Well guys, here it comes. The (Probably) single most asked question on AstralPulse. I have been looking through forums like a naked mole-rat burrowing (hehe) and i can never find ANY straight answeres to haveing auric vision. I know that your third eye needs to be open, and mine could be open, but i really dont know how to be sure, i have been doing a meditation for it that i burnt onto a cd, i have even been playing it in my sleep (weird resulting dreams). and i just dont know how to see auras, i can however, see plenty of colors due to retinal fatigue... wee.
Any help is appreciated

You probably have seen auras. And I know your third eye doesn't need to be open to see the first layer of auras. For example, stare at anything blue for a while. Just let yourself sink into a relaxed state. This is usually the state I go into when I daydream. Soon enough, you should see a yellow layer around the blue object. Simple, no?
Quoteyou should see a yellow layer around the blue object. Simple, no?
Actually Squirrely it isn't that simple. What you are describing isn't an aura, its a result of retinal fatigue. Blue objects will have yellow halos, red objects will have green halos, etc. This is different from seeing auras.
An aura has multiple levels and isn't the same as the complimentary color (described above). Relaxation is definately key to seeing auras, but you do not want to stare at objects either. This causes retinal fatigue.
I don't see auras very often and have only ever seen what I think is called the etheric sheeth. Its the closest and densest layer to the body. And when I do see them I only see them around the head of the person. Usually its a bright sky blue color, regardless of the color of clothes the person is wearing or the background against which they are sitting/standing.
This has happened to me spontaneously when in a meeting or talking with my husband at the dinner table. The size of the aura varies and once I only saw white, no colors. And the colors I see aren't a thin halo around the head like you get with retinal fatigue. What I see look more like clouds. They are round and large and shaped inconsistently. For example I may see a large blue 'blob' on the left side of the head, but nothing or only one or two small 'blobs' on the right. They don't move with my eyes when I shift them around and I don't see any after image when I move my eyes either. So I know I'm not seeing the effects of retinal fatigue.
I think everyone has all chakras open and functioning at some level, even if miniscule relative to the potential capacity. So I wouldn't worry too much about whether or not your 3rd eye is open. How well it is functionning may be relevant though. I don't know
how to see auras, but I can tell you that when I see them I never see them by looking directly at them. I always see them with my peripheral vision. This includes seeing energy around me which I occasionally am able to perceive. So perhaps start by paying more attention to your peripheral vision and relaxing you muscles. I think *trying* to do anything tends to tense muscles and apply stress on the individual. This will also end up affecting your ability.
Try to not try and see them for awhile. Keep meditating, relaxing and focusing on what you are perceiving not only with direct vision but also peripheral vision and see what transpires after a few months.......and yes I wrote "months". Nothing worthwhile in life is fast or easy.
sorry to intrude upon your thread Aural Fixation but I must ask a question. I see actual halos above people in different colors for everyone would this be the retinal fatigue that Novice had described?
Ganamoha you will need to provide more details before I can tell you what I think you are seeing. Are the colors close around the head, like an outline?
no an actual halo as in floating light above the head
It could be either one. You need to check a couple of things.
First, do you see any after image when you shift your eyes from the person being observed? Does the color tend to follow your eyes for a few seconds after you move them from the object?
What is the color of the clothing they are wearing or the background they are standing in front of? Does the color you see around them change with either they clothing or back ground color? This last one isn't conclusive as auras do shift with any emotional/intellectual process. But look to see if you see a golden yellow halo around them when they are wearing blue or against a blue background. See if they have green when in front of a red background. And those colors reverse. So green colors will have a red outline/halo.
Does the halo look like an actual, clearly defined ring above their heads or more like a ball or cloud of color hanging above them?
If the answer is yes to the last question and no to the other questions, then you are probably seeing auras. But you will need to experiment with different people/settings to make sure you aren't catching some kind of complimentary color effect.
well it does not follow my eyes after wards and I also so it instantly so retinal fatigue never occurs and it is like a cloud above the head but more refined in the center making the halo appearance and the colors vary not being the inverse of color of what they are wearing or what color their hair is.
an interesting note when I look into my own eyes a blue hue seems to resonate from them

Auras are tricky things. And Auric Vision differs from person to person. In some folks the "vision" end of it, is actually not seen by the naked eye, but instead by the mind. Overwhelming sensations of colors when dealing with someone. And some lucky folks get the quick and easy route and see the swirly bubble round the person they're reading...
As for opening your third eye, and how to go about it... I'm gonna set you onto the path of Chakras. The third eye is the fifth chakra in the human body. And if you read into chakra cleansing etc... you may stumble across a path that works for you.
Also, some people, not born with 20/20 auric vision, go the route of Crystals... it works for some but not for others. A good all round crystal, that will benefit you in many ways is called Tourmaline. Black ones won't really do the job. But the bi-colored ones, or the watermelon Tourmalines tend to be a great one to have if you're just embarking upon the path of Chakras...
Hope this helped a bit.
