La Foret: I know what you mean, although I firmly believe that once you have been introduced, you need never use them again.  Too many people dabble in that area for all the wrong reasons and some end up hurting themselves.  

KromeKnight: thanks for posting that, that is exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping to see.  

I know any images having to do with the astral pale in comparison to the real thing, but I think it's helpful to see how others put their feelings and/or expereinces into a visual medium.

Hey, I'm glad you dig the images!  It took some time to find them all and put them here.  Now I am interested in seeing what other people have found on the net or have scanned and put up.  If you have any questions about how to insert images (link images) please read my first post, IM me, email me or ask someone who knows how.  It's really simple, but the first time might be a little tricky.

Quiet your mind. Clear your thoughts.

In your mind say:

"I'm going to count down from 3 to 1, visualizing each number on a white orb suspended in the air above my head. When I reach the third and final "1" my body will be deeply relaxed. I will have no awareness of physical sensations.  I will not perceive any physical discomfort. My consciousness will be focused on my astral body.

Now visualize a white orb suspended in the air above your head. Mentally focus on the orb I visualize a number "3" on the face of the orb. The numbers can be any color. They may vary with each experience. Visualize the 3 --three times: three number "3's" on the orb. Your body is completely relaxed. You are losing awareness of your physical body.

Then repeat the visualization with three number "2's." You are into greater relaxation. Now visualize the "1's." You are losing awareness of physical sensations. Your consciousness will be in your astral body.

Repeat this using the number "1's" three times. Your consciousness is now in my astral body.

This could involve training of several sessions. You may also find audio tapes that take you down into these altered states as well. You getting better and faster as you go along each time.

There is no set agenda for how often you practice astral projection or any other out-of-body technique. It soon becomes fun. It is like a deep meditation.

Now the key is to remain conscious while my body is asleep. Different thoughts may pull you from your focus as the mind loves to chatter. Just push these thoughts away.

Yes, he had some problems that I don't think were entirely age-related. By the way, you write well, and seem pretty mature. I don't like age discrimination either. Particularly since I'm finding out that the older I get, the more I feel it. But, like I said, it's a state of mind. I'm just a kid in an older persons body. [8D]

Some of your pics are coming up, but others aren't.  I think if you upload them from your own hard drive, you have to be online for them to be visible (someone please correct me if I am mistaken).  So maybe you can find a place to post them on the web and that way they will be visible to everyone.

I might talk to Adrian about a place where we can post pics permanentely.  I think the visual medium is an important one in terms of representing the OBE and other "mystical" phenomenon.  It sometimes helps people to have a visual rep. of things they otherwise only expereince or imagine.

Hey guys, i just signed up a few days ago and i thought i should drop in to say hi to everyone. And while i'm at it, i'll show you some of the pictures my friend made.  It's really nice.

This first image that he made was his interpretion of the astral realm.  He doesn't really know that much about astral projection and such(so am i[:I] but..... i know a little bit more[:D]).  Anyways, months ago i was talking to my friend about this magical ability that humans possess, and from that point on, i guess he got intrigued. Then soon afterwards, he made this image(There's a reason why he made this image, but that's another story). This is one of my favorite image that he made.

This second image was inspired by the fact that my friends and i were talking about aliens, space, and the other dimensions.  And we somehow come up to believe that we, as humans, were created by ancient alien races (possibly the pleiadians?). Alex Grey

Alex Grey spent several years employed in a medical school morgue preparing cadavers and studying the human anatomy. During this period he began having a series of mystical experiences which transformed his agnostic existentialism to a radical transcendentalism. During the 1970s and 80s Grey did numerous performances and sculptural installations based on his visions. Grey's unique series of 21 life-sized paintings, the Sacred Mirrors, examine, in detail, physical and metaphysical anatomy of the individual. Begun in 1979, the series took a period of ten years to complete. After painting the Sacred Mirrors, Grey applied this multidimensional perspective to painted visions of crucial human experiences such as praying, kissing, copulating, pregnancy, birth and dying. Grey portrays the body as translucent, revealing complex anatomical systems and interwoven with glowing subtle energies visible to clairvoyants. Viewers recognize in his work a glimpse into the subtle spiritual archetypal domains of awareness.

Many of these works of art are reproduced in Grey's book, Sacred Mirrors: The Visionary Art of Alex Grey, published by Inner Traditions and now available in five languages. Grey has an expansive audience outside of the traditional art world. His work has been included in the album art of such popular rock groups as Nirvana and the Beastie Boys and a book of songs by the Talking Heads. The underground Techno Rave culture has extensively sampled Grey's art, using it to promote all-night dance events. Grey's vision of the human psychic anatomy has been used by the Chairman of the Department of Alternative Medicine at the National Institute of Health in Washington, D.C., who uses it in his international slide lectures. Healers, body workers and "new age" figures including Matthew Fox, Joan Borysenko and Deepak Chopra have all used his work to describe the dimensions of body, mind and spirit.

