Female Genital Mutilation, an evil caused by ignorance

In today's Straits Times (newspaper), was this following article on 'breast ironing' , a practice of female mutilation (against the victim's will) that is still carried out by miserably ignorant mothers/societies in some countries today.

There is also the bigger issue of "female genital mutilation", which continues to be practiced to this day (against the victim's will), again by miserably ignorant mothers/societies in some countries today.

All of these ongoing 'evil' practices are really caused by ignorance, foolishness, lack of clarity and spiritual education.

We beseech each of you to *ceaselessly* continue your efforts in doing your part to contribute in any way possible, to the consciential or spiritual upliftment and education of this planet.

Yeah, I don't think I will read those. I know enough about female genital mutilation to know I don't want to read all about it this morning. It is terrible and I can't believe it goes on.

What about male genital mutilation, aka circumcision? I can't believe they still do that to baby boys.

It would be nice if these Muslim scholars were to help stop this atrocity, rather than persuading their teenagers to blow themselves up as human bombs.

This is the kind of Human Rights Organization action that I will support,

However, I strongly oppose Human Rights Organization meddling in the war on Islamo-Extremism, and poking their noses in Guantanamo Bay.

The only reason they target Gitmo is because it's a soft political target that gives the highest return in publicity.

They need to go after the hard targets, such as this FGC problem.
