A 4 meters high and 55 meters wide round saucer formation has been found at
87 meters depth of the Baltic Sea. In the middle there is one half a meter big hole.

There is speculation that this formation was made of burnt concrete by the Nazis.

...or by Aliens.

As far as I know, the "Baltic sea ufo" is still being reported on by a single group with one ship. They only took a couple sonar images so far, and a lot of the hype is around the claim they made that their instruments have shut off when they were directly above it.

People have suggested that they are dramatizing this find as much as possible, in order to sell trips out there that they have already admitted to have booked with high profile peope in advance.

With that caveat, still very intersting, and lots of people are speculating about it at the moment, although many think it might be a basalt formation.

If you view the video link and the photos, you may notice that the photos
and moving video clip by the divers are more than "sonar images".

The photos released have been taken by the divers.

Rocks have been handed over to geologists and the divers are waiting for
a response.

I think I'm going to wait and actually see what they found before jumping to any conclusions.
We'll let the facts speak for themselves when they come around...

Yeah, looks like some new photos have been released since I last followed this, thanks.

Still looks like a rock formation, but I do agree that it has some fairly peculiar features, with the mound-formation they discovered appearing to be a fairly perfect circle.

People these days always trying to find something to discredit the finders and give people doubt. And what better way to do that then put in on 'Discovery News'.

I watched the video on youtube (link wouldn't load the video) and when they showed the area of this "rock formation" that was sitting on the ground you can clearly see this doesn't look like a regular rock formation, maybe a regular rock formation has formed on top of whatever this object is. It looks as if the dome is placed on the sea floor and you can clearly define this object.

If this was a regular rock formation why would there be this perfect dome with a clearly defined line around this object that you can clearly see this isn't part of the sea floor ? And what are the odds of a perfect dome shaped pillow of basalt,?

I'm not saying this is a UFO but I am saying it isn't a regular rock formation

Linda Moulton Howe was on Coast to Coast Radio a couple of days ago with a member of the Ocean X Team. She has more info pertaining to this on her website here.

A couple of callers to the show came up with possibilities on what it was. One said he worked on Oil Tankers that frequented that area and that it may be a tank that was realeased from the ship during a severe storm. He said they had to do this because of risk of capsizing or breaking up. Another caller said it might be a tank of waste that was dumped secretly to get rid of it. Both are credible scenarios to look at.

The radioactivity in the Baltic Sea is higher than normal, mostly due to
the Chernobyl leak and to radioactive waste dumped by the Russians
over the years.

At this particular site the radioactivity was 20 times higher than normal.

The formation could be a broken nuclear sub or just some reactor waste which
has been covered with a huge concrete lock. And the originators may not be
too proud of being revealed.

Also, there is a second site...

At the second site a few hundreds meter away, there is some kind of
underwater pillar at the center of a rectangular structure, which seems
to be made up of two different parts, like two separate buildings.

Some distance away there also seemed to be some kind of heat source,
possible one of those natural underwater volcanoes.

The currents are probably very strange as the divers measured -1 (minus one)
degree Centigrade where they would have expected +4 degrees C at the
first site.

There are some news about this in Swedish media, date 2012-07-15:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/article15115975.ab

My online translator broke but here is some translations:

"Electronics has inexplicably broken, it's as if something doesn't want us to be
there, says one treasure team member.

Our side scanner broke down, a cable, to the robot we use, burnt and electronics
in the boat stopped working.

Last time something similar happened. Our satellite phones stopped working. It is
as if something doesn't want us to be there.

Yesterday, Anders Autellus, former captain of the Swedish submarine fleet, said he
thought the circle was part of an old Nazi or Soviet submarine trap. That theory is
rejects by one member of the treasure team.

We wanted to determine whether it is man-made, but we can not. We are not a bit
wiser now than before, quite the contrary. I can't explain what caused the stone slits
to have 90-degree edges.

When the former submarine captain Autellus hears about the destroyed electronics,
he has a few different proposals on what it can depend on.

- There may be something that the Soviet Union placed there. A underwater-based
listening station - a sort of alarm to warn war ships that a submarine is in the area.

The teams says, we are going out again as soon as we've changed equipment."
