Hugh Hegarty

Well, as a new member, I am learning new things about this website every day! Today I just learned about the "SEARCH" feature on the forum.
Looks like I was right, this has been brought up before, in "Proof Of OBE - and/or - How to Win 1 Milion $", and there has been close to a hundred replies.
Now, I guess I'll simply find the answers before I ask the questions!  I guess I just want so badly to be out of th "Starting Member" category.
Love, Hugh

Hi there Hugh, hows it going ! welcome to the astral pulse.

I recall the debate about the $1,000,000..... It was entertaining !

The simple reason no one has claimed the money, is that the phenomena cannot currently be proven using current scientific techniques...

Of course, this raises questions about the nature of "reality".

I'm a firm believer that before too long, there will be a major breakthrough in the world of astral projection, that will change its public status from "extra-ordinary"/ "paranormal", to just .....normal !!

what has to be so scientific about the tek's needed to prove the ability?  i would think that it would be pretty cut and dry.

This should clear things up http://www.victorzammit.com/skeptics/index.html.

One thing I notice is that there is 0 evidence That OBE'S and similiar phenomena do not exist.

Scientific evidence    http://www.openmindsciences.com/hbo-exp.htmt

The real question is. Why do people still believe in Randi?

Remeber that James Randi is a master illusionist. If you were able to do something paranormal and not be able to have it verified 100% by multiple items of test & measurement equipment, James Randi would be able to provide you with several different ways that it could have been done by illusion.

To date there has only ever been one person to consistently prove he is genuine and that is Uri Geller, and he doesn't need the money.

A french team of scientists took one of the spoons that he had bent and put it  through high degrees of metalurgical analysis, including scanning electron microscopes, and concluded that he actually changes the crystalline structure within the metal just by touching it. Under normal means, to make such changes to the metal would require pressure that no human would be able to even remotely produce.

But then the thing is - there is no spoon.

James.

ha ha .....wise words from James !

it seems as though the ability to bend metal objects is more popular than the ability to move objects.   at least by the professionals.  any ideas why?

SiVA

In one of Robert Monroes books he talks about how, during one of his many OBE's, he pinches his friends a** (this person was in the physical) and they later reported that they had a large bruise on thier butt.

Maybe one of you expert astral travelers should leave your mark on Randis a** and see what he thinks about it then!

Once again I will say that science is under no obligation to DISprove anything. There also is 0 evidence that there isn't a planet made of chapstick, but that doesn't mean it's not 99.99999999999% unlikely.

Because one is easier to fake than the other?

Cynical me again... :)

your right, science is under no obligation to prove anything.

But  Why  do numerous scientists rubbish claims of astral projection and other "paranormal" areas before they even research them?

thats like me arguing that the earth is not round because i havent seen the physical evidence with my own eyes (i.e from space).

anyway i'm sure that a lot of people wanna comment on this subject so I will leave it at that.

Hello to all people from the united kingdom!! (especially suffolk)

At the end of the day, those who believe - believe. And those who don't - don't. We're the ones who'll lead a better a life knowing that such things do exist.

Hello Lysear, i'm from UK too!!

fredhedd

i just figure if there are people around all of the time that cn amove excrement w/ thier mind that there would be someting on the new or someshti aobut it
it would be a huge deal and i'm sre someone else besides randi would offer moneyt o see something like that .  if i had ten grand to put up and agreed to be civil about the terms and conditions agout something i would be willing to pout up the monye.  if i do come across some extra money i will put this up as a post.  it just seems taht the people on here that claim they have these abilities don't address these posts.  even whenthey claim to be so good at this and how easy it is.  i dont' get it .. what gives?  it's obvious what it looks like and i'm not doubting their abilities.  i don't think i m .  but it makes it hard to believe them.

I sort of see what your saying, although I have never projected before either. Try looking at it from this point of, I like to think this is how i will be when I project:

Once you know for certain that projection is real not just a belief but a knowledge, why would you need to prove it to a sceptic who will probably still find another explanation!! also, what is 10,000 or 1,000,000 dollars/pounds if you have access to the astral plane, knowledge/experience beyond your dreams!!

anyway thats just my philosophy lets see if its the same when I get to project.

It looks like my links didn't work due to weird computers. Here is an example of the overwelming scientific evidence.  http://www.openmindsciences.com
Try the section on Afterlife Experiments on the left. Whether you like it or not, all scientic evidence proves something is going on. l

Your wasting your time trying to get a quick million from a less than honest man, in my opinion.  Iv'e seen him claim things like cold reading for example even when no questions were asked. When asked to perform an example of this cold reading method, he always declines.

He doesn't have a million dollars in and account, when investigated. What he has, is a promise from his sponsors. Yeah, right!

I'm sure this has to have been brought up before, but since I'm new here, I'll have to be the one to ask again!
My friend told me about a test that awards $1 million to anybody able to demonstrate paranormal abilities. The man behind the test is James Randi, and I was just reading some articles about him on the internet. It seems like he can be pretty pompous in certainty that these abilities are people's imagination running wild.
I do not believe I have ever projected, but in the short time I have been open to Astral projetion, too many new and intense things have happened to me for me not to believe it all. So here I am, punching my computer monitor, wondering why Robert Bruce or one of the frequent projectors on this forum aren't in Florida right now, shutting this James Randi guy up! It seems like an easy million to any charity!
I know there has to be some catch, or some degree of bias in this test, but if anyone doesn't already know the details, you can see them where I did at: http://www.randi.org/research/index.html
Anybody know anything I don't about this test?!
