Ummm..  That doesn't sound like your guide at all.  Your guide is one of the most loving and knolegable entities you can ever have in your vacinity.  Your guide knows you better then you know yourself.  You must atleast in the beginning talk to your guide outloud, not loud a whisper will do, but seperate from your chain of though.  If your immediate helth is, umm okey, then you are probably talking to your false ego, the little red guy on your sholder (not the one with the wings) heehee.  I would instruct him to stay in his righful place, and ask your true guide that he cement the lower level shut.  

YOu will know once you make contact with your guide.

Did you ever recieve any useful information which has been subsequently confirmed and enriched your life? Did you start suffering any sort of psychic attack after starting the practice? And did you get the names on the entity(/s) involved?
bear in mind that all forms of divination by default have to come through, and be processed by, your subconscious mind (in a similar way to have physical sight is assimilated - it actually hits the retina upside-down!). Whenever I divine for anything I (oops - make that usually, asked for help from the nature elementals a little the other day, performed LBRP later tho so OK) I always make sure I am addressing solely my subconscious mind, and no entities. Though I have only really bothered with pendulum divination, I have got some great results.
It does seem that some forms of divination are more prone to attracting negs than others - eg Quigi (?sp?). This could be due to how they have been used by others in the past, setting up a natural energetic attraction whenever they are used in the future. I do not know about automatic writing but would advise that you may well find it a life enhancing skill (hey, people pay money to get a hypnotherapist to do the same thing - ask their unconscious questions) but you should definately make sure you know who you are talking to. However, this may be difficult - I have run across negs which claim to be parts of my own psyche (not that it helped much heh). So perhaps carry out within a magickal (consecrated?) circle, and say to yourself at the start "I am adressing only my subconscious mind, no entities may interfere". Perhaps a prayer of protection? bear in mind that it is possible that if entities latched on to you through the old automatic writing they may contact you as soon as you try again, so be careful.
To give you some examples of quite how useful divination can be here are a couple of my successes:
Predicting exam questions
Getting closer to the true causes of my depression last term, allowing me to shield myself and apply various other techniques to ease it
Predicting the future

note: the un/subconscious mind has access at least to the collective unconscious, most likely the akashic records, and can therefore bring back the various predictions/faces of the future. The best analogy I have ever heard is imagine an inland lake with an underwater tunnel/passage connecting it to the sea. The surface top layer is the conscious (unmuddy your mind!! - see deeper), and what is below is the subconscious, which is connected to akasha (= the ocean)

Inguma, I liked your subconscious/unconscious analogy. I've been using a similar swimming pool analogy:

At the surface is your conscious mind; it's easy to see what's going on. Deeper is your subconscious mind, and here the water gets a little murky; harder to discern what's going on. At the bottom is your unconsicous mind. Every so often something floats to the surface.

I never considered working in the connection to the collective stream of consciousness, so I'll use your inland lake with an underground tunnel to the sea analogy now. Thanks!

P.S. Automatic writing could come from your higher self, other entities, or your subconscious/unconscious mind. Doesn't sound very reliable to me.

Hi all,
I found this to be interesting; yesterday I was inspired to take up the pen and contact my invisible friends. I wrote several pages of communication and then out of nowhere, someone came on identifying themselve as my mother. Here is the message I recieved. "Scott, this is your mother. You need to stop writing with these slimey creatures, they are not good. I'm doing good , your father is doing good, and you are doing great. I'll pray for you, and you need to pray more. All my love" needless to say, i believe i will heed the advice given and attempt a higher form of communication. I've always had the feeling that the entities contacted by this form of communication were somewhat less than honest. Many of the beings contacted even described themselves as monsters. the other day a being described itself as an ominous monster that rides on the backs of people. In the past I've always just blown this chatter off as simple spiritual yap.
I would like to hear from anyone that has had similar experiences

I experimented with automatic writing for approximatly a year and a half. I got to the point where I would ask the writer to ask my guide/guides if they wanted to tell me anything. as far as I can remember they would always tell me that my guide said not to talk to me...(the entity)..because I am evil..(the entity). Those claiming to be my guides would never write to me but would often tell those who were writing to give me a message if I asked. Finally, talking through another entity, my guides told me not to write anymore and I haven't since that time. Does anyone have any knowledge that they can share with regards to this.
