QuoteCurrent and former American military and intelligence officials said that Air Force planning groups are drawing up lists of targets, and teams of American combat troops have been ordered into Iran, under cover, to collect targeting data and to establish contact with anti-government ethnic-minority groups.

Smells like a biggest piece of bovine excrement  ever

Speaking to journalists about sending "under cover" troops to a hostile country = treason & endangering those troops lives.

Commoners believe - winners KNOW !

That story has already been dismissed by several other news agencies as well as the US gov't.

The thing is that the Pentagon always looks at the possibility of such attacks.  It is their job to do so.  They probably have plans drawn up on how to invade England or Canada or even Mexico.  They do it because it is their job.  NOT because it is going to happen.

The last thing we need to do is stretch our military again with another conflict and our gov't knows this.  That and Iran is not Iraq or Afghanistan.  It's will be a fight and they have the resources to do some really bad things to us.

i think this is a more plausabe reason why the US would attack iran.. lots of people dont realise

Iran planned to open their oil market in euros in last march but they postponed it for a year. The reason could be they did not want to further provoke US after all this nuclear researching.
"What are you doing here, Nasrudin? his neighbor asks. "I'm looking for a key which I lost
in the wood?" Nasrudin replies. "Why don't you look for it in the wood?" says the neighbor,
wondering at Nasrudin's folly. "Because there is much more light here"

The government knows it- but does the president know it?

I guess that's the real question now isn't it.  But with a little hope Russia can step up and be the leader on this one since they have a better relationship with Iran.  As far as the nuclear program goes.  But if that guy is correct about the "petroleuro" thing than that might be a problem.  In which case we would probably use Iraq as a staging point and in that manner be able to keep some troops there while sending others to Iran.

Iran doesn't have the ability to make a uranium bomb on its own yet. If they get one, it'd have to be brought in from another country, like Russia or Pakistan or India. Otherwise they won't be able to get them for years.

Iran said they wanted to start using nuclear energy, and that that's what the uranium enrichment is for. For a reactor you have to be able to have a mass that's about 7% enriched uranium if I remember correctly. Enriching uranium is separating different isotopes of it to get to one of them in particular (U238 is it?). The rest is what's called depleted uranium, which is still radioactive, and that's what the US has been launching in Iraq and Afghanistan all over the place from tank shells. But I digress..

Iran recently started producing masses of about 3% enriched uranium, and again they have to have around 7% for a reactor. For a uranium bomb, they have to have about 95% or more of enriched uranium. They're nowhere near be able to produce enough enriched uranium for bomb production, but just getting around to being able to make a reactor for nuclear energy. You don't hear much of this over here in the US for the same reasons you did hear what a grave threat Saddam and his nuclear and other WMD programs (allegedly) were. It's propoganda.

Saddam wasn't a threat to US, that was a ridiculous assertion, and neither is Iran right now. Iran would only be a threat if we went over there and got point blank in their faces, because their weapons are mostly defensive, anti-US tech, just as the Russians (because that's what you get when you don't have trillions to spend on aircraft carriers and etc. but yet might have to defend yourself against them).

So if Iran does get a uranium bomb or any other kind of nuclear weapon they'll either need a lot of outside help, or at least a few more years. I don't understand why we can't at least just wait and see if they stop developing after they get reactors for energy. Yet they were planning on dropping the dollar, which is a stupid move when you trade oil. That's probably about the only thing that makes the dollar worth anything anymore.
What is the sound of no leaves cloving?
