All of you have probably heard of this of course and it is one of the problem that our civilization will have to deal since, I think, we do possess the technology to put this thing out of danger.
People might say ''Wow'' when they observe the water going up in the air but they do not know what kind of monster is hiding under their feet. Everybody thinks that a volcano needs to be a huge cone growing up in the air but this is not the case with this one; it is called a ''supervolcano'' for some reason... Not surprisingly, of course, many people associate this type of event with ''the End of Days'' scenario but we all know that it is something we do not want to happen. The idea whit this is not to say: ''when do you think it will happen''; it is to act and stop the treath. It may blow today, in 100 years or a 1000 years because it is hard to evaluate (we have not seen one that have erupted yet). What should we do with this crap folks?

Take care,
Not much we can do to prevent it obviously, and it appears overdue from what archaeologists can gather about its past pattern of erupting.
If you want to keep yourself safe, then move out of range of it (I heard an expert on the subject once give stats of a likely eruption, and anything within 250 miles of the explosion would pretty much be dead within minutes, buried under ash).
Also it will block sun from the midwest, aka the breadbasket, where a lot of the world's food is grown (ie corn, which is in an UNBELIEVABLE amount of products we consume, either as corn starch or corn syrup, used to feed livestock, etc. etc.). I think the best solution to that would be to move far away from Yellowstone, secure a personal source of food, and hope it doesn't die.
Does anybody know for how wide of a region sunlight would be blocked, or for how long?
The most recent eruption of a supervolcano was Toba, in Sumatra, 74 000 years ago. There's another link that might explain a little bit:

The effect is on a global scale; the average temperature will drop because of the incredible amount of ash that went up into the air. But I do not believe it will cause any ''mass extinctions'' like some might think.
this reminds me of the apocalypse...tidal waves, earthquakes, volcanoes
I remember hearing about this a LOT on Coast to Coast AM, and that it was actually supposed to have gone off last september. I've also heard a lot of scary rumors like land reformation through out the park. I dont think theres anyway to even estimate what kind of damage it would do when it eurupts, so I guess we can just hope for the best and expect, bad.
It's a scary prospect, but if it happens, it happens. Nothing we can do about it.
I live in Bozeman MT right on top of it!!!!
These posts always make me think about it.
What a way to go, huh? I'm scared.
Wow- I think I'd almost prefer the supposed gigantic tidal wave in 2007 to being burned alive or choked to death by noxious gasses!
I for one choose the demon war in the astral. noxious gases would be too kooky.
Not the demon war again.. :P
;)

:) Maybe like that in some hentai anime movies?
From a relative of mine:
"Isn't there a "Save Yogi Bear" campaign?"

Im moving to the moon, earth is too unstable. Bye.
lol- no kidding! :) I wonder what the safest/most peaceful country in the world is.
the big one will hit and the super volcano will erupt around 2012