Grey's artwork has been exhibited worldwide, including Stux Gallery and the New Museum in NYC, the Grand Palais in Paris, the Sao Paulo Biennial in Brazil, the Centro Culturale Zittele in Venice, Italy, University Galleries of the University of Illinois, and La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles. A major exhibition of Grey's work was held at the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art in the spring of 1999. Grey was featured in a television program about the brain, mind and creativity on the Discovery Channel. He has been a keynote speaker at the International Transpersonal Association and numerous Art and Healing conferences. Articles and reviews about Grey's work have appeared in art journals and several spiritual and new age magazines. Grey has been an instructor in Artistic Anatomy and Figure Sculpture for nine years at New York University, and also teaches courses in Visionary Art with his artist wife at The Open Center in New York City, Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado and Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York.

I can't say enough about how fantastic these images are[:O][:O][:O][8D][:)]

they definately have the look and feel of astral reality.the one on the first page, the city w/the exagerrated colors on the bottom picture of Peacefulwarriors post on page 1-reminded me of an astral reality I visited once-it felt and looked kinda like that,only the colors were even more intense by about 10 times,and it was all countryside from where I was.

also,the one of the girl walking towards the portal made by 2 toppled trees,w/the subdued atmosphere,has the feel of another place I visited during the same 'trip'.everything was blue-purple, only it was also shining and translucent.and in the reality I visited,the plant life was really strange...

I would actually like to produce some artwork based on my experiences.I just need to 'brush up' on my technique.[:)]

I would also like to add that I'm not sure how I would capture the colors I've seen...some of them have no comparison in any kind of paint[:(]

Yes Jason, I know that you mean.  Of course art can only go so far in its quest to capture what can only be expereinced first hand.

Edit again: IF you want to know the name of these pictures, just right click with your mouse on the picture and choose properties. A menu should pop up. Hi guys, i would like to take a moment to say something about the pictures i've posted. Earlier today i was thinking about these pictures, and a question came to my mind. I was thinking of whether or not i should have posted them, since i haven't really consciously been to the astral. I was afraid that for those people who are new to astral projection, looking at my pictures might give them the wrong ideas of the astral. I wrote this because i want to tell the people that these are just MY PERCEPTION of what the astral would look like, to me.... and to ask whether or not i should continuing posting the pictures i think is astral related.

Hi Ametrine, this is how i post my pictures.  I didn't follow the direction on the first page.  What i did was, I saved all the pictures first to my computer(i saved only pictures that i like). Then once it's saved, you go here and start posting.  Here are the steps for uploading the pictures:

Step 1: click on Add Attachment at the bottom.

Step 2: click on Browse... and find the picture. Then click 'Open'.

Step 3: click 'Upload file' and then wait.

The wolf is apparently some sort of astral being who is able to trascend into the physical (Locale 1), as well as phase out directly into equivalent of Locale 3 (the bull with jumping rope). He appears to employ a visualization technique (the door) for phasing - I should try that.

yup, it is amazing.  I just want to clarify things up though, the last image of the moon is an edited picture.  The moon is not at its actual size. The artist might have used Adobe Photoshop or other image editing programs to produce that work you see there.  Still, the image as you have said is amazing. Good day:)[:)]

This is a picture of me reinacting my first OBE. I love digital imaging and really enjoy looking at all of the pictures posted here.

Hey YoungSpirit, the image you made is very good, considering that you are at the early stages of graphic arts. Okay, here are some of the pictures i took on January 30, 2004.  Me and a couple of people woke up around 5-6 A.M. in the morning to go to the beach.  We were there to see the sunrise.  What a spectacle it was to see the sun.  I want to do it more often but i've been too busy with sleeping.[|)]

Sometimes I think about the "real appearance of things". If the astral body is only a point of conciousness, and all into this universe doesn't more than condensed energy, ¿what appearance would have things beyond its apparent volume, its geometrical appearance, its apparent colour, its apparent physical properties, given by scientific measurement tools, those that, surely are as unreal as the things object of their study?

There I've found and fascinating description of real things. Allow me to share with you this topic:

What Is Tensegrity?

