Isn't it possible that prior to those dreams your subconscious might have picked up images from a historical book? I'm not ruling out the reincarnation explanation, I'm just pointing out other possibilities and asking you if that's possible in your case. What were your parents into. Do they have historical books that might have contained illustrations which could have potentially triggered the narrative and characteristics of your dreams?

By the way, PM me on Buhlman's viewpoint and on how to potentially make my pineal gland secrete higher quantities of DMT in the OOBE-state. :-D

No.

We were definitely lower middle class in those days and I think my mom got Good Housekeeping mag and my dad had a set of books by Churchill on WWII. That was it. We kids had the Childcraft books and my older siblings were just getting into the willy & Jane readers. No way there was any data at all in those that even came close to providing the sort of detail of ancient history that was in those 'dreams'. I was witnessing adults in adult scenarios engaged in financial and religious-political activity that I had no concept of in any way, shape or form. I was watching it like a movie and the detail was enormous and completely outside of a young child's modern reality. Much of the info did not even exist in any book until 30 years later, as far as I have seen. Some of it is not yet published anywhere (that I know of).

It was not until I reviewed the material in meditation sessions as an adult that I began to come to any sort of understanding of it all.

I would say that if reincarnation did exist, it's not quite the way people "remember" it. It's not the ego born in this lifetime that would have experienced it, but memories from another ego that is not you. Identifying with it as though "you" experienced it first hand is incorrect. So to say "in my past life" would be wrong. More correct would be "in a life which my ego has a non-physical connection to".

I'm not saying this is correct, but I find more plausible than a single ego hopping from one life to the next in a linear fashion, and I think that's how many tend to envision it.

I was also going to say...is it possible that how you remember your dreams now may not be exactly the same as how you actually experienced them? And what if you imagined something that turned out to have been a reality millennia ago by sheer coincidence? :|

QuoteAnd what if you imagined something that turned out to have been a reality millennia ago by sheer coincidence?

I don't want to beat this to death but I can offer a clear and hopefully final explanation on this.

There was no way that I could have "imagined" it. It would be like a 5 year old imagining a Laplace Transform as applied to electronic design. As I said, the detail involved realities that a child would have no concept of. It was a level of complexity in finances, religion and politics that were wayyyy beyond a young child's sensibilities.

Some children are prodigies and their astounding sensibilities could be said to be generally way beyond that of a young child's. If it wasn't "imagined", it could have been "sub-imagined". On the other hand, rather than being a past life, what if it was a narrative formulated by your mind from received future data via precognition? You would, after all, come across the actual historical data later on which would corroborate your dreams. Rather than reincarnation, what do you think about the precognition hypothesis?
