Any fans of Paranoia Agent?

I'm a fan of a TV show called "Paranoia Agent." It's a Japanese anime, and I was just wondering if anyone else hear likes it. It kind of reminded me of this website, because every time I come here I see people talking about Negs.

For those who have not seen it, Paranoia Agent starts out with a woman who is under a lot of pressure for her job. She's the creator of a popular cartoon, and she can't come up with any new ideas. Something weird happens to her on the way home, and she claims to have been hit in the head by a kid with a baseball bat. Rumors fly, and other victims start popping up. The more it happens, the more rumors grow, and people having emotional crisis (And a few others things like that) start seeing "Little slugger" come out of no-where, get hit with a bat, and when they recover in the hospital they don't seem to have any problems anymore.

That probably wasn't very accurate, but I have the attention span of a chipmunk. Any-how, the whole show reminded me of negs. In the end little slugger turns out to be a made up bad guy that the girl convinced herself and everyone else to believe in after she accidentally caused the death of her pet, and when she brings him back under one of her times of stress the paranoia turns him into a neg-like thing.


Really trippy show, and people who liked "Boogypop Phantom" might like it. (Skips off to find clips on youtube.)

(Feels like such a wierd little anime dork.)

This show was so twisted and interesting. I wish there were more strange tv shows out there. It made me think a lot about how things can spread around, like with rumors etc, and then when all of the fear and rumors took a form and started "atacking", I had to go ""HOLY COW! THAT REMINDS ME OF SOMETHING!"

wow, this is a lonely topic, lol :p

I although I do not watch the telly, I actually did see this one after my brother and friends left it on.

I found the show to have great merit, as it dealt with concepts not generally tackled on tv, especially cartoons, such as the nature of the mind, the meaning of existence, psychological dilemmas as they relate to reality, a whole lotta' Descartes, social responsibility, and the human condition all in one episode

I only saw a single other episode (the first dealt with three individuals merrily resolving to kill themselves- very "Waiting for Godot")

I think I can see the connection with transcendental negativity you bring up.
