The other night ABC 20/20 report featured a story about a woman who gave her life savings of $220,000 to a "psychic" scammer who claimed to be helping to remove a "family curse"

The part that got my attention was the explanation that, the more intelligent people are, the better they are at rationalizing situations that are obviously amiss to any objective observer.

"Smart, educated people are better at rationalizing these beliefs."
