speaking in tongues

I speak in tongues.  Being from a Born Again Christian background, it was taught in my church that only those who were FILLED with the Holy Spirit could do it, but once it happened to you, it is something that will never go away.

Well, believe me, I tried to do this myself.  I tried to fake it.  I tried to learn it.  Nothing worked.  Then one day, during prayer, I was just in my own little world, talking to God, when the next thing I realized, I was talking in tongues!

Everything that came out of my mouth was gibberish (unintelligible to my ears), but it wasn't any kind of gibberish that I could make up....again, because I tried to do that before and it wasn't natural.  This, on the other hand, was very natural.

Since I have long stopped going to church (mainly due to dogmatic preachings and hypocrisies within the church body), I still am able to speak in tongues at will.  Although I usually never do though, simply because it brings back a guilt complex (since I was taught that speaking in tongues is the sign of the Holy Ghost being in you....and since I don't go to church or follow that line of teaching anymore, then I must be betraying something within me....things like that).

Everything you wrote there could have been just as if I had written it. Your experiences here are just the same as mine.

The only difference is I no longer use tongues not because of any feeling of guilt, but because it simply isn't necessary. I now have a direct link to higher beings that doesn't require such a mechanism.

The language (whatever it may have been) I experienced is quite different to what you're describing. Clicking is a part of some African dialects, but definitely not the hissing. Your hearing something that doesn't sound like anything resembling a human language!

The only thing i can contribute to this thread is this useless piece of information: that language, to me, sounds a lot like the elfish language from Lord of the Rings. Perhaps you've been watching/reading too much of that lately! [] []

imagination and pop-culture influences abound im pretty sure that the instances of the language i was hearing is unlikely to be caused by simple daydreaming

I can explain the circumstances a bit more, i was doing some new and energy techniques on the city bus about noon, I was heading to my work

anyhow when im on the bus I contemplate a many a things and this one thought stream was very much centered around the holy ghost concept and I was thinking how everyone and anyone can invoke the holy ghost, and the differences between "divine" madness and regular insanity and was thinking that schizophrenia might be linked to malevolent beings causing ill effects etc

it was in during this little thinking spell that the words started to come along, the more I tried and "understand" their meaning the more complex and far removed they got


and they do sorta sound a little like a turkish-arabian dialect, however the clicking undulating hissing sounds are like a subtle yet necessary part to it and seems like explanation marks, or signifier/signified type remarks,

as for the serpent toungue idea, it possible that the idea or reptilian communication couldv'e weasled its way in there,,

strange thing is it was after the initial bus experience that those david-icke and other BUsh is a reptile cons[iracies where discovered by me on this site

some of the stuff that david-ick and the like is way too sci-fi for me,
but the toungue speaking is interesting

Just a little detail, turkish is not an arab language... Most of the European languages are either slavic (Russian, Polish,..), Germanic (Deutch, German, English,..) or Latinic (French, Spanish, Italian, ROmanian,..) and are all originating from the Indo-European (reconstructed if I might say). However, there are a few places where the people arrive from Asia with a very different language, and I think mainly of these who settled in Turkey, Bulgaria and Finland. These three languages are related and have nothing in common with the European (and Indo-European) languages. As to the arab language it is a semitic language belonging to the same family with Aramean, Hebrew, etc... and these are not related at all to Turkish.

Where do African languages fall, or native American ones like Apache or Cherokee?

Native American languages are completely different. It is believed that Native Americans arrived here tens thousands of years ago, and even that is not know accurately. So my answer would be that I just don't know. Native Americans supposedly arrived from Asia through nowdays Siberia, my guess would be that it is related to some asiatic language, but you better check with a linguist.

I had always thought french was part of the romance languages

it was my understanding that all languages influenced eachother etc'

native americans have a much different form of speach which is why the american government used some dialects as a part of their code in the cold-war etc

a little off topic maybe, but I remember reading a newspaper article about a woman in florida who suffered a stroke, after the stroke she started talking in an english accent , all of her friends sorta ostracised her saying that she wasn't british

other accounts of a polish resident who suffered a stroke and started talking with a german accent (which is a real big nono)
welch speaking in a french accent, etc etc

I thought this very interesting and very hard to explain away by modern science

well everyone has heard of people being in contact with the divine and speaking "tongues" which is either talking in another language altogether, or speaking in a slithery type speech

some scholars has claimed that the speak of the devil is like that of throat talking, stemming from judas preist, as he hangs himself choking like talking, with lots of spitting

anyhow, i was just sitting on the bus one day and i heard long sentences of such speak in my mind, i couldn't decipher it it was complex and of unknown intentions to me, perhaps it was just my own imagination but i don't think so,

it was like human speech, almost like italian,or french but much more complex, and of sounds that the common individual would have great difficulty reproducing, long words, broken up with "clicks" and hissing
and lots of "ulu"

closest ive been to write it down is like this, spoken phoenetically
"tea-chacklithu, Somnar pe li Illastru inthin"
and is only a segment of what ive been hearing

i don't really dwell on such things unless i want to
