What if someone hallucinates say an energy-ball for example, it is only his imagination but does that make the energy ball "Real" only in his reailty or is it actual there in reality? I mean don't you need to use your imagination and some visualisation to make energy (in this case "flaring" and energy-ball) to be "physically visible"? How would you even know if its a hallucination or not? Or is it the same thing?

What do you guys think? Or better yet know

Psan

It all depends on how you choose to define reality.
In common everyday terms, something is called real when more than one person can confirm its existence and the thing appears more than once or it has some measurable effect on something else.

i would guess that the hallucination exists on the mental plane, an you precieve it to be in the physical.

nice thanks for the great replies; just the kinds I was looking for.

I understand the mental plane in theory, but I don't know much about it: lack of research on my part, but most importantly experience I do not have.

how does reality work on the mental plane? does it work the same way as this physical reality? or is this collective conciousness

Silver Incubus

well it could be the astal and real time zone, overlapping in your perception.  Reality is created in you mind, and because your mind is in an altered state causing halucinations, it overlaps and is seen as 1 reality without distinctions between mental images/thoughts and general reality.

it is only real if it affects things outside your own mind. it is not real just because you have faith

right but what is reality in the mental plane? is it collective like the physical plane where reality is real if it affects things outside your own mind or is it real as long as it is a mental thought meaning others can confirm its existence on the mental plane? Or do we each have our own realities on this mental plane? Wouldn`t that make everything unreal?

Please indulge me - what affects things outside my own mind?  I mean, might just everything that goes on be a product of my own mind?

Yes, I'm playing devil's advocate - I'm intrigued.

Indulge me.

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

i think he meant the same as psan's definition

it is possible that everything is a product of your own mind, no doubt. but then that would mean that you are the only one and everything else, this so called reality and that so called reality, was created by your mind. then that would mean that you were just one great being and everything in existence was mind: you are everything/everything is you, all is but an illusion created by the mind. hey...isnt that God?

so, how does reality work in the mental plane? is there even such a thing as reality? maybe my question is not so clear or it isnt being interpreted as intended...what i mean is is everything mental automatically real on the mental plane? if it is, then reality no longer exists because that means you cannot have individual realities, so basically what is just is!?? anyone?
