat waves coming off of body parts. I saw this before I started NEW, and my third eye was far from developed then, so this, too, I take as evidence.

But if chi is not the same energies as Mr. Bruce writes of, then what is it? Well, after a few months of casual attention, I decided that chi is the force that we manifest in order to manipulate subtle energies inside ourselves. What I mean is, your "awareness hands" are actually "chi hands." So that would mean that our mind manipulates the chi, which manipulates the higher-vibrational energies. After running this by my friends, we concluded that it was likely true.

Now, it's not like we performed tests under laboratory circumstances and followed scientific procedures. I don't believe in pantheism (the religion of science) and I think the proper laboratory for studies of these sorts would be either in the combat ring (where chi manifests often) or in the meditation chamber (where subtler energies abound). Of course the reason I posted here is to hear your thoughts on the subject, and to find out if anyone else was confused in this matter.

One last interesting thing to note, however... Chi seems to be an electromagnetic force. I had a friend hold both leads of a small electronic multimeter and raise light chi to one hand and dark chi to another, and as he did so the voltage needle jumped around but slowly rose to about 6 volts, where it sort of hovered. I suppose with more chi power one could raise it higher, but I have no idea of amperage or anything and we didn't take it any farther than that. Besides, the resistance of the human body is probably too high to reveal relevant figures with my toy-like apparatus. I have never been able to perform such a feat by charging my own hands with subtle energies. But, if chi truly is an electromagnetic force, can it be generated with electromagnetic fields, and does it have anything to do with orgone, which some claim can be raised in an electronic matter...?

Your thoughts, please.
