Title: Stones/crystals need help to identify them!
Post by: Links Shadow on September 20, 2003, 13:08:47
That is a rather fuzzy picture, do you think you could get a clearer picture of them?  If not I am afraid it would be hard for us to help.

Here is a site with pictures of many different kinds of stones you might want to browse that site comparing the pictures to the ones you have.

Hi Tortue

Like Links said it's a bit fuzzy maybe you could post a description of them. Starting at the left, the first one looks like either an amethyst or a fluorite.  Three of the stones show up quite black so it's hard to tell.

They could be onyx, bloodstone, obsidian or garnet. Garnet is a deep red colour probably not this because a polished one this size would be expensive, bloodstone is dark green with reddish specks, onyx when held to the light is opague, obsidian appears black but when held up to a light you can see through it as it's volcanic glass. Tourmaline is black but I've never seen one polished.

The 2nd from the left looks like labradorite. The reddish one could be a carnelian, the orange one could be calcite or citrine then the last one looks like a polished quartz.
     Hope this is some help

Hi everyone,
just  wondering if the stones in the picture are lined up in the order of 1st chakra down the eighth one. Each chakra can have a specific range of stones that can be used to activate it.
Hope this helps to identify the stones.

Here something from the crystal forums.....

From runlola: red: health, energy, protection, first chakra (ruby, garnet)
orange: emotions, sexual, creativity, second charka (amber, sunstone)
yellow: mental power, confidence, ambition, third chakra (citrine, tiger's eye)
green & pink: love, connection, compassion, forth charka (emerald, tourmaline, jade, kunzite)
light blue: expression, individuality, communication, fifth chakra (aquamarine, turquoise, blue lace agate)
dark blue: psychic power, intuition, purification, sixth chakra (sapphire, tanzanite, azurite)
violet & white: spirituality, truth, enlightment, seventh chakra (amethyst, danburite, sugilite, phenacite)

Citrine can be one of the stone as it is a common one forclearing emotions etc. Quartz is a common stone too. Labradorite is used for astral travel and connect with the divine. It looks like a marble. It can be used for massages.

Good luck finding out the name. please tell us what u have found.
Thanks in advance.

Celeste's advice seems sound, but I think that if the 3rd from the left is blue/bluish-gray, it's probably sodalite.
The reddish brown one is, I think, jasper and the orange beside it might also be carnelian... I hadn't thought of it being orange calcite, because that's so much more expensive than carnelian but you could be right. I don't think it'd be citrine, 'cause citrine is (usually) more translucent than this one seems.
Black tourmaline is also more expensive than either onyx or obsidian.

Every Chakra kit I can remember has had common, inexpensive stones in it, though it's quite possible you've got the exception.
[;)].

Tortue... do you have a local shop that sells the individual stones?
If so, try going and comparing your stones... it's much easier to tell in person.

Hi all,

I bought a couple of chakra stones in kit.
But it didn't say anything about the names of the stones.
So I need a little help to identify them.
Do you recognize them ?
I try to put them in chakras order.

Thanks in advance,