     Tensegrity is the modernized version of some movements called magical passes developed by Indian shamans who lived in Mexico in times prior to the Spanish Conquest.
     Times prior to the Spanish Conquest is a term used by don Juan Matus, a Mexican Indian shaman who introduced Carlos Castaneda, Carol Tiggs, Florinda Donner-Grau and Taisha Abelar to the cognitive world of shamans who lived in Mexico in ancient times -- which, according to don Juan, was between 7,000 and 10,000 years ago.
     Don Juan explained to his students that those shamans discovered through practices that he could not fathom, that it is possible for human beings to perceive energy directly as it flows in the universe. In other words, those shamans maintained, according to don Juan, that any one of us can do away, for a moment, with our system of turning energy inflow into sensory data pertinent to the kind of organism that we are. Turning the inflow of energy into sensory data creates, shamans affirm, a system of interpretation that turns the flowing energy of the universe into the world of everyday life that we know.
     Don Juan further explained that once those shamans of ancient times had established the validity of perceiving energy directly, which they called seeing, they proceeded to refine it by applying it to themselves, meaning that they perceived one another, whenever they wanted it, as a conglomerate of energy fields. Human beings perceived in such a fashion appear to the seer as gigantic luminous spheres. The size of these luminous spheres is the breadth of the extended arms.
     When human beings are perceived as conglomerates of energy fields, a point of intense luminosity can be perceived at the height of the shoulder blades an arm's length away from them, on the back. The seers of ancient times who discovered this point of luminosity called it the assemblage point, because they concluded that it is there that perception is assembled. They noticed, aided by their seeing, that on that spot of luminosity, the location of which is homogeneous for mankind, converge zillions of energy fields in the form of luminous filaments which constitute the universe at large. Upon converging there, they become sensory data, which is utilizable by human beings as organisms. This utilization of energy turned into sensory data was regarded by those shamans as an act of pure magic: energy at large transformed by the assemblage point into a veritable, all-inclusive world in which human beings as organisms can live and die. The act of transforming the inflow of pure energy into the perceivable world was attributed by those shamans to a system of interpretation. Their shattering conclusion, shattering to them, of course, and perhaps to some of us who have the energy to be attentive, was that the assemblage point was not only the spot where perception was assembled by turning the inflow of pure energy into sensory data, but the spot where the interpretation of sensory data took place.
     Their next shattering observation was that the assemblage point is displaced in a very natural and unobtrusive way out of its habitual position during sleep. They found out that the greater the displacement, the more bizarre the dreams that accompany it. From these seeing observations, those shamans jumped to the pragmatic action of the volitional displacement of the assemblage point. And they called their concluding results the art of dreaming.
     This art was defined by those shamans as the pragmatic utilization of ordinary dreams to create an entrance into other worlds by the act of displacing the assemblage point at will and maintaining that new position, also at will. The observations of those shamans upon practicing the art of dreaming were a mixture of reason and seeing energy directly as it flows in the universe. They realized that at its habitual position, the assemblage point is the spot where converges a given, minuscule portion of the energy filaments that make up the universe, but if the assemblage point changes location, within the luminous egg, a different minuscule portion of energy fields converges on it, giving as a result a new inflow of sensory data: energy fields different from the habitual ones are turned into sensory data, and those different energy fields are interpreted as a different world.
     The art of dreaming became for those shamans their most absorbing practice. In the course of that practice, they experienced unequaled states of physical prowess and well-being, and in their effort to replicate those states in their hours of vigil, they found out that they were able to repeat them following certain movements of the body. Their efforts culminated in the discovery and development of a great number of such movements, which they called magical passes.
     The magical passes of those shamans of Mexican antiquity became their most prized possession. They surrounded them with rituals and mystery and taught them only to their initiates in the midst of tremendous secrecy. This was the manner in which don Juan Matus taught them to his disciples. His disciples, being the last link of his lineage, came to the unanimous conclusion that any further secrecy about the magical passes was counter to the interest that they had in making don Juan's world available to their fellow men. They decided, therefore, to rescue the magical passes from their obscure state. They created in this fashion, Tensegrity, which is a term proper to architecture that means "the property of skeleton structures that employ continuous tension members and discontinuous compression members in such a way that each member operates with the maximum efficiency and economy." This is a most appropriate name because it is a mixture of two terms: tension and integrity; terms which connote the two driving forces of the magical passes.

Yes, it should be a sticky.  I will look into making it one.  

What's interesting about this post is that when I created it I intended finding images that related directly to AP but now I see that this has changed.  It has helped me to understand that what is "astral" is completely subjective.  In other words, the astral means something different to everyone.  The main thing I see is that the images are always surreal, or otherworldly.  

Anyhow, I hope people will link more images...altough I am not sure how much Adrian appreciates having some much more bandwith being used up with this and other image laden posts![;)]
