thats disgusting, if it was true, than the usa is using "dirty nukes"

but I also heard than in iraq, after the fall of saddam,  iraqi civillians raided nuclear power plants for resources and materials

one of those things taken, where 200 plastic drums filled with uranium salts and other radio active waste.

after "washing" the contents of the drums down the drain, and into irrigation ditches, the drums where used to store food and water,

three of the drums where given to the local school where they stored milk in them.  unfortunatly the entire town is now doomed to a painfull and horrible slow death from cancer and radiation poisoning.

anyone who claims "ignorance is bliss" is a frickin moron.

P.s. the soil is contaminated for kilometers around the town too.

They are not using nukes; they are using munitions made of depleted uranium (I think it has better penetration).
quote:
Most American weapons (missiles, smart bombs, dumb bombs, bullets, tank shells, cruise missiles, etc.) contain high amounts of radioactive uranium. Depleted or non-depleted, these types of weapons, on detonation, release a radioactive dust which, when inhaled, goes into the body and stays there. It has a half-life of 4.5 billion years.

It happened in yugoslavia too.  Everywhere the US dropped bombs or fired bullets.

I didn't need to see that at lunch.

Depleated uranium means most of the radioactive parts have been removed, its a by-product of the process.  It is less dangerous than uranium ore.  An airline pilot is exposed to more radiation than the technician that loads and cleans the guns that use the depleted shells(more radiation than a nuclear reactor technician, but that's not important).

A huge quanitity of nuclear material was dumped into the Tigris river, do you think that will have an effect for the next 100 years as it leaks out?
