I've become Psychic Detective

As a professional psychic reading for the public, I knew eventually I would run across a criminal. I'm so caught up in the middle of this thing, it's taking over my life now, every day there's a new wrinkle in the case.

It's this woman I've been reading for several years. A middle age blond. Lets call her "Anne." She came in complaining. Her mother in law had just died, and had left all her money to her favorite son, cheating Anne's husband, "Bob," out of his inheritance.

I looked into my cards and immediatly knew this was wrong. I saw Bob got his fair share, plenty, in fact. Anne insisted her poor husband got nothing. I told her to go back and look again.

After turning up nothing, Anne drags in Bob for a reading. Maybe with him in front of me, I could get more details. I look at my cards, then back up at Bob, and tell him he got a hefty inheritance. Bob looks me in the face and insists it isn't true.

Anne drones on and on about how mean and unfair and nasty her mother in law was, cheating her poor husband out of the money.

That night, I get a little visit from the dead mother in law. She is very upset. She tells me she is being "falsly accused" and that she wishes Anne would stop sending her negative energy.

I tell Anne about the visit. Anne says "Too bad! If she didn't want me to send her negative energy then she shouldn't have made things so unfair!"

I ask Anne if she had seen will with her own two eyes. Anne says Bob told her his mother died without a will. I convinced her to take a drive down to the county courthouse and check for herself.

Surprise surprise. Not only was there a will registered at the county courthouse, but Bob had indeed recieved half of his mother's estate. Her husband was a very rich man. And here Anne had been supporting him. He had racked up Anne's credit cards to the tune of $35,000.

Anne had allowed him to use her cards, because he had been forced to take a low paying job. I knew instantly this was another lie. I told her Bob was making a sizeable income.

For the second time, Anne gave me the brush off, insisting I was wrong.

Finally, after several more readings, and my insistance, she decided to check through the bank statments. I was right, again. Her husband  WAS making more than double what he claimed.

Anne again made excuses for Bob. He really loved her. And so on.

In the next reading, I'm set into full alarm. I tell Anne her husband is trying to steal her house, (which she bought and paid for alone.)

For the THIRD time, Anne told me my reading could not be correct. There was no way Bob could get his hands on her house.

After much pleading, I get Anne to take yet another drive down to the county courthouse.

Low and behold... Bob has forged his name onto the title of her house. The Paralegal looking it up said "Uh oh..looks like we have a bad apple," then, turning to Anne said "You're dealing with a con-artist, he's trying to take your house."

It's an obvious forgery. It's not an original, but a copy. And doesn't even have a deed to go with it.

Anne calls me from the courthouse to give me the news. I start screaming at her and refuse to stop until she agrees to drive straight to the sheriffs office.

The sheriff said "You let him sweet talk you into this didn't you?"and directed her to a real estate attorney.

Now, here's where it gets scary. The next thing I saw, was life insurance.        I told her I believe her husband has taken out a large life insurance policy, possible several policies, in her name.

For the FOURTH G*DD*MN TIME this woman is giving me the brush off. "Oh no, he wouldn't do that." I am having to nag her every day, trying to get her to call around and check.

She's telling me she "Doesn't have time" to call around. (?!)

I understand not wanting to know her husband is setting up to kill her and take her house, but, ...AARRRGGGHH!  This is her LIFE at stake!

By the way, I would like to add that I believe her husband is involved with other crooked business schemes involving forgery and such, it does not end with defrauding his wife. I believe he has partners.

After telling Anne this, she let me know her husband is fairly obsessed with crime and mystery novels. I think he is getting at least some of his ideas and inspiration from them.

The novel laying on their bedroom dresser right now, is about a man making a lot of money from document fraud. His wife catches him in the act,  so on their second anniversary he takes her on a boat ride and throws her overboard.

Bob and Anne's second wedding anniversary is coming up, Bob has a boat, and has been asking Anne if she wants to go for a ride.

What can I say... It is very sad that 'Anne' won't open her eyes , but such things happen very often. People rarely accept the possibility that the one they love might betray them once.

Its a shame she won't listen. But in the end, you have done all that you can to try and help her. Ultimately its her decision to make whether she acts on your advice or not.

Though it is really mind-boggling how blind people can be when staring at obvious facts. I have never understood it myself.

I hope nothing happens to her. But if it does, at least she already caught the house scam and reported the incident to the sheriff's office. So Bob should be suspect #1 on their list.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

Conjure Man

This is really very interesting. Perhaps you should let Bob know you know what he is up to. Run his plan down to him to the last letter. This may deter him from killing her. But he will still rip her off since Anne doesn't seem to be real intent on learning anything from this.
Narrator: This is crazy...

Tyler Durden: People do it everyday, they talk to themselves...they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it.

Dear God girl!!!  I would be very careful.  What an amazing experience to be having though!  Its like the movies only better!  I would probably atleast tell the local authorities what you think is happening so if it DOES happen (hopefully not) you can atleast say I told you so because they probably wont believe you.  Then I would recommend to Anne the services of a private detective to watch Bob closely.

A note of caution with the cops though, you go into too much detail and they will think your involved most likely even though you arent.  Even with the growing popularity of psychic detective shows on TV most people will probably still think your a nut and know this stuff from first hand experience or involvement.

So she comes to you for a reading and when she doesn't like it, turns around and says you're wrong...only believes in things if they resonate with her thinking! It could be her conditioning though. She probably grew up not believing in psychic and has a little time to waste for a "a bit of fun".
