the idea of a dream catcher is that it catches all of the nasty dreams and lets them rot in the webbing, akin to a spider and prey

but if the creator of the dreamcatcher has malicious intent

than yes a bad dreamcatcher could occur
opinions are like kittens, just give 'em away

It is not really a good idea to use someone else's magical/metaphysical/spiritual tools especially if you have no knowledge of who and what it was used for. You have no idea what the intent and energy that could be associated with it. I hear you can clense such tools, but in such a situation I would just get rid of it.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

I did get rid of it. Back then I had no idea about any of this kind of thing. I have learned now... I believe that I am going to be afraid of dreamcatchers for the rest of my life. [:)] At least I know that I will never pick another strange object up. Thank you for your replies. It is kinda nice that I can come here and people don't think that I am a great story teller. Not everybody believes me about that retched thing. Thank you.

Hi Crystak,

Just wanted to let you know you are very welcome to the forum, and wishing for you that the fear will go (as I's sure it will given time)!

Do please enjoy your visits here,

Hi, Crystak!  Welcome to the forums[:)]

I just wanted to chime in about the part where your son percieves colors with different people.  It sounds like he may have synesthesia.  It's very similar to what I experienced as a kid and I'm  a synesthete.  For me it also includes some words having a taste, sounds having feeling and visual references, and some objects have a percieved gender...it's different for everyone with synesthesia.  Don't worry, it's not some type of awful disorder--we're just lucky to have been born with extra sensory inputs.

If you want to read up on it, you might try this site: http://web.mit.edu/synesthesia/www/synesthesia.html
or just do a google search on it.  From the way you described your son referencing people with colors, it just really stuck a chord with me--especially given how young he is.

Namaste,
Reemy

Thank you for that link. I know, he is very special, and I am a bit worried that it will putter out. I know that some parents press in on children, while others smother it. I just hope that I have found a happy medium with him.

I hope that I am posting in the correct spot. If not, I am sorry. My son is 5 years old, and I believe that he sees people's auras. I say that because he always refers to people as colors. "Mommy, when is your blue friend coming over?" "Mommy, where did your yellow friend go?" Stuff like that. I moved into a new apartment and was cleaning the drawers out because I don't like dust and weird "unknowns" in my apartment. I pulled out a drawer in my kitchen and I found this odd shaped dreamcatcher, an out dated newspaper, a credit report. The paper and the report were from 1988. So, I was guessing that this dreamcatcher was around the same age. It was all handmade. A limb or a twig made the "circle" part. There were 3 white crystals and I think that there was also a purple stone also. In the middle was a nut. I think that it was a nut. It was engraved, it had the identical carvings on either side. There were also 2 feathers. I thought it to be pretty so I hung it up. After I did that, weird stuff began happening. My son, who was a little over a year, began waking up in the middle of the night screaming. His toys would turn on by themselves. He would wake up with cuts, I have no idea from what, on his face and the palms of his hands. He also got some on his back. I was talking to a friend about this, and she told me to put the dreamcatcher in the closet and see what happens. I put it up and nothing happens, for about two weeks. Then one night, my closet doors began shaking. I went in my room, took the dreamcatcher out of the closet and threw it out side. Never touched it again, and I never had any other weird occurrences. Now my question is: Are there such things as bad dreamcatchers? Or was my imagination getting the best of me? Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this.
