Title: The Year 2003
Post by: James S on September 30, 2002, 23:25:55
Um... General-Army, we're going to have to change your screen name to General-Vagueness!

Have you got anything more specific, or a few totally ambiguous visionary-ish statements you could make? A few of those and you could be right up there with the best of the prophets -  General-Nostradamus

Yeah, ok...I'm a rat.
I've finished teasing you now.
I can't blame you for getting a few suspicious feelings though. With lots of countries in the asian continent pointing lots of big guns at each other, and an American president who's just a few neurons shy of megolomania (well that's ho we see him over here), lots of people are feeling a bit nervous about now.

It would be nice though if you were to feel that something GOOD was going to happen next year.

In anticipation,

James.

I have a strong feeling that alot of things are going to happen in 2003. Unfortunately it probably will be close to the same stuff that happened in 2002. Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, start over. LOL Wait that is not funny that is depressing.

James, I do not think you are the only one that feels that way, and you are probably not in the minority either. About Bush that is. There probably will be a war since he seems so hell bent on doing it reguardless of anything else.

There's talk about a certain "Planet X" coming into close contact with the Earth in May 2003. most of the places i've heard this have said they have proved it, and have also said that the govt is trying to cover it up. i.e. why observatories everywhere are mysteriously "under construction". i'm taking a neutral pov of this, cant decide, so i'm not gonna choose. but what is supposed to happen is a pole shift. this event could (in my mind hopefully is) the end of the world and the ascension of humans into the 4th dimension, btu that would recquire certain world disputes to be resolved very quickly, and many people reconsider their connection with God. well, i hope that was objective enough, i'm only passing on what I've heard.

Right. I forgot all about that planet X stuff. Apparently we would have several weeks before the shift as a warning (that would be the consider/ignore sign for me) when the planet could be visible. Also, apparently the Earth would survive, but it's orbit would change, with massive but not total death and destruction.

Now I realize why death is a symbol of change...

We'll just live our lives in '03, and if the signs of anything catostophic are coming, we'll find a way to avoid it (or make peace with ourselves), and if we don't see it coming, there's nothing we could do anyway and it would be quick. So I say don't worry about it until there looks like a reason to.

I really cant be bothered by all these tedious 'the end is nigh' predictions and 'feelings' about such and such a year! We get this EVERY year!

I think I might go mad if I hear another person going on about how they have funny feelings about this/next year/whatever.

Christians and western culture generaly, steeped as it is in christian apocalyptic mythology/tradition is particularily suseptable to this kind of irrationality.

What you find though (time and time again!) is that when the proposed year passes and the world is stil there, the feelings/predictions move on to ANOTHER year! You think that people would have learned by now you think? Especially after all the milennium fiasco which resulted in (of course) nothing!

Apologies for anyone offended by my slightly cynical attitude to all this but I have heard this all before for years!

Regards,
Douglas

PS

you can also count on the fact that this time next year myself or someone else will post in to reply to the latest batch of 'funny feelings' about the following year, and as usual will be ignored!

Douglas

I dont have feelings the world is going to end, my feelings i have are different from that, its feelings about something major either bad or good is going to happen.

Every man has their fear of dieing, whether it be of pain or not knowing where you are going, however, mine is the family, memories, and good times i leave behind.

Well I do have a weird feeling about this war against Iraq that the US is going to start. I really do not wish to go to war, but I know that we will because the Pres is so hell bent on doing it that I think he will stop at nothing. I am just wondering about all what can happen because of this. Will the US loose allies and destroy the new friends we have recently made? Will other nations help Iraq just because of the Presidents striking first? One thing is for sure, it will be the end for many innocent Iraqis and possibly a new beginning for others.

I've scheduled a confernce for the creation of a constitution for a United Earth Government. It will change the world. I had a feeling about thirteen I thought it was Sept 13th, but nothing happened. Any way the I set the conference date for Feb. 13th 2003. Maybe I fulfilled my own "feeling". By the way  If anyone wants be part of it contact me no place has been set as yet but I need four other people to help get things rolling before the 13th of 2003.

Every year is an important year for me. This year has been the best one so far. Next will be better.

Agreed, for me 2001, 2002 and 2003 have been/is/will be fantastic because it is at the end of each of these years that each instalment of The Lord of the Rings comes out!

Hehe...

Of course I will always prefer the books but the films are an excellent movie adaption...... The Two Towers -  December the 19th.
Now there's one prediction I think should be fairly reliable for once..... This film will be GOOOOOD!

I'm certainly no doom munger but One thing I can tell you is that this whole planet x thing really has me spooked!!

1/ a month or two ago I had a end of the world dream and the sun was shooting out flares I think. also dreamed of buildings getting blown up and a death toll rising byt the second!

2/ All those not from the Uk say aye? ok then you probably wont know about the earthquakes in manchester a few over the last week. Not that unusual but it is in England. could this be due to the whole planet x phenomena.

3/Not to worry I did a divination and it said that it would be something that would have to happen but for the good of all!!!

Just my 20 quids worth

"Also, in regard to the whole "mystery planet" theory, wouldn't a PLANET which is supposed to pass so close to earth and cause so much destruction be noticeable? Why could a measily planet have such an effect on the sun when the sun accounts for 99% of the mass in our solar system? "

As to the first part.  The problem with detecting brown dwarf stars is that they are alot colder than a "normal" star because they do not have a core capable of nuclear fussion.  Therefore most methodes to detect stars do not work for detecting brown dwarfs. That and the path that this thing sapposedly takes would obscure it from view for a majority of its in-bound path.
As to the second part.  A brown dwarf is kinda a half and half.  It has the extream size and density of a star however it is not heat producing.  Kinda imagine some thing that looks and acts like Jupiter but is the same size as the Sun.  They really aren't sure weather to classify them as planets or stars since they carry they properties of both.  However an object of that magnitude could in theory grab other planets if it were to come close enough to them.  Its gravitational pull is equal to most stars.

I, for one, think we should be prepared for tomorrow to be our last day. I know that sounds a bit of a downer, but let me explain. As we all know the future is not a static thing. There are many different ways we may end up, and the fact that we have the ability to change what people have envisioned for the future hinges on the fact that nothing stays the same. Realizing this, ive chose to concentrate on changing what i can for the better, in my life. And this lends itself to a great feeling of contentment, and i know that if my physical passes, i have done all i can to make this a better world, and thats all anyone can ask of me.
Of course, one person does not an army make. It takes a contingent of peace loving, determined people to change what the war-mongers have gotten us into. Thats why its important for everyone who feels the same way i do to speak up. Say whats on your mind, and be prepared to get critized for it. Unfourtunely, we are the miniority, and that always lends itself to a degree of persectuiton. All i can say is, it takes work to accomplish any task. You out there who are of the like mind as I, yet sits back and lets events unfold might as well join the war-mongers in their quest for gold and power. I say its time for us to be heard, and try to change this path we are going down. Dont be idle and docile. Be strong and upfront about your ideas. Work for change my friends and it will happen. Do nothing and we will surely face the consequences.

Well...I don't know if this is important or anything but I got this feeling today when i was writing down the date on my paper in history class that it should be 2003 now.  It might have been partially because yesterday was Samhain, the witch's new year and i was thinking about that.  I dunno...it was kinda weird.  Ya kno, I was thinking "October is over so it's 2003."  Am i making sense cuz I don't feel like i am.  I'm being repetitive aren't it.  oh well...

I keep having this feeling about the year 2003, as if somethings major is going to happen in that year. I even get the feeling and think, 2002 was last year and its 2003 now. Does anyone else think anythings going to happen in the year 2003?
