Tomorrow, several websites will black out as a protest against SOPA and PIPA. Wikipedia is included in the list of websites protesting. Here is a list of websites that will black out tomorrow.

I'll have to tell people to go yahoo it I guess.

The White House has spoken against it, so I suppose even if for some reason one or both of the bills go through we can (hopefully) count on Obama to veto it.

Let's hope so, although vetos don't always stop things if there is enough vested interest in it.

Jochi

Yeah we can count on Obama to veto it just like we could count on him not to sign NDAA into law after he said he wouldnt?! bonk outta here with that excrement, these assholes cant be trusted, so dont you think for one second that if we werent on top of excrement, ( like we are supposed to ) that we could count on them to make decisions  in FAVOR of the PEOPLES Interest.

Dreamshards

I said i hope so, I didn't say i counted on Obama. Obama keeps saying he will do what's in the peoples best interest but then turns around and says "I had to do what congress said or there will be big problems..." I am not worried though, i trust in our people of America to fight back with whatever comes our way. We are done with all the crap.

I also have faith in this department. I've said it before: our society is spoiled with stuff we don't need, and like a spoiled child, we're going to kick and scream and throw tantrums when our stuff gets broken. The threat alone makes us angry, and if it actually happens we'll be super-furious.

Well, to add to the flame, did you know that Congress is also trying to re-copyright works that are already in the public domain?  That'll be an interesting battle, when they get to Disney.

I suppose it's not over, but it's been halted due to opponents and public outcry.

I think entertainment corporations are very afraid of their future and trying to fight change, but the old model doesn't work anymore. All they're doing is pulling the band aid off really slow. I was reading this morning how there are several big-name artists who were helping start "Megabox" which was (is?) going to be a platform for musicians and artists to release work themselves outside of major labels, and it would allow them to keep about 90% of the profits rather than the miniscule amounts they get now. Megabox happens to be owned by Megaupload, which got shut down yesterday. How convenient.

Firmly understand that there is no joy or sorrow in this world. If you believe worldly objects are a source of happiness, in their absence you will feel sorrow. Accept the fact that there is no true happiness in the world.
